Jack Eichel Sits Out Second Consecutive Game
6 days agoVegas Golden Knights center Jack Eichel (upper body) will remain sidelined for Thursday's contest against the Seattle Kraken. Vegas' leading scorer, who has amassed 93 points (27 goals, 66 assists) in 76 appearances, will miss a second consecutive game due to an upper-body injury. He is considered day-to-day, with Eichel's next opportunity to return coming on Saturday against the Nashville Predators. Brett Howden replaced Eichel on the first line but had a quiet game on Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche, finishing scoreless in nearly 15 minutes of action.Source: NHL.com
White Sox Calling Up Chase Meidroth
6 days agoThe Athletic's James Fegan confirms that the Chicago White Sox are recalling infield prospect Chase Meidroth from Triple-A Charlotte. Meidroth, who is considered the team's No. 8 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is getting his first big-league call-up after hitting .267/.450/.600 with three home runs, a double, four RBI, two stolen bases, eight walks and five strikeouts in 40 plate appearances over nine games with Charlotte to begin the year. The 23-year-old has experience at both second base and shortstop, but he's most likely to see time at the 6 in Chicago, which is bad news for Jacob Amaya. Meidroth has elite bat-to-ball skills and is disciplined at the plate, but he lacks power and doesn't stand out defensively, making him only worth a waiver-wire pickup in AL-only leagues at this time.Source: The Athletic - James Fegan
Martin Necas Returns To Action Against Canucks
6 days agoColorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas (upper body) will return from a three-game absence on Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks. Colorado will get some much-needed help up front after losing several forwards to injury, including leading scorer Nathan MacKinnon (undisclosed). Necas is projected to slot into the second line next to Joel Kiviranta and Charlie Coyle, with Brock Nelson moving up to the top line to take MacKinnon's spot. Since moving to Denver, Necas has registered 11 goals and 26 points in 27 games with 80 shots on goal. The Czech forward has not had much success against the Canucks, going scoreless in five consecutive matchups.Source: NHL.com
Ronald Acuna Jr. Going For Checkup Early Next Week
6 days agoAtlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. is expected to head to Los Angeles to meet with doctors first thing next week, according to 929 The Game's Grant McAuley. Acuna expects to be cleared for lateral movement and quick start/stop running, which will eventually determine his next steps and a timetable for him to begin a minor-league rehab assignment. The Braves have declined to give the 27-year-old former MVP a specific timetable, but the consensus all along is that he should be ready to make his season debut at some point in early to mid-May, barring a setback. Acuna has already proven he can be a difference-maker in fantasy, but it's possible he will lose a step after now having torn the ACL in both of his knees. Still, he needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues and will be a must-start whenever he returns. Jarred Kelenic has been serving as the team's starting right fielder early on in 2025.Source: 929 The Game - Grant McAuley
Nathan MacKinnon Out On Thursday
6 days agoColorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon (undisclosed) will not be in the lineup on Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks. Reports suggest he may even miss the rest of the regular-season schedule. Following Thursday night, Colorado will have two more games remaining. MacKinnon has made 209 consecutive regular-season appearances. He shares the league's scoring lead with Tampa Bay's Nikita Kucherov, totaling 116 points (32 goals, 84 assists) in 79 contests. Jonathan Drouin (lower body) and Ross Colton (undisclosed) are also out against Vancouver, increasing the fantasy values of players like Brock Nelson and Joel Kiviranta.Source: NHL.com
Nick Castellanos Hitting Cleanup On Thursday
6 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies outfielder Nick Castellanos is in right field and is batting cleanup for Thursday's divisional clash against the Atlanta Braves and right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach at Truist Park. It's the first time that Castellanos has been in the cleanup spot this year, with the Phillies moving third baseman Alec Bohm moving down to the seven-hole after an 8-for-45 (.178) start to the year with no home runs. The 33-year-old Castellanos has been swinging a hot bat in the early going in 2025, hitting .308 (12-for-39) with two homers, three RBI and seven RBI. He's gone 7-for-18 in the last five games as well. The move up the lineup into the cleanup spot will make him a little more attractive for DFS lineups, albeit against a pitcher that has yet to give up a run this year. Castellanos has hit .222 with three RBI in nine career at-bats against Schwellenbach.Source: MLB.com
