Pittsburgh Pirates left-hander Bailey Falter (back) was removed from his start early on Tuesday against the hosting Los Angeles Angels due to lower-back tightness, according to the team. Falter is currently being treated by the team's medical staff, and the Pirates will provide an update on his condition when new information becomes available. Before departing the contest in Anaheim, Falter had allowed three earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking none and striking out five in four innings (65 pitches). It's anyone's guess as to whether the 27-year-old southpaw will be able to make his next scheduled start on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Even if Falter's injury is minor and he's able to toe the rubber this weekend, fantasy managers will want to avoid him in that matchup. He has been inconsistent so far in 2025 and entered Tuesday's outing with a 4.91 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in his four starts.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Pittsburgh Pirates

Though there is good value in a deep running back class in this year's NFL draft, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he believes Jaylen Warren can be the team's top running back after the departure of 2021 first-rounder Najee Harris in free agency to the Los Angeles Chargers. "I certainly feel comfortable with his ability to do so," Tomlin said of Warren. "He got hampered by injury some in 2024. He appears to be ready to answer that. I know he's really excited about his opportunity. I don't think myself or anyone within the organization question his talents in regards to managing the ability to manage potentially that role." The 26-year-old signed his one-year, $5.35 million restricted free-agent tender on Tuesday, but that doesn't mean the two sides won't work out a long-term extension. Warren's 2025 fantasy value will depend on whether the Steelers add a RB in this week's NFL draft.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: ESPN.com - Brooke Pryor

San Diego Padres infield prospect Leodalis De Vries had a monster day at the plate for High-A Fort Wayne on Tuesday, completing the cycle in a 5-for-5 performance. The 18-year-old collected a single, a double, a triple, and two home runs to go along with eight RBI and two runs scored. The effort pushed his season slash line to .294/.351/.608 through 13 games. The Padres' top prospect (MLB No. 17) held his own as a 17-year-old at Single-A last season and now appears to be doing the same at High-A. If he continues to hit, expect to see him test his mettle at Double-A by season's end, although it may be a couple of years before he sees the majors. Nevertheless, still so young and with so much potential, dynasty managers should be keeping a close eye on the switch-hitter's progression.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: MiLB.com

Milwaukee Brewers catching prospect Jeferson Quero (hamstring, shoulder) has resumed baseball activities as he continues his return from multiple injuries. The Venezuelan backstop made one plate appearance last season before going down with a shoulder injury that required surgery, then suffered a hamstring injury in spring training this year. Whenever the 22-year-old gets back in the lineup, it is expected to be with Triple-A Nashville, but the Brewers' top prospect (MLB No. 44) should make his major-league debut at some point later this year. However, after missing so much time and with William Contreras locked in at catcher, there is no need to rush it. With a 16-homer campaign under his belt in just 90 games in 2023, there is some pop in his bat, so fantasy managers needing catcher help will want to monitor his progression, although he is known more for his work behind the plate than his offense.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBallerSource: Adam McCalvy

It was another close call for Andrew Novak, who lost in a playoff to Justin Thomas at the RBC Heritage after nearly missing in his previous start in Texas. It was a great week in Hilton Head for the former Wofford Terrier, who led the field in strokes gained tee to green (+2.22). This was his third chance at capturing his first career PGA Tour victory this season. He'll tee it up at the Zurich Classic this week with Ben Griffin, a pairing that should be fairly competitive if Novak can continue gaining strokes on the greens like he has over his last two starts. It is a difficult mental hurdle to continue putting yourself in winning positions like he has without getting the job done, but a nice change-of-pace event could be good to reset the focus.--Todd McGill - RotoBallerSource: Data Golf

Boston Red Sox outfield prospect Roman Anthony has reportedly been dealing with soreness in his right shoulder, which has limited Boston's top prospect (MLB No. 2) to designated hitter duties since April 11. Perhaps thisread more...

