24 hours agoThe San Francisco 49ers and Miami Dolphins have each made offers to free-agent edge rusher Joey Bosa in the same relative price range, according to The Athletic's Michael Silver. The former Los Angeles Chargers pass-rusher would receive less than $10 million in 2025 in either scenario. Bosa, the former third overall pick by the Chargers in 2016 out of Ohio State, was a salary cap casualty for the Bolts this offseason because of the fact that he just couldn't stay on the field due to injuries. The 29-year-old five-time Pro Bowler and former Defensive Rookie of the Year managed to play in 14 regular-season games (nine starts) in 2024 in his final season in L.A. and had 22 tackles (17 solo), five sacks, five tackles for loss, 13 QB hits and two forced fumbles. He can still be effective as more of a situational pass-rusher, and if he signs in San Fran, he'd have the opportunity to play opposite his brother Nick.Source: The Athletic - Michael Silver
24 hours agoThe San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers have been in talks with Cleveland Browns impending free-agent quarterback Jameis Winston for potential backup roles, a league source told Josina Anderson. Another team to watch could be the New York Giants, depending on how their talks with other signal-callers go. The 31-year-old former first overall pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015 out of Florida State played in 12 games (seven starts) for the Browns after Deshaun Watson went down with a torn Achilles last year. He initially gave the Browns offense a spark but ended up committing 14 turnovers in 12 games and was eventually benched in a lost season. Even with Watson unlikely to play in 2025, Winston isn't expected to return to Cleveland. The turnover-prone gunslinger would back up Justin Herbert in L.A. and Brock Purdy in San Francisco.Source: Josina Anderson
24 hours agoThe Kansas City Chiefs signed four-year veteran free-agent offensive lineman Jaylon Moore (quadriceps) to a two-year, $30 million deal on Monday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Moore, a fifth-round pick (155th overall) by the San Francisco 49ers in 2021 out of Western Michigan, played in all four seasons in the Bay Area but started only 12 of the 55 games he appeared in. The 27-year-old appeared in 15 games last year (five starts)and finished the year on Injured Reserve due to a quadriceps injury. Although he was mostly a backup with the Niners, the Chiefs are hoping he can bring some stability to their left-tackle spot after they went through four players at the position in 2024. After going through Kingsley Suamataia, Wanya Morris and D.J. Humphries, the Chiefs ended the year with Joe Thuney at left tackle. They traded Thuney to the Bears last week.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
24 hours agoPittsburgh Steelers free-agent linebacker Elandon Roberts reached an agreement on Monday night with the Las Vegas Raiders on a one-year, $3 million contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The deal was negotiated by agent Drew Rosenhaus. Roberts will help replace standout linebacker Robert Spillane in 2025. The 30-year-old veteran spent the last two seasons in Pittsburgh. After 100-plus-tackle seasons with the Miami Dolphins in 2022 and the Steelers in 2023, Roberts took a step back last year with only 46 tackles (24 solo), one sack, five tackles for loss and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season games (14 starts). The former sixth-round selection (214th overall) by the New England Patriots in 2016 out of Houston played fewer than 50 percent of the defensive snaps in his final season in Pittsburgh but should have a shot a a near every-down role again in Vegas.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
1 day agoThe Buffalo Bills signed former Los Angeles Rams linebacker Michael Hoecht on a three-year deal on Monday worth a maximum value of $24 million, his agents told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Hoecht heads to the AFC East and all the way across the country after spending the first four years of his NFL career in L.A., where he produced 180 total tackles (98 solo), 13.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, four pass breakups and two forced fumbles in 68 regular-season games (31 starts). The 27-year-old former undrafted free agent out of Brown had 56 tackles (24 solo), three sacks, six QB hits and two pass breakups in 17 regular-season games (five starts) in 2024. Hoecht will not be on the fantasy radar in IDP formats and will most likely serve in a rotational depth role behind edge rushers A.J. Epenesa and Greg Rousseau.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
1 day agoTwo-time Pro Bowl defensive lineman Jonathan Allen was visiting with the Minnesota Vikings on Monday, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The Washington Commanders gave Allen permission to seek a trade before eventually releasing him last Friday after eight years in D.C. The 30-year-old veteran pass-rusher had only three sacks in eight regular-season games (seven starts) in his final year in Washington, but he shouldn't be without a home for much longer this offseason. The Vikings could use some extra help in the pass-rush department, even if Allen is more of a situational defensive tackle at this point in his career. He was the 17th overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft out of Alabama and has plenty of experience with 401 tackles (242 solo), 42 sacks, 60 tackles for loss, 118 QB hits, an interception, five pass breakups, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 109 games (108 starts).Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