Valente Bellozo Sent To Triple-A
6 days agoThe Miami Marlins announced that they optioned right-hander Valente Bellozo to Triple-A Jacksonville after Wednesday's game to make room for right-hander Sandy Alcantara, who was reinstated from the paternity list on Thursday. Alcantara was placed on the paternity list early this week, and Bellozo was brought up to make a spot start on Monday against the New York Mets. The 25-year-old took the loss in that outing, allowing an earned run on five hits while walking two and striking out two in just 3 2/3 innings. In his first start of the year on March 29 against the Pirates, the Mexican hurler had a no-decision while giving up an earned run, walking two and striking out four in 4 1/3 innings. Bellozo will surely make more spot starts for the Marlins this year, but for now he'll head back to Jacksonville and continue to develop. Alcantara will make his next start on Saturday against the Washington Nationals.Source: Miami Marlins
Zyon Pullin Unavailable For Thursday
6 days agoMemphis Grizzlies guard Zyon Pullin (knee) won't play against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday. Pullin has been recovering from right patellar tendon surgery. He was last seen in action on February 20 playing for the G League's Memphis Hustle. It's unclear if Pullin has any chance of playing again this season, but it seems that he might be sidelined for the Memphis Grizzlies' final two regular-season games.Source: NBA
Day'Ron Sharpe Out On Thursday
6 days agoBrooklyn Nets center Day'Ron Sharpe (knee) remains out for Thursday's matchup with the Atlanta Hawks. The big man has been unavailable for the past seven games due to a right knee sprain. With just three games remaining, Sharpe may join Cam Thomas, De'Anthony Melton, and Noah Clowney as players ruled out for the rest of the season due to injuries. This season, Sharpe has averaged 7.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game.Source: NBA
Jesus Sanchez To Begin Rehab Assignment On Thursday
6 days agoMiami Marlins outfielder Jesus Sanchez (oblique) and right-hander Declan Cronin (hip) will start their minor-league rehab assignments with Triple-A Jacksonville on Thursday night, according to the team. Sanchez is finally ready to return to game action after suffering a strained left oblique in mid-March during spring training. If the 27-year-old doesn't suffer any setbacks with the Jumbo Shrimp, he could be activated from the injured list to make his 2025 debut at some point next week. When healthy, Sanchez should be Miami's starting right fielder and can be useful in mixed fantasy leagues due to his power/speed combination. When he makes contact, he hits the ball as hard as anyone in the league. However, Sanchez will need to hit the ball in the air more and strikeout out less in order to achieve his first 20-homer season in 2025.Source: MLB.com - Christina De Nicola
Masataka Yoshida To Play In Extended Spring Games Next Week
6 days agoBoston Red Sox outfielder/designated hitter Masataka Yoshida (shoulder) will play in extended spring training games in Fort Myers, Fla., starting next Monday, April 14. Yoshida won't start a minor-league rehab assignment until he is throwing at 100 percent. Manager Alex Cora said Yoshida's throwing right now is inconsistent. The 31-year-old Japanese outfielder played in 11 spring training games and hit .286 (10-for-35) with a home run and seven RBI, but he was never cleared to play defense after having offseason shoulder surgery and is still working on a throwing program in Arizona. Masataka has great bat-to-ball skills, but his limited power has been a disappointment in fantasy since he arrived in the States in 2023. It's unlikely we'll see him make his 2025 big-league debut until May, and when he does return, he'll probably be the odd-man out with Rafael Devers serving as the regular DH.Source: MLB.com - Ian Browne
Cameron Johnson Won't Play On Thursday Against Hawks
6 days agoBrooklyn Nets small forward Cameron Johnson (back) will not suit up for Thursday's contest against the Atlanta Hawks. Due to a nagging back injury, Johnson is not ready to return for Thursday night. This will be Johnson's fifth consecutive game that he's going to miss. His next chance to play will be against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday, but the Nets have just three games left in their season, and Johnson just might get sidelined for the rest of the season due to his back injury. With Johnson out, Trendon Watford will remain in the starting lineup.Source: NBA

Chris Roycroft Optioned, Roddery Munoz Coming Up
