11 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts officially ruled out running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) for the Week 13 game against the Tennessee Titans after he underwent surgery on his injured thumb on Wednesday. There's no firm timetable on Taylor, but he's expected to miss somewhere between two to three weeks. The Colts are not considering placing him on Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss at least four games. Fantasy managers must stash the 24-year-old and hope that he's back to full speed in a couple of weeks for postseason play in fantasy formats. With Taylor out, Zack Moss will have RB2 upside in fantasy lineups as Indy's lead back. Trey Sermon will serve as his backup, starting this Sunday against the Titans.Source: Colts.com - JJ Stankevitz
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie (toe) went from not practicing at all with the team on Wednesday to being a full participant in Thursday's session. If he puts in another full practice day on Friday, he should be fine to play in Week 13 against the Titans in Tennessee. The 28-year-old pass-catcher shouldn't be in any starting fantasy, though, in what should be more of a defensive division battle. Besides, McKenzie hasn't had a very big role in the Colts' offense in 2023. The former Georgia Bulldog is essentially the No. 4 wideout behind Michael Pittman Jr., rookie Josh Downs and Alec Pierce. McKenzie hasn't scored and has only 11 catches (14 targets) for 82 yards in 11 games. He hasn't caught a single pass in five separate games.Source: Indianapolis Colts
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts tight end Drew Ogletree (foot) practiced fully on Wednesday ahead of his team's Week 13 matchup against the Tennessee Titans. Ogletree has missed the past two games with a foot injury but he is trending in the right direction with a full practice under his belt already as the Colts kicked off preparations for Week 13. Provided he doesn't suffer a setback, it appears as though Ogletree will be back on the field in Week 13 but it will be worth monitoring his participation in practices throughout the remainder of the week.Source: Colts.com
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie (toe) did not practice on Wednesday. The veteran wideout will look to upgrade his participation on Thursday or Friday as the Colts prepare to take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 13. McKenzie has not been a major part of the Indy offense in Week 13, although he has been active on special teams.Source: Colts.com
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) will undergo surgery on his injured right thumb on Wednesday, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Steichen isn't sure how much time Taylor will miss, but he said he hoped the 2021 All-Pro would be back sooner than later, depending on how his rehab process goes. Injured Reserve is not being considered for Taylor, which means he should be able to return in two to three weeks. The biggest concerns for Taylor with the injury are ball security and pass protection. Fantasy managers will need to keep Taylor stashed for now. In the meantime, Zack Moss will serve as Indy's lead back with Trey Sermon backing him up. Moss has 672 rushing yards (10th among RBs) and is averaging almost five yards per carry in 2023.Source: Colts.com - JJ Stankevitz
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that running back Trey Sermon will serve as the backup behind Zack Moss with Jonathan Taylor (thumb) set to miss two to three weeks with a thumb injury that requires surgery. Sermon was the No. 2 behind Moss earlier in the year when Taylor was still on the Physically Unable to Perform list for an ankle injury that required offseason surgery, but he didn't see more than six touches in a game as the No. 2. The 24-year-old former third-rounder has eight carries for 24 yards and has caught one pass for four yards in his nine games in Indy in 2023. Moss should be the bell-cow back for the Colts for as long as Taylor is sidelined, giving him clear RB2 upside in fantasy.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss stands to benefit from Jonathan Taylor's thumb injury, starting in Week 13 against the Tennessee Titans. Taylor will have thumb surgery on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least two to three weeks. Moss filled in nicely during the early portion of the season while Taylor was on the Physically Unable to Perform list while recovering from ankle surgery. If Moss is available, fantasy managers should make picking him up off of waivers this week a priority in all formats.Source: The Athletic