It's been a slow spring for Ben Griffin, although he has managed to finish T18-T40 in his last two events. The 28-year-old has still been one of the better players this season statistically, ranking 42nd in strokes gained tee to green (+0.545) and top 60 in strokes gained on approach and around the green. He'll tee it up Thursday at TPC Louisiana alongside Andrew Novak, who nearly won last week in Hilton Head. Putting may be a concern for both players, but more so for Griffin, who ranks 102nd in strokes gained putting (-0.035). He's also looking to make the cut for the first time, having missed the cut the previous two years with other partners.--Todd McGill - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Nick Pivetta pitched seven shutout innings in a 2-0 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. He allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six. This was his third straight quality start and his fourth of the season. Outside of a rough start on April 5 against the Cubs when he gave up three runs in three innings, he's pitched like an ace. In his four other starts, he's allowed just one run in 27 innings with 26 strikeouts compared to only four walks. He'll look to continue his breakout year in his next start, which is currently lined up to be against the Giants.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) ran the bases on Tuesday and feels back to 100 percent. He'll have a rest day on Wednesday and will likely begin a minor-league rehab assignment on Thursday, according to manager Rob Thomson. This is a quick turnaround for the 27-year-old, as he was only officially placed on the 10-day injured list two days ago. It was retroactive to April 17, meaning he would be eligible to return this weekend if his rehab goes well. Hopefully this extended break will help him snap out of his early-season slump, as he's batting just .095 so far through 17 games.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: Lochlahn March

Washington Nationals starting pitcher Mitchell Parker shut out the Orioles over eight innings on Tuesday in a 7-0 victory, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out four. He has been as solid as they come to begin 2025, as this was his fifth straight quality start. He's allowed one run or less in four of his five appearances, and his ERA is now down to a minuscule 1.39 on the year. He still doesn't offer much strikeout upside with only 20 through 32 ⅓ innings, but he's pitching too well right now to leave on fantasy waiver wires.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Javier Assad (oblique) left his rehab start early on Tuesday after grabbing at his side while warming up for the fifth inning. This certainly isn't good news for the right-hander, especially since it appears like a re-aggravation of the oblique injury that he is rehabbing. There should be more updates after he is evaluated further, but it looks like he will have to wait even longer before making his return to the major league roster.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: Jason Kempf

Taylor Moore has been a steady presence on tour this season, posting six finishes of T42 or better and missing just two cuts in his first nine starts. He missed the cut at this event last year with three-time teammate Matt NeSmith, despite back-to-back fourth-place finishes in previous years, but this time he gets a boost by partnering with former U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark. Moore has struggled on approach, ranking 123rd on tour, but he makes up for it off the tee, where he ranks 20th. He's also been sharp around the greens, ranking 12th in strokes gained per round at plus-0.373. Both players have had success at the Zurich Classic in the past, and while they may not be the most high-profile pairing in the field, their experience could very well have them in contention come the weekend.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez (hamstring) is nearing a return to the major league rotation. He made a successful rehab start on Saturday, allowing one run on three hits with four strikeouts over 4 ⅔ innings and 63 pitches. He threw a bullpen session on Tuesday and is happy with where everything is at. There is no official word yet on which day he will make his first start back, but he is eligible to be activated from the injured list on Thursday. He'll look to pick up where he left off before the injury, as he posted a 1.62 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in his first three starts of the year.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: Aaron Gleeman

After opening with a 65 at the RBC Heritage, Wyndham Clark couldn't maintain that momentum and settled for a T27 finish. He now returns to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, an event he skipped last year, and will be teaming up with a new partner in Taylor Moore. Clark has a strong track record at TPC Louisiana, finishing third, 10th, and T17 in his last three appearances, each with a different teammate. While there aren't many standout statistical indicators for success at this event, Clark ranks 94th in approach and 92nd off the tee, but he brings value in the short game, sitting 47th in both strokes gained putting and around the green. This pairing may not be the flashiest on paper, but Clark's history at this venue speaks for itself.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Cristopher Sanchez was pulled from his start after just two innings and 58 pitches due to left forearm soreness. He will be evaluated further before any more updates are given, but this isn't good news for the breakout lefty. The injury was already starting to show itself early in the start, as his velocity was noticeably down a tick to start the game. It looked like he was taking the next step into ace territory in 2025, posting a 2.96 ERA with 31 strikeouts and six walks through his first four starts of the season. Hopefully this injury isn't the worst-case scenario, but more information should be available within the coming days.--Jeremy Heist - RotoBallerSource: Lochlahn March

