5 months agoIkram Aliskerov (15-1) is getting a massive opportunity as he stepped up on short notice to headline UFC Saudi Arabia against Robert Whittaker. Aliskerov was supposed to fight last weekend against Antonio Trocoli but after Khamzat Chimaev was out of the bout, Aliskerov took the fight against Whittaker on short notice. Aliskerov is 2-0 in the UFC and enters the bout against Whittaker as the underdog as DraftKings has him at a salary of $7,800. Whittaker was supposed to headline the card against Khamzat Chimaev but just over a week out from the card, Chimaev was out and Aliskerov stepped up on short notice. Following the change of opponent, Whittaker is now the favorite as DraftKings has him at a salary of $8,400. The former middleweight champion is coming off a decision win over Paulo Costa as the Aussie is 16-5 in the UFC and has won 11 times by decision, while he's been finished in three of his losses. 5 months agoTatsuro Taira scored a TKO victory over Alex Perez in the main event of UFC Vegas 93. The finish came in the second round after Taira took Perez's back, intertwining their legs, making both fighters fall. Immediately after that, Perez grimaced in pain as grabbed his injured knee, forcing Herb Dean to stop the fight. In 7:59 of action, Taira landed two takedowns and 31 significant strikes. 5 months agoAfter suffering a knee injury, Alex Perez suffered a second-round TKO loss to Tatsuro Taira in the main event of UFC Vegas 93 to drop to 25-9-1 as a professional. Perez entered the fight on the heels of a Performance of the Night upset stoppage over Matheus Nicolau in April. The finish in the main event of UFC Vegas 93 came after Taira took Perez's back and fell with Perez. It was evident that Perez injured his knee in that sequence and could not continue. This was a back-and-forth battle, but unfortunately for Armfield, he got caught by a third-round rear-naked choke and was forced to tap. In 11:52 of action, Armfield landed 49 significant strikes. This was Hiestand's first fight in 14 months as he was sidelined with medical issues. Hiestand survived a knockdown from Armfield in the second round and pulled off a third-round submission win in one of the most competitive outings of the night. Johnson was moving down from bantamweight to flyweight, a division he had never fought in. In 15 minutes of action, Johnson landed a takedown and only five significant strikes. It was a dominant performance for Almbayev who easily won all three rounds on the scorecards. In 15 minutes of action, Almbayev landed six takedowns and 20 significant strikes. 5 months agoJosh Quinlan suffered a split-decision loss to Adam Fugitt at UFC Vegas 93 on Saturday. Quinlan entered the fight as the favorite despite losing back-to-back fights as he was coming off a TKO loss to Danny Barlow back in February. Quinlan outstruck Fugitt in the first round, but in the second and third rounds, Quinlan slowed down as Fugitt took over and outstruck him in the final two rounds to edge out the win. With the loss, Quinlan is now 1-3 in the UFC and is 6-3 overall as he will likely be released from the UFC.Source: UFC
5 months agoAdam Fugitt returned to the win column with a split decision win over Josh Quinlan on the main card opener of UFC Vegas 93. Fugitt and Quinlan had a back-and-forth fight, but Fugitt was able to take over in the final two rounds to edge out the victory. Fugitt outstruck Quinlan 27-to-16 in the second round and 31-to-14 in the third round to win the rounds and edge out the win. With the victory, Fugitt is now 2-2 in the UFC and is 10-4 overall. 5 months agoTimmy Cuamba suffered a hard-fought decision loss to Lucas Almeida on the main card of UFC Vegas 93. Cuamba entered his fight as the favorite, but he struggled early on as he got dropped and was outstruck in the first two rounds. The American did have a solid third round as he outstruck Almeida 38-to-25 and also as 2-for-2 on his takedowns to win the third round, but it was too little too late. With the loss, Cuamba is now 0-2 in the UFC and is 8-3 as a pro. He likely will get one more fight in the UFC which will be a must-win for him.Source: UFC
5 months agoLucas Almeida scored a decision win over Timmy Cuamba on the main card of UFC Vegas 93 on Saturday. Almeida entered the bout on a two-fight losing streak and was the underdog. However, the Brazilian started strong as he dropped Cuamba in the opening round and outstruck him 30-to-13 in the first round. Almeida ended up continuing his success in the second round, outstriking Cuamba 36-to-22. Although the Brazilian lost the third round, he did enough in the first two rounds to get the decision win and snap his two-fight losing skid. With the loss, Almeida is now 2-2 in the UFC and likely kept his job.Source: UFC
5 months agoDouglas Silva de Andrade suffered a decision loss in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 93 on Saturday. de Andrade was searching for his 30th UFC win, but the Brazilian came up short as he was outstruck in two of the three rounds to lose a clear-cut decision. The Brazilian started slow as he landed just 12 strikes in the opening round, and struggled to find his range. With the loss, de Andrade fell to 7-6 in the UFC and is 29-6 and one NC in the UFC. The Brazilian is 5-5 in his last 10 as he has alternated wins and losses in his last four fights. At 38, his chances of entering the bantamweight rankings appear to be over.Source: UFC
5 months agoMiles Johns scored a decision win over Douglas Silva de Andrade in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 93 on Saturday. Johns entered the fight as the slight favorite, and he controlled the fight to win a clear-cut decision. Both Johns and de Andrade didn't throw much volume in the first round, but the American took over in the second and third rounds to secure a clear-cut win. Johns finished the fight outstriking de Andrade 52-to-36. With the win, Johns improved to 15-2 and one NC as a pro and 6-2 and one NC in the UFC.
