Brayan Bello Goes Four Innings In Third Rehab Start
6 days agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Brayan Bello (shoulder) went four innings on Friday in his third minor-league rehab start for Triple-A Worcester and gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits while walking none and striking out five. Bello threw 45 of his 64 pitches for strikes and averaged 95.8 mph on his sinker. It was certainly an encouraging outing for the 25-year-old, but the Red Sox want to see him get up to at least five innings in the minors before activating him from the injured list to make his 2025 big-league debut in Boston. It sounds like Bello will need one more rehab start before he makes his season debut in the big leagues, barring a setback. When he's ready, Boston will have a rotation spot waiting for him, making Bello an option for fantasy managers looking for a streamer in deep-mixed leagues.Source: Milb.com
Pirates Calling Up Henry Davis
6 days agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up catcher/outfielder Henry Davis on Saturday, sources tell MLB.com's Alex Stumpf. Davis, the first overall pick back in 2021, had a strong spring and was hitting .286 with three doubles in eight games played at Triple-A Indianapolis to begin the season. There's no word on a corresponding move, but catcher Joey Bart (back) did leave Friday's series opener against the Cincinnati Reds with lower-back discomfort, so it's possible he will land on the injured list. If Davis does go on the IL this weekend, Davis and Endy Rodriguez will be options for Pittsburgh at catcher going forward. The 25-year-old Davis got off to a nice start offensively in the minors this year, but the Louisville product hasn't been able to put it all together yet at the major-league level in 99 games the last two years, slashing .191/.283/.307 with a .590 OPS, eight home runs, 29 RBI and 114 strikeouts in 377 plate appearances.Source: MLB.com - Alex Stumpf
Ketel Marte Begins Baseball Activities
6 days agoAlthough Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring) isn't expected to return from a left-hamstring strain for another few weeks, he has started doing baseball activities, according to Arizona Sports' Alex Weiner. Marte has started to take ground balls and is taking swings in the batting cage. Barring setbacks, the D-backs hope Marte can return in late April or early May, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The 2024 MVP finalist started this season hitting a robust .346 with three doubles and six runs scored in eight games prior to injuring his hamstring running out a double on April 4 against the Washington Nationals. Hamstring injuries have been a problem for the 31-year-old All-Star, as he was on the injured list twice with hammy issues in both of his legs in 2021. So far with Marte out, rookie Tim Tawa and Garrett Hampson have split time at the keystone in Arizona.Source: Arizona Sports - Alex Weiner
Patrick Bailey Out Against Yankees
6 days agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Patrick Bailey is taking the day off on Saturday at Yankee Stadium against the New York Yankees. Sam Huff will make the start behind the dish to catch right-hander Jordan Hicks and will hit eighth in the batting order versus Yankees right-hander Will Warren. Bailey went 1-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's series opener in the Bronx, but he's hitting just .206 (7-for-34) early in the season with no home runs, four doubles, a triple, four RBI, five runs scored, three walks and 10 strikeouts in 37 trips to the plate over his 13 games played. Bailey should be back in action for the series finale on Sunday at Yankee Stadium. Huff should be considered a long shot to return any DFS value for Saturday's slate. The 27-year-old catcher has gotten off to a 2-for-13 start at the plate for the Giants with no home runs and five strikeouts.Source: MLB.com
Alec Burleson Heads To Bench Against A Lefty
6 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Alec Burleson will take a seat on the bench to start Saturday's contest at Busch Stadium against the Philadelphia Phillies with a left-hander on the mound. Luken Baker will get the start at designated hitter and will bat second against Phillies lefty Cristopher Sanchez. Burleson is hitting .286 (12-for-42) early on with five RBI and five runs scored and is currently on a five-game hitting streak, but the Cards will give him a break on Saturday against a left-hander that has been stingy so far in 2025. Despite Burleson's hot early-season hitting, he has yet to clear the fences for his fantasy managers. Baker is also in search of his first long ball on Saturday and is hitting a strong .286 (4-for-14) with a double, two RBI and a run scored in his eight games played as a reserve. Baker has never faced Sanchez in his career.Source: MLB.com
Ryan Jeffers Getting The Day Off
6 days agoMinnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers will retreat to the bench on Saturday for a rest day at Target Field against the division-rival Detroit Tigers. Christian Vazquez will do the catching for right-hander Chris Paddack and will hit ninth against rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe. The Twins continue to split the catching duties right down the middle between Jeffers and Vazquez, making them both tough to rely on, even in deeper formats. The 27-year-old Jeffers has gone 7-for-32 (.219) with a double, four RBI, a run scored, two walks and eight strikeouts in nine games played. Vazquez has been even worse at the plate, going 3-for-21 with no homers and a run scored in nine games played. He has not faced Jobe in his career and should be avoided for DFS lineups.Source: MLB.com

Jacob Melton Hits Two Home Runs On Friday