Kurt Kitayama has had a rocky stretch lately, missing the cut in five of his last eight starts, but he'll be hoping a return to team play at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans helps spark a turnaround. Teaming up once again with superstar Collin Morikawa after a solid T23 finish last year, Kitayama brings serious firepower to the pairing. He's one of the longest hitters on tour, averaging 315.8 yards off the tee (sixth-best), and ranks 13th in strokes gained off the tee per round at plus-0.508. That kind of distance will be a real weapon in the alternate-shot format, especially when paired with Morikawa's elite ball-striking. With Kitayama's power and Morikawa's precision, this team has the tools to do some real damage and is a pairing to watch throughout the week.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Short-game woes continue to plague Collin Morikawa, as he lost 7.25 strokes around the green and putting at the RBC Heritage, ultimately finishing T54. It marks the fourth straight event in which he has lost strokes with his flat stick, but perhaps some pressure being taken off at this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans is exactly what he needs to turn things around. Morikawa will once again team up with Kurt Kitayama, with the duo having finished T23 at this event in 2024. Despite his short-game struggles, Morikawa still ranks third in total strokes gained per round, second in approach, and fourth in driving accuracy. He may need to carry the bulk of the weight, but this pairing remains one of the more intriguing teams to watch.--Dakota Legg - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren has signed a one-year, $5.3 million deal with the organization on Tuesday. Warren signed as a restricted free agent as he enters his final year before free agency. Warren figures to be the lead back for the first time in his professional career this upcoming season. Najee Harris has departed via free agency, which opens a door for Warren to be the No. 1 back in this offense. It's possibly that the Steelers do draft a running back in the upcoming NFL Draft. Nonetheless, Warren should get the first chance to be the lead back in 2025. Last season, Warren finished with 511 rushing yards and 310 receiving yards in 15 games as the primary backup in Pittsburgh. The assumption is that his fantasy value is going to rise with a move to the lead back spot.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Adam Schefter

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Rengifo (mouth) is out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates after having a root canal on Monday, according to manager Ron Washington. Rengifo was cleared to play, but Washington wanted Kevin Newman to get a chance to play against Pirates left-hander Bailey Falter, who he has gone 5-for-11 against in his career. Newman is starting at third base and is batting in the nine-hole for the Halos, though, so he will still be a poor choice for DFS lineups with little fantasy upside. Fantasy managers should expect Rengifo to return to the Angels' starting lineup at third base on Wednesday. The 28-year-old Venezuelan infielder has gotten off to a slow start offensively in 2025, going 17-for-78 (.218) with a homer, seven RBI, no steals and eight runs scored in his first 21 games played.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com - Rhett Bollinger

The New York Yankees announced on Tuesday that they signed left-hander Tyler Matzek to a major-league contract and selected him to their active roster and designated right-hander Yoendrys Gomez for assignment in a corresponding move. The Yankees signed Matzek to a minor-league deal back in February, but now he'll join their big-league bullpen for the time being. The 34-year-old veteran southpaw began the season in the minors due to an oblique injury that he suffered in spring training in March, but now he's past the issue and will provide New York with a lefty arm out of their 'pen. In 5 2/3 relief innings for Single-A Tampa and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this year, he gave up two earned runs while walking two and striking out seven. Matzek has a 3.72 career ERA, 1.36 WHIP and just one save in his six major-league seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Yankees PR Department

Tampa Bay Rays outfield prospect Chandler Simpson is starting in center field and is hitting leadoff on Tuesday against the hosting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Brandon Pfaadt. The Rays' No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was called up from the minors to make his major-league debut on Saturday against the New York Yankees, and he's gone 2-for-8 with a double, RBI, stolen base, run scored and a strikeout in his first two games. This will be the second time in his first three MLB games that the 24-year-old speedster will hit leadoff for Tampa. Simpson isn't going to provide much pop for fantasy managers -- he had only one extra-base hit in his first 78 plate appearances at Triple-A Durham before his promotion -- but he's worth rostering in deeper formats for his speed, especially if he sticks in the leadoff spot and sees regular playing time.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

Cincinnati Reds left-hander Wade Miley (elbow) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday night with High-A Dayton, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Charlie Goldsmith. Miley continues his recovery from an internal-brace procedure/Tommy John surgery last May and still has a long ways to go before he's considered an option for the Reds' major-league starting rotation. Even if the 38-year-old veteran soft-tosser makes it back to the big leagues in the first half of the 2025 season, he's not going to present fantasy managers with much upside, if any at all, in the strikeout department. Those in mixed leagues should have more attractive options to choose from. Miley only made two starts for the Milwaukee Brewers before being shut down in 2024 and has a career 7.0 K/9 in 14 MLB seasons.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Charlie Goldsmith