1 day agoThe Minnesota Vikings and Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Murphy agreed to terms on a three-year, $66 million deal ($22 million per year) on Monday, sources tell NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Murphy will remain in Minnesota and will be handsomely rewarded after his breakout 2024 campaign. The 27-year-old former second-round pick (33rd overall) by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019 out of the University of Washington had a career-high 81 tackles (62 solo), six tackles for loss, a career-high six interceptions, 14 pass breakups and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season starts in 2024 in his second year in Minnesota. For his efforts a season ago, Murphy becomes the third-highest-paid cornerback in the league, behind only Jalen Ramsey and Patrick Surtain. Murphy will be looking to remain a ball-hawking defensive back for the Vikings under defensive coordinator Brian Flores in 2025.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
1 day agoThe Denver Broncos are expected to sign San Francisco 49ers standout linebacker Dre Greenlaw to a three-year deal worth $35 million, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Greenlaw will essentially help make up for the loss of linebacker Cody Barton, who signed a three-year deal to join the Tennessee Titans. The 27-year-old Greenlaw had 100-plus combined tackles for the Niners in 2022 and 2023 before tearing his Achilles in the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in February of last year. He ended up playing in only two games for the Niners in 2024 as a result and had nine tackles (three solo). The former fifth-round selection (148th overall) in the 2019 NFL draft out of Arkansas only has 3.5 sacks in his six NFL seasons, but if he can return to his pre-injury form in Denver, an already strong Broncos defense will get even more formidable in 2025 and beyond.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
1 day agoThe Cincinnati Bengals agreed to a two-year, $5 million deal with former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Oren Burks on Monday, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Burks will have an opportunity to start for a Bengals defense that was their weak spot in 2024. The 29-year-old stepped up for the injured Nakobe Dean in the playoffs and had 25 tackles (three for loss), a sack, two QB hits and a pass breakup to help the team eventually make it to the Super Bowl and beat the Kansas City Chiefs. The former third-rounder (88th overall) by the Green Bay Packers in 2018 out of Vanderbilt had 41 tackles (20 solo), a pass breakup and two forced fumbles for the Eagles in 17 regular-season games (two starts) in his lone season with the team in 2024. Burks has only 17 starts in his seven NFL seasons, but he is in line to step into an expanded role for the first time in his career in Cincinnati in 2025.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
1 day agoFormer Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton signed a three-year deal worth over $54 million on Monday with the Carolina Panthers, multiple sources told FOX Sports' Jordan Schultz. Wharton earned the big payday this offseason by leading the Chiefs with 8.5 sacks last year, including the playoffs. In 17 regular-season games (10 starts), he had 29 tackles (18 solo), a career-high 6.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in his fifth year in the NFL. The 26-year-old pass-rusher entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri S&T and will now head to the NFC South after racking up 114 tackles (56 solo), 13.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits, one interception, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 72 games (13 starts). The Panthers continue to add to a defense that allowed the most points in the league in 2024.Source: FOX Sports - Jordan Schultz

1 day agoFree-agent linebacker Cody Barton agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal on Monday with the Tennessee Titans, his agents told NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. It's a big pickup for the Titans and a big loss for the Denver Broncos after Barton posted three straight seasons of 100-plus combined tackles with the Broncos, Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders. In his lone season in Denver, the 28-year-old had 106 tackles (53 solo), 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, five pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in 17 regular-season games (14 starts). After three straight strong seasons with three different teams, Barton will head to the fourth team of his NFL career and is expected to be Tennessee's starting inside linebacker. While Barton has only 3.5 sacks in his six NFL seasons, he'll be on the fantasy radar in deeper IDP leagues because of his tackling ability alone.Source: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo

1 day agoThe Green Bay Packers signed former Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Nate Hobbs to a four-year, $48 million deal on Monday that includes $16 million guaranteed, a source told NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Hobbs will head to the NFC North after spending the first four years of his career with the Raiders after they made him a fifth-round selection (167th overall) in 2021 out of Illinois. Hobbs played in only 11 games (seven starts) for Vegas in his final year with the team in 2024 and recorded a career-low 49 tackles (33 solo), an interception and five pass breakups. He established himself as a solid slot cornerback in his first three years with the Raiders, though, and has 281 total tackles (200 solo), three sacks, 14 tackles for loss, eight QB hits, three interceptions, 19 pass breakups, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in his four seasons. Hobbs will essentially be replacing Jaire Alexander in 2025.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
