7 days agoThe Pittsburgh Steelers made All-Pro pass-rusher T.J. Watt the highest-paid defensive player in the league before the 2021 season at around $28 million per year, and ESPN's Dan Graziano suggests the best way for the Steelers to knock down Watt's team-high $30.4 million salary cap number in 2025 is to give him an extension as he heads into the final year of his previous extension. A new extension could be much trickier to navigate, though, and could drag well into the offseason. Watt is 30 years old now and will be in a market in which both Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons will be looking to set the edge-rusher market. Even though Watt had 11.5 sacks (down from 19 in 2023), he was still plenty disruptive with 61 tackles (40 solo), 19 tackles for loss, 27 QB hits, four pass breakups and a league-high six forced fumbles in 17 regular-season starts. He's injury-prone, but you know you're getting a beast in IDP leagues when he's healthy.Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano
7 days agoDallas Mavericks forward P.J. Washington (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Washington has played in the last two games, but he did miss three games ahead of the All-Star break due to an ankle injury. It sounds like it's something that is still bothering Washington, but he has looked fine during each of the last two games. If he sits, Naji Marshall and Olivier-Maxence Prosper would see increased playing time. Between the two, Marshall is the better streaming choice, but he's only worth a look if Washington is unable to play.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoPhiladelphia 76ers guard Quentin Grimes (knee) was unable to return during Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls. Grimes was ruled out in the third quarter due to a knee injury. To be fair, the Sixers were already getting blown out, so there really was no incentive to put Grimes back out there. The injury is being called right knee soreness, so we'll see if Grimes is forced to miss any time. Lonnie Walker IV could take on a bigger role if Grimes does miss time.Source: Ky Carlin

7 days agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Guerschon Yabusele (eye) was forced to exit early during Monday's game against the Chicago Bulls. He exited in the third quarter due to a corneal abrasion in one of his eyes, according to head coach Nick Nurse. However, it sounds like Yabusele is dealing with an issue in both eyes, but one is worse than the other. The 76ers are already shorthanded at center with Joel Embiid (knee) possibly done for the season. That being said, Andre Drummond and Adem Bona could be asked to play bigger minutes going forward. Between the two, Drummond is the better streaming option due to his rebounding ability.Source: Kyle Neubeck
7 days agoIf the Cleveland Browns soften their stance and decide to trade All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett this offseason, they would have to wait until after June 1 to make it work from a salary cap perspective. Trading Garrett before June 1 would result in a dead-money hit of more than $36 million, which is way higher than the roughly $19.7 million that he'd count against the 2025 cap if he was on their roster. The problem with having to wait to trade Garrett until after June 1 is that the Browns couldn't get draft picks for this year in return for him. It's probably why the Browns held firm on their stance of not wanting to trade Garrett, even after he publicly requested a trade in the week before the Super Bowl in early February. If the Browns look to trade the disgruntled star pass-rusher after June 1, it's possible they could receive two first-round selections for the 2026 draft.Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano
7 days agoNico Echavarria has been a machine. The Colombian golfer may not have the best of results in 2025. However, at the Genesis, Echavarria fell back a little after the third round. However, he does have two wins during his career. Echavarria has made four of his six cuts and finished runner-up at the Sony Open. He lost in a playoff to Nick Taylor. Echavarria has had a warm to hot putter, ranking 19th in strokes gained to putting at 0.607. His driving accuracy ranks 36th in the early going at 64.77% and ranks a respectable 57th in birdies per round at 4.29. The key will be setting up to make birdies. Echavarria could be a factor for DFS purposes. Source: PGATour.com
7 days agoNFL Competition Committee chairman and Atlanta Falcons CEO Rich McKay told reporters on Monday at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis that the league is considering changes that would lead to more kick returns in 2025. The committee will discuss giving teams possession at the 35-yard line instead of the 30-yard line in addition to kickoffs being attempted from five yards further back. The change to the new dynamic kickoff in 2024 led to a 57 percent rise in returns and a lower injury rate, according to the NFL. Additionally, the committee will try to find ways for the onside kick to be tweaked to improve the odds of the kicking team recovering the ball. Any changes that the committee proposes would require the approval of 24 of the 32 teams, as always.Source: Pro Football Talk - Josh Alper