Cincinnati Reds left-handed reliever Sam Moll (shoulder) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment on Tuesday with Triple-A Louisville, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Gordon Wittenmyer. Moll is working his way back since landing on the injured list in the middle of April due to an impingement in his left shoulder, but he's getting closer to making a return to Cincinnati's bullpen. The 33-year-old veteran southpaw isn't a fantasy asset, though, especially after a rough start to his 2025 campaign with four earned runs allowed in two innings pitched as well as three walks and one strikeout. When he's activated from the injured list, Moll will operate in a middle-relief role. In his six seasons in the majors, he has a 3.60 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, one save and a 168:77 K:BB in 162 1/3 innings pitched.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Gordon Wittenmyer

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (oblique) is starting his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer's Gordon Wittenmyer. Stephenson worked out with Louisville over the weekend and is now ready to return to game action this week. The 28-year-old backstop hasn't played in a game since spring training in mid-March and opened the year on the 10-day injured list, so the Reds won't rush him back. In the meantime, veteran Jose Trevino will continue to operate as Cincy's primary catcher at the major-league level, with Austin Wynns backing him up. Although he has yet to make is 2025 debut, Stephenson is worth stashing in all fantasy leagues as one of the better power-hitting catchers in the league when he's healthy. He had a career-high 19 long balls and drove in 66 runs in 138 games in 2024.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Gordon Wittenmyer

Texas Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien is being dropped to fifth in the batting order for Tuesday's contest against the hosting Athletics and right-hander Osvaldo Bido. It's the first time that Semien has hit lower than third in the lineup since joining the Rangers back in 2022, and it comes with Semien entering Tuesday's tilt with a .141/.209/.192 slash line, only one home run, six RBI and five runs scored in his first 78 at-bats of the 2025 season. The good news, though, is that he has recorded a hit in four of his last five games. With the 34-year-old veteran moving down the batting order temporarily, utility man Josh Smith will start in center field and bat leadoff for a Rangers offense that is looking to shake things up. Fantasy managers can only hope the drop in the batting order can get Semien going. He has a hit in just two career at-bats against Bido.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: MLB.com

The Baltimore Orioles announced on Tuesday that they placed right-hander Cody Poteet (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to April 21) with right-shoulder inflammation and recalled right-hander Brandon Young from Triple-A Norfolk in a corresponding move. Poteet's right shoulder was apparently giving him problems in his first outing of the season on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, when he allowed five earned runs on six hits while walking two and striking out one in 2 2/3 innings of work out of the bullpen in a 24-2 shellacking. It's unclear how long the 30-year-old veteran reliever will be on the injured list, but fantasy managers can continue to ignore him whenever he gets back. Poteet has never thrown more than 30 2/3 innings at the big-league level since debuting with the Miami Marlins back in 2021.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Baltimore Orioles

Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis is expected to stick with the organization a little bit longer. Recently, general manager Mike Borgonzi said Levis is a quarterback in their room. He continued saying Levis is still developing and learning, but he has experienced some good moments. It seems increasingly likely that the Titans are going to select Cam Ward with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. That means, Levis is going to be stuck as a backup going forward with Ward presumably viewed as the new franchise quarterback. It's never a bad idea to have depth, but Levis is only 25 years old and could potentially still help another organization. For now, the Titans seem interested in keeping Levis, but that might change over time.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: John Glennon

The Double-A Chesapeake Baysox announced that Baltimore Orioles left-hander Trevor Rogers (knee) will make his first minor-league rehab appearance for them on Wednesday against the Double-A Altoona Curve. Rogers has been rehabbing from a subluxation of his right knee that he suffered way back in January, and he's now ready to pitch in games as he attempts to make his way back to the Orioles' starting rotation. However, the 27-year-old southpaw is expected to need a lengthy rehab assignment that could stretch well into May. Even when Rogers is deemed fully healthy, there's no guarantee he'll have a rotation spot waiting for him at the big-league level. The former first-rounder by the Miami Marlins in 2017 had a rough 7.11 ERA and 1.84 WHIP in four starts for the O's late last year and was eventually shipped to the minors.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerSource: Chesapeake Baysox

The Houston Texans are reportedly considering trading up for an offensive lineman during the upcoming NFL Draft. The Texans already traded star left tackle Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders. Thanks to that trade the Texans have three picks on Day 2. There isn't a ton of great Day 2 quality players on the offensive line, so the Texans might be forced to trade up. The Texans are going to have to wait and see how the draft shakes out, but it doesn't sound like they're afraid to make a move if needed. The organization has reportedly taken a strong look at Ohio State's Donovan Jackson. Also, Grey Zabel could be a possible fit as someone who could be a Day 1 starter.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Sports Illustrated