6 days agoThe St. Louis Cardinals optioned right-hander Chris Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday and are calling up right-hander Roddery Munoz from Memphis in a corresponding move, according to The Athletic's Katie Woo. In four appearances at Memphis, Munoz has allowed an earned runs on three hits while walking five and striking out seven in five innings. Roycroft had a strong spring training but allowed runs in three of his seven appearances in the regular season. The 27-year-old just hadn't been sharp with his command but will surely be given a chance again this year in St. Louis' bullpen in lower-leverage situations. Munoz, a 24-year-old Dominican, made his major-league debut last year with the Miami Marlins and had a 6.53 ERA and 1.58 WHIP with 70 strikeouts and 42 walks in 82 2/3 innings over 18 outings (17 starts).Source: The Athletic - Katie Woo
Kyle Leahy Likely To See More Late-Inning Opportunities
6 days agoWith St. Louis Cardinals relievers Chris Roycroft and Ryan Hernandez off to shaky starts in 2025, it appears that right-hander Kyle Leahy is going to be given more opportunities in the late innings out of the bullpen. Leahy started the eighth inning in a scoreless tie in Wednesday's extra-inning loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates, the highest-leverage situation Leahy has appeared in this season. He pitched around a walk and struck out two. The 27-year-old has quietly been one of St. Louis' best pitchers early on, appearing in six games while allowing one earned run over 7 2/3 frames. He hasn't allowed a hit since March 27 while walking three and striking out 10. Leahy is effective against lefties and righties thanks to a six-pitch arsenal, and he's more valuable to the Cardinals because of his ability to pitch multiple innings. Leahy might be worth a look in fantasy leagues that count holds.Source: The Athletic - Katie Woo

D'Angelo Russell Out Against Hawks
6 days agoBrooklyn Nets point guard D'Angelo Russell (ankle) will not be in action on Thursday against the Atlanta Hawks. Russell is set to miss the game due to right ankle soreness. Thursday will mark the third-straight game that Russell will miss. His next chance to suit up will be on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Reece Beekman will remain in the starting unit on Thursday due to Russell's absence. This season, Russell has played 28 games with the Nets, averaging 12.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.Source: NBA
Alejandro Kirk Getting A Breather In Series Finale
6 days agoToronto Blue Jays catcher Alejandro Kirk is being rested for Thursday's series finale at Fenway Park against the division-rival Boston Red Sox in the series finale. Tyler Heineman will catch right-hander Chris Bassitt and will bat eighth against Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler. It shouldn't be surprising that Kirk is on the bench for this one after catching the entire 11-inning win over Boston on Wednesday night. The 26-year-old has gone 10-for-40 with a double, two RBI, three runs scored, no walks and six strikeouts in his first 10 games this year as Toronto's primary backstop. Fantasy managers setting DFS lineups should be able to do better than Heineman at catcher. The 33-year-old veteran does have six hits (one homer) in his first 14 at-bats this year, but he'll have little upside in the nine-hole. Heineman is hitless in just two career at-bats against Buehler.Source: MLB.com
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Resting On Thursday
6 days agoToronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is not in the team's starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Will Wagner will make the start at first base and bat fifth against Red Sox right-hander Walker Buehler. This will be Guerrero's first day off of the 2025 season after he started the year going 15-for-52 (.288) with three doubles, four RBI, six walks and 10 strikeouts in 13 games played. While the 26-year-old has hit well, he still hasn't cleared the fences for his fantasy managers. That will hopefully happen this weekend in Baltimore against the division-rival Orioles. Until then, fantasy managers will need to move Vladdy to their benches on Thursday. Wagner has gotten off to an 8-for-30 start in 10 games with two doubles and two RBI for Toronto. He has never faced Buehler in his career.Source: MLB.com
Troy Reeder Back With Rams On One-Year Deal
6 days agoThe Los Angeles Rams are re-signing linebacker Troy Reeder to a one-year deal, according to FOX NFL reporter Eric Williams. Reeder began his career with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Delaware in 2019 and spent three seasons with the team before one year with the Chargers and two years back with the Rams. Overall, the 30-year-old has racked up 310 tackles (180 solo), five sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions, 10 pass deflections, and 13.5 run stuff in 89 career games. He appeared in just six names last year and logged 46 total tackles. Depending on what happens during the 2025 NFL Draft, Reeder will likely enter next season as the backup to Nate Landman at inside linebacker.Source: Eric Williams
Bears "Love" Ashton Jeanty