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) will undergo thumb surgery on Wednesday in Los Angeles with the hope that he can return in two to three weeks, according to owner Jim Irsay. We haven't received any other specific details on the nature of Taylor's thumb injury, but it's obviously serious enough to sideline him for at least a couple of weeks. The 24-year-old is coming off a two-touchdown performance in the Week 12 win over the Tampa Buccaneers and has dominated Indy's backfield touches the last four weeks, so it's a big loss for fantasy managers with only several more weeks until the playoffs begin in most leagues. Zack Moss, who was the lead back in Weeks 2-4 with Taylor on the PUP list due to an ankle injury, will now take over primary RB duties for the Colts and will have RB2 upside this weekend against the Tennessee Titans.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) could end up on Injured Reserve after suffering an apparent thumb injury in the Week 12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Taylor showed no signs of being injured during or directly after the game, but according to Stephen Holder of ESPN, it's a legitimate injury that could sideline him for an extended period of time. Zack Moss becomes a high-priority waiver add, as he was an RB1 in fantasy football through the first six weeks of the season with Taylor out or limited.Source: Stephen Holder
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb), who had a 91-yard, two-touchdown performance in the Week 12 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, suffered a thumb injury that is requiring further evaluation and puts his status in doubt going forward, according to sources. We'll get you up to speed when we know more on the condition of Taylor's thumb, but fantasy managers already scrambling for players not on bye in Week 13 will want to check to see if Zack Moss is available on your league's waiver wire. At best, Taylor should be considered up in the air to play this Sunday against the division-rival Tennessee Titans, and depending on what tests show on his thumb, he could be forced to miss additional time beyond this week. It could be a big blow to the Colts and to fantasy managers hoping to get into the playoffs.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce caught four of his six targets for 27 yards in Week 12's 27-20 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The second-year wideout improved over his one-catch outing in Week 10 against the New England Patriots, but his performance was still disappointing nonetheless in a game in which quarterback Gardner Minshew threw the pigskin 41 times. Both Michael Pittman Jr. and rookie Josh Downs had 13 targets apiece, leaving little else for the rest of the team's pass-catchers. Pierce's six targets were third on the team. As long as Downs is healthy and active, Pierce is hard to recommend as a WR4/flex in standard-sized fantasy leagues. He has yet to score in 2023 and has gone over 50 receiving yards just once (in Week 7).Source: ESPN.com
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Zack Moss carried the ball eight times for 55 yards in the team's 27-20 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was also targeted three times for two catches for an additional 15 yards through the air. Moss' involvement in Indy's offense has varied tremendously over the last few weeks, as Sunday marked the most opportunities he's seen since Week 8. It's unclear how certain of a role Moss will have moving forward, but his efficiency in the team's win may suggest that he'll see a similar amount of volume moving forward. Fantasy managers should likely keep Moss on the bench in Week 13 when they face a tough Tennessee Titans run defense, but managers in deeper standard formats could look to him as a potential RB4/Flex option.Source: ESPN
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts rookie wide receiver Josh Downs reeled in five catches for 43 yards in the team's 27-20 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite only having five catches, Downs tied wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. with a team-high 13 targets. The rookie could have had a much better fantasy outing, but he dropped a number of passes while a few of the targets from quarterback Gardner Minshew were uncatchable. Although Downs' usage is encouraging, he doesn't quite have a safe enough floor to be a weekly starter. He does find himself in a favorable matchup in Week 13 when the Colts square off against the Tennessee Titans. Fantasy managers can look to include the former Tar Heel as a WR4/Flex option.Source: ESPN
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. reeled in 10 catches for 107 yards in the team's 27-20 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Pittman saw 13 total targets in the matchup, making it the second week in a row he's seen over 10 targets and the seventh time this season he's hit that mark. Pittman remains a weekly starter in PPR formats with his target share and his rapport with quarterback Gardner Minshew. The fifth-year receiver should be included in all lineups as a high-end WR2 option in Week 13 when the Colts square off against the Tennessee Titans.Source: ESPN
11 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had an excellent outing in the team's 27-20 win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Taylor ran the ball 15 times for 91 yards, scoring two touchdowns in the process. Taylor was not involved in the receiving game, garnering zero targets in the matchup. Fellow running back Zack Moss was the most involved he had been in the backfield in weeks, but that didn't impede on Taylor's productive day. The former Wisconsin Badger should be included in all fantasy lineups moving forward, and he will look to continue his production in Week 13 when the Colts face the Tennessee Titans.Source: ESPN