7 days agoNFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent told reporters on Monday at the scouting combine in Indianapolis that an unidentified team has submitted a rule proposal to ban the "tush push." Unless the team withdraws its proposal, NFL owners could vote on the proposal next month at the annual league meeting in Florida. If it did go to a vote, 24 of the league's 32 owners would have to vote in favor for it to pass. "It's the way they deemed it, the tush push. ... It's on our agenda. The club proposal is, 'We need to make some adjustments to that. Is that a viable football play?'" Vincent said. The Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills have used the play more than the rest of the NFL combined, according to ESPN Research, using the short-yardage play 163 times. They've scored or achieved a first down on 87% of their attempts, while the rest of the league has been successful only 71% of the time.Source: ESPN.com
7 days agoLSU offensive tackle Will Campbell has been the player most linked to the New England Patriots heading into this year's NFL draft, writes The Athletic's Chad Graff. If Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter is off the board by the time the Patriots pick at No. 4 overall, Graff says that it would come down to Campbell or Michigan defensive tackle Mason Graham for him. Graham could be rated higher, but Campbell fills more of an immediate need to New England on their offensive line. The final decision could come down to how the Pats address their O-line in free agency. Another factor could come down to Campbell's less-than-ideal arm length, which could mean he's destined to play guard at the next level and mean he'd be more of a reach at fourth overall. The biggest knock against Graham is that this year's defensive tackle class is very deep.Source: The Athletic - Chad Graff
7 days agoBrian Campbell started off hot in Mexico last week. The American golfer went 65-65-64 before scrambling with a final round 70. He was able to survive and birdie the second playoff hole against Aldrich Potgieter. Last week's birdie binge helped Campbell gain several strokes on the field especially early. Campbell has never played the Cognizant. The PGA National Resort and Spa features the Champion Course. Vidanta Vallarta was not very difficult until late in Round 4. Campbell does not drive the ball exceedingly well. He averaged 277.8 yards in Mexico. It comes down to putting for the golfer. Source: PGATour.com

7 days agoThe Atlanta Journal-Constitution's D. Orlando Ledbetter writes that the Atlanta Falcons have yet to start extension talks with linebacker Matthew Judon. In his first year with the Falcons in 2024 after being acquired in a trade with the New England Patriots, the four-time Pro Bowler was a disappointment, collecting 41 tackles (25 solo), 5.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, nine QB hits, his first career interception (which he ran back for a touchdown), and five pass breakups in 17 games (15 starts). The 32-year-old's 5.5 sacks were his fewest since 2020 with the Baltimore Ravens, when he had six. It wouldn't be a surprise if the Falcons let Judon hit the open market after his disappointing season, but he should still have plenty of suitors. Fantasy managers in IDP leagues definitely shouldn't be expecting Judon to return to double-digit sacks in 2025, regardless of where he's playing.Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. 7 days agoESPN's Adam Schefter reports Penn State defensive end Abdul Carter (shoulder), who could be the No. 1 overall pick in his year's draft, will not work out at the NFL scouting combine in Indianapolis this week because he isn't fully recovered from the shoulder injury that he suffered against Boise State, according to his agents Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. The young pass-rusher played through his shoulder injury in the semifinal game against Notre Dame and was only recently cleared to resume training. Carter will do physical exams and interviews at the combine but won't do on-field workouts until his Pro Day at Penn State on March 28. While Carter could be in play for the No. 1 overall pick, it's still more likely that either Miami quarterback Cam Ward or Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders go No. 1 to the Tennessee Titans in April.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
7 days agoThe Las Vegas Raiders re-signed safety Isaiah Pola-Mao to a two-year contract extension worth up to $8.45 million on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Pola-Mao was a restricted free agent and the nephew of Hall of Fame defensive back Troy Polamalu. The 25-year-old former undrafted free agent out of USC eventually latched on with the Raiders and made his NFL debut back in 2022. He started the final 1 games for the Raiders in 2024 and was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 16. In 17 total games played (14 starts), Pola-Mao broke out to the tune of 89 tackles (57 solo), one sack, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles. Pola-Mao will now stick around in Vegas for another two seasons and should play a key role again in their secondary in 2025. He had only 40 combined tackles and two sacks in 27 games (no starts) in his first two seasons with the Raiders.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