6 days agoAccording to ESPN's Matt Miller and scouts around the NFL, the Chicago Bears "love" Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty as a prospect and could be targeting the 2024 Heisman Trophy runner-up with the No. 10 selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeanty took the college football world by storm last season, posting 2,601 rushing yards and 30 total touchdowns. However, Jeanty might not make it to Chicago if they stay put at No. 10, as the Las Vegas Raiders, who hold the No. 6 selection, are rumored to be interested in picking him there. Chicago has two second-round picks, so they could be aggressive in trading up. However, the team has other needs at defensive tackle and edge rusher, so the range of outcomes is wide in the first year under head coach Ben Johnson.Source: ESPN
Spencer Strider Strikes Out 13 In Thursday's Rehab Outing
6 days agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider (elbow) dominated in Thursday's minor-league rehab outing as he struck out 13 batters across 5 1/3 innings of work. He allowed just three hits, two walks, and one earned run. This was Strider's third rehab outing with Triple-A Gwinnett. Given that he was able to reach 90 pitches suggests he should be ready to make his regular-season debut in the majors. In his first two outings, Strider struck out 14 batters and allowed one run across 8 1/3 innings of work. Strider has been sidelined since undergoing an internal-brace procedure last April. He was able to participate in spring training but was placed on the 15-day injured list to continue to slowly build up his workload. Fantasy managers should monitor Atlanta's projected starters, as he could make his season debut as early as next week.Source: MiLB.com
Panthers Likely To Have Defense-Heavy Draft
6 days agoThe Carolina Panthers are continuing to evaluate quarterback Bryce Young, and adding high-caliber pass-catchers around him will be critical in that process. However, the team ranked last in total yards allowed per game (404.5) last season and is expected to use most of its nine picks in the 2025 NFL Draft to address that side of the ball. According to Panthers reporter David Newton, seven of the nine picks being used on defense is a fair estimate, and it's almost a guarantee Carolina will use its first-round pick on a front-seven defender. Georgia edge rushers Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker are potential targets in the top 10 of this month's draft. In a weak overall wide receiver class, Carolina could wait until the later rounds to address that need.Source: ESPN
Austin Hays Starting Rehab Assignment
6 days agoCincinnati Reds outfielder Austin Hays (calf) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Thursday. Hays has been sidelined through the first two weeks of the regular season due to a low-grade calf strain. Fantasy managers should monitor his status with Louisville as he could be cleared for action as soon as next week. Hays inked a one-year, $5 million contract with the Reds earlier in the winter. He enjoyed a productive spring training, and several reports projected him to open the season as the team's leadoff hitter. Last summer, the 29-year-old logged 85 games split between the Orioles and the Phillies and held a cumulative .255/.303/.396 slash line with five round-trippers. When healthy, he is worth a look in five outfielder leagues, especially if he bats in the top half of the lineup.Source: Cincinnati Reds
Browns Could Trade Back Into Round 1 For QB
6 days agoThe Cleveland Browns hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and despite the need at quarterback after the failed Deshaun Watson experience, the team is expected to take either Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter with the early selection. However, ESPN's Jordan Reid speculates that Cleveland could either trade back into the first round to select or quarterback or address the position in Round 2 with the No. 33 overall selection. Colorado's Shedeur Sanders or Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart are potential targets if a trade-up occurs, while Alabama's Jalen Milroe or Louisville's Tyler Shough would make sense at the start of Day 2. For now, Kenny Pickett is penciled in as Cleveland's starter, but the team will almost certainly select a quarterback at some point in late April's draft.Source: ESPN
Rhys Hoskins, Sal Frelick Sitting On Thursday
6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins and outfielder Sal Frelick are not in Thursday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Colorado Rockies. Fantasy managers should expect both Hoskins and Frelick to return to the lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday evening. Hoskins has tallied just two hits over his previous four games and will cede first base duties to Jake Bauers, who will bat sixth. Frelick is riding a six-game hitting streak and has enjoyed a very productive start to the campaign. With Frelick sitting out, Jackson Chourio will shift to right field, opening up left field for Christian Yelich. The Brewers are a great lineup to target in DFS competitions this afternoon as they will face Colorado right-handed pitcher Ryan Feltner.Source: MLB.com
Titans Eyeing Wide Receiver With Second Selection In Draft?