7 days agoNFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Cleveland Browns are releasing veteran safety Juan Thornhill, according to sources. After meeting in recent days, both sides agreed that the best decision was to release Thornhill so that he'll have a few weeks of a head start on free agency this offseason. The 29-year-old had one year and $7 million left on his deal with Cleveland. He will be designated as a post-June 1 cut and will save the Browns $3.2 million on the 2025 salary cap. It's not a surprising move, as Thornhill only played in 11 games in each of his two seasons after signing a three-year, $21 million deal before the 2023 campaign. He had become a rotational player late last season and accumulated 103 tackles (72 solo), no interceptions and four pass breakups in 22 starts for the Browns in his two seasons. Thornhill spent his first four years with the Chiefs after they took him in the second round in 2019.Source: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
7 days agoDallas Cowboys impending free-agent quarterback Trey Lance is expected to move on in free agency this offseason, as chief executive officer Stephen Jones said that Lance is "probably going to be looking for something different." The Cowboys acquired Lance from the San Francisco 49ers before the start of the 2023 season, but he didn't play at all that year and appeared in just four games (one start) in 2024 as the third-stringer, throwing for 266 yards, no touchdowns and one interception. Backup Cooper Rush is also headed toward free agency, but the Cowboys would probably prefer to draft a new QB to groom as Dak Prescott's (hamstring) backup than re-sign Lance. The 24-year-old former third overall pick by the Niners in 2021 was injured in his rookie season and hasn't really ever gotten the chance to live up to his high expectations. He'll be looking for backup work on the open market in March.Source: Dallas Morning News - David Moore
7 days agoThe Athletic's Mike DeFabo thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers might want to consider trading safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who hasn't played at a Pro Bowl level in two years. Even if the Steelers were to trade the big-money star, they'd still have the NFL's most expensive defense. Pittsburgh is set to have the most expensive defense in the league in 2025 for the fourth straight season with $163.8 million in salary cap hits, according to Over The Cap. That number is $27 million more than the second-highest spender on defense, the Tennessee Titans. If Fitzpatrick were traded, the Steelers would save $15.5 million of his $24.4 million salary cap hit this year, which would help them address an undermanned offense. The former 11th overall pick bounced back in 2024 and made the Pro Bowl for the fifth time in his career by recording 96 tackles (62 solo), one interception and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season starts.Source: The Athletic - Mike DeFabo
7 days agoLos Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (foot) is listed as probable for Tuesday's intriguing encounter with the Dallas Mavericks. Luka Doncic will go up against his former team, and James is expected to be his sidekick in the contest. The Lakers continue to include him on the injury report with a left foot injury, but James has taken off just four nights in 2024-25. Since the All-Star break, James has elevated his game, averaging 30.3 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoHouston Rockets forward Jae'Sean Tate (back) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. He might have to sit out a second straight game due to back spasms. This season, Tate has struggled to earn a meaningful role in the rotation, so his absence does not have a big impact. Jeff Green, Tari Eason, and Cam Whitmore may pick up a bit of extra work off the bench with Tate out of the lineup.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoHouston Rockets center Steven Adams (ankle) looks set to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Bucks, as the team hasn't listed him on the injury report. Adams missed Saturday's matchup against the Utah Jazz as Houston completed a back-to-back set. On Tuesday, the veteran big man will provide additional depth in the frontcourt behind starting center Alperen Sengun. Adams is a fantasy afterthought these days, with him averaging 3.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 12.4 minutes.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoHouston Rockets forward Tari Eason (leg) is not on the injury report for Tuesday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. He missed the last game against the Utah Jazz as he continued to manage a lower leg injury, and the team completed a back-to-back set. Eason has been a starter in each of his last five appearances, but Jabari Smith Jr.'s return to action hurts his chances of maintaining the role going forward. This hurts Eason's fantasy appeal, though he has also been productive coming off the bench, averaging 11.2 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.9 steals as a member of the second unit this season.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoHouston Rockets guard/forward Dillon Brooks (illness) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Brooks has been ever-present for Houston in 2025 but might have to exit the lineup on Tuesday due to an illness. Fred VanVleet (ankle), who is close to returning to the starting lineup, may fill his spot in the starting lineup. Cam Whitmore and Tari Eason (leg) are also potential options to move into the first unit, with the latter having been removed from the injury report.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoChicago Cubs starting pitching prospect Cade Horton (shoulder) completed a bullpen session on Sunday. The right-handed pitcher faced four batters in the brief session. This was the first time Horton faced live batters since being shut down last June. Horton is considered not only the team's top pitching prospect but also one of the top options in their system. Before being shut down last summer, Horton was nearing his MLB debut. He opened the 2024 campaign by getting his second look at Double-A, where he posted a stellar 1.10 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP across 16 1/3 innings. He tallied 18 punchouts and served up just two walks. He was then given a brief look at Triple-A, where he allowed 15 runs in just 18 frames. The former seventh-overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft is a name to monitor during camp, as he should be in contention to make his MLB debut later this season if he can move past this injury. He will likely open the season with Triple-A Iowa.Source: Jordan Bastian
7 days agoHouston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet (ankle) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's tilt against the Milwaukee Bucks. Last week, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka stated that VanVleet is "about 80 percent" healthy, so the former All-Star looks close to being ready to return from a nine-game absence. If his comeback doesn't happen on Tuesday, VanVleet will have another chance to suit up on Wednesday against the San Antonio Spurs. VanVleet's return may push Amen Thompson back to the bench; however, the two might fit in the starting unit together, with Dillon Brooks (illness) possibly unavailable on Tuesday.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoKansas City Royals right-handed pitcher Alec Marsh (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Monday. After the session, Marsh expressed that this was his "first bullpen of the year." The 26-year-old is currently working his way back from shoulder tightness. Marsh began feeling this tightness during an offseason throwing program. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he is still slightly behind schedule. Marsh is expected to compete for a spot in the Kansas City rotation when he is cleared for action. Last season, the 26-year-old posted a 4.53 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP across 129 frames. He tallied 123 punchouts but generated a hefty 4.97 xERA. He also generated a weak 38.8 percent ground-ball rate. Marsh will compete alongside Kris Bubic for the final spot in the rotation.Source: Jaylon Thompson
7 days agoBoston Celtics forward/center Al Horford (personal) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Raptors. The veteran had only four points in Sunday's win over the New York Knicks. However, with Jrue Holiday (rest) sitting out on Tuesday, Horford will likely enter the starting lineup if he's available, meaning a bounce back performance is possible. He's averaged 9.1 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists in 29 starts this season. But if Horford doesn't suit up, either Payton Pritchard or Sam Hauser could fill the hole in the rotation.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoOrlando Magic guard Jalen Suggs (quadriceps) will not rejoin the lineup on Tuesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has been ruled out for a 13th consecutive game. Suggs had an impressive start to the season, but health issues have significantly impacted his year. He has played just once since Jan. 3. Cole Anthony and Anthony Black have received more work during Suggs' absence. Anthony has enjoyed an eight-game spell as a starter but produced a five-point dud in Sunday's win over the Washington Wizards. On Sunday, Black was tied for the most points on the team with 23. However, he had finished the previous contest with zero points, showing that inconsistency continues to be an issue for the second-year player.Source: NBA Injury Report
7 days agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Marcus Stroman will not make his scheduled start on Tuesday. Instead, the right-hander will stay in Tampa to pitch live batting practice. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during camp but he is currently facing an uphill battle to open the season in the rotation. He is currently penciled in to be the No. 6 option behind Clarke Schmidt (back) but could slide into the rotation if Schmidt continues to be limited due to his current injury. Schmidt has been limited during the early part of camp but is unlikely to miss time in the regular season. As a result, Stroman will likely open the 2025 campaign in a long relief role. Last season, Stroman held a 4.31 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP across 154 2/3 innings. He tallied 113 punchouts and generated a high 4.94 xERA. Stroman will carry little fantasy value if he opens the season in the bullpen.Source: Bryan Hoch
7 days agoCleveland Cavaliers point guard Darius Garland (hip) once again carries a questionable tag on the injury report ahead of Tuesday's clash against the Orlando Magic. He was also considered questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies and was eventually ruled out. Isaac Okoro stepped into the starting lineup as Garland's replacement, though Ty Jerome benefitted the most from his absence. Jerome matched his third-highest scoring output of the season with a 26-point effort. He will likely handle extra offensive duties again on Tuesday if Garland remains out.Source: NBA Injury Report