6 days agoThe Tennessee Titans are overwhelmingly expected to pick Miami quarterback Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Ward will give Tennessee its potential franchise quarterback, but the team still needs to address the wide receiver spot behind Calvin Ridley, who posted over 1,000 yards in his first year with the organization. According to ESPN's Matt Miller, Tennessee is expected to be aggressive in adding a wideout and could trade back into the first round to land Missouri's Luther Burden III or Ohio State's Emeka Egbuka. The two pass-catchers were all-conference performers in the SEC and Big Ten, respectively last season. That said, one or both wide receivers could be available with the Titans' No. 35 overall pick, so all options are on the table.Source: ESPN
Omarion Hampton Visiting With Giants On Thursday
6 days agoThe New York Giants are hosting North Carolina running back Omarion Hampton on a visit Thursday, according to NFL.com. The team is reportedly doing work on running back prospects ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, and Hampton is largely viewed as the RB2 in the class behind Boise State's Ashton Jeanty. That said, he is expected to be picked in the back half of the first round, so the Giants would likely need to trade back into Round 1 if they have a shot to land him. Hampton posted over 1,500 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns in each of his last two collegiate seasons and could be a true workhorse at the next level. Tyrone Tracy Jr. impressed as a rookie for the G-Men, but the organization could be looking to add a true difference-maker at the position after losing Saquon Barkley last offseason.Source: NFL.com
Ezequiel Tovar Sitting With Hip Injury
6 days agoColorado Rockies shortstop Ezequiel Tovar (hip) is not in Thursday's starting lineup due to a hip injury. Tovar has been dealing with this injury for some time and will get the day off. He will look to return to action on Friday evening against the San Diego Padres. Instead, Kyle Farmer will get the nod at shortstop and bat in the three-hole. Through the first 11 games of the season, Tovar has held a .277/.306/.404 slash line with four doubles and two stolen bases. He has scored four runs and added four RBI. He enjoyed a breakout campaign last summer as he launched 26 long balls, swiped six bags, and held a .269/.295/.469 slash line. When healthy, Tovar should continue to see everyday opportunities in the Colorado starting nine. Farmer is worth a look as a value play in DFS facing right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester.Source: Kyle Newman
Luis F. Castillo Sent Back To Triple-A
6 days agoSeattle Mariners right-handed pitcher Luis F. Castillo was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma following their contest on Wednesday afternoon against the Houston Astros. Castillo was given two starts during his brief stint in the big leagues but will now head back to the top level of the minor leagues to continue his development. On Wednesday, Castillo stumbled as he allowed six hits and four runs (three earned) with five walks across four innings of work. Castillo also logged four 2/3 innings in the major leagues last season and did not allow a run. The 30-year-old was initially promoted to provide depth in the rotation with George Kirby (shoulder) on the IL. Fantasy managers should monitor the Seattle rotation as they could promote Emerson Hancock to fill the spot in the rotation.Source: Seattle Mariners