6 days agoHouston Astros outfield prospect Jacob Melton went 2-for-4 with two home runs during their contest on Friday evening. Melton opened the Triple-A regular season on the injured list with a back injury but looks quite comfortable. Melton made his season debut on April 9 but did not tally a hit in that contest. The Oregon State product is considered the No. 3 prospect in the Houston system. Last summer, Melton split time between Double-A and Triple-A. Across 58 games with Double-A, the 24-year-old posted a solid .248/.306/.442 slash line with 10 home runs. During his first taste of Triple-A, Melton posted a .260/.314/.405 line across 47 contests. Fantasy managers should expect Melton to push for an early-season MLB debut if he continues to produce with the Sugar Land Space Cowboys.Source: MiLB.com
Chase Burns Strikes Out Seven On Friday
6 days agoCincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Burns struck out seven in his latest start with High-A on Friday evening. In this outing, Burns logged three 2/3 innings of one-run ball. He allowed just two hits and two walks. This was another impressive outing for Burns as he tossed four shutout innings in his first start of the season. In that outing, Burns struck out six batters while allowing just one free pass. The Reds selected Burns with the second overall pick in last year's MLB Draft. The Wake Forest product has already begun to showcase his elite upside. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his progression as he could find himself in Double-A in the coming weeks. If the 22-year-old continues this progression, he may push for a late-season MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
Charlee Soto Tosses Five Innings Of One-Hit Ball
6 days agoMinnesota Twins pitching prospect Charlee Soto tossed five shutout innings on Friday evening. Soto allowed just one hit and no walks. He struck out six batters. This was another impressive outing for Soto. During his first start of the campaign, Soto tossed four shutout frames and struck out five batters with just two hits allowed. After spending his entire debut season with Low-A, the 19-year-old has looked quite comfortable through his first taste of High-A action. Last summer, the Reborn Christian Academy product logged 74 innings with Low-A Fort Myers and held a high 5.23 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. During this stint, he tallied 87 punchouts with 33 walks. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his development, but it appears Soto is taking a significant step forward with High-A. He could push for a late-season taste of Double-A.Source: MiLB.com
Bo Davidson Goes Deep Twice On Friday
6 days agoSan Francisco Giants outfield prospect Bo Davidson went 3-for-5 with a double and two home runs during their contest on Friday evening. He struck out once. Through the early part of the High-A regular season, Davidson has tallied at least one hit in all but one contest. Through five games, he has held a .292/.320/.625 slash line with two doubles and two home runs. Last summer, the 22-year-old spent the majority of his campaign with Low-A San Jose. Across 53 contests, the No. 9-ranked prospect in the system held an impressive .328/.438/.608 slash line. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with High-A, but it appears Davidson is wasting little time showing his potential. He will likely remain with High-A through most of the summer.Source: MiLB.com
Cam Smith Hits First MLB Home Run
6 days agoHouston Astros third base/outfield prospect Cam Smith went 2-for-4 with a home run during their victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday evening. Smith would knock an RBI single in the sixth inning. Later in the eighth inning, Smith would launch his first MLB long ball, which also scored outfielder Jake Meyers. In addition to his production at the plate this evening, Smith also swiped a bag. After tallying just two hits over his first six games of the season with a 2:9 BB:K, the top prospect has begun to turn the corner. Smith has tallied at least one hit in each of his past three games and two hits in each of his previous two games. The former 14th overall pick from last year's MLB Draft was able to earn a spot on the MLB roster during spring training. Given his recent surge, fantasy managers should expect him to continue to see opportunities in the starting nine.Source: MLB.com
Andrew Painter Strikes Out Three In Season Debut
6 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter tossed 1 1/3 innings in his season debut with Low-A on Friday evening. In this brief outing, Painter allowed two hits and two runs. He served up one walk and struck out three. Painter was kept sidelined during spring training even though he was not dealing with an injury. Painter underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2023 and has not appeared in a professional game since the 2022 season. Painter was able to pitch briefly in the Arizona Fall League and performed quite well, holding a 2.30 ERA with 18 punchouts across 15 2/3 innings. The team has suggested the budding ace could play a role in the major-league bullpen during the second half of the campaign. He is a name to monitor, as the Phillies may move him up to High-A in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
Dustin Wolf Earns Victory On Friday
6 days agoCalgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf stopped 16 of the 18 shots he saw en route to defeating the Minnesota Wild on Friday evening. He was not tested often in this game but was able to pick up the victory. The Flames dominated the shot total in this contest. Wolf carried a shutout into the third frame, but the Wild were able to score twice, both during 5-on-5 play. Over his last five contests, Wolf has held a 3-0-2 record with a solid 2.36 GAA and a .910 save percentage. Over this stretch, he has allowed two goals or fewer in three contests. Through 51 games this season, Wolf has enjoyed a strong rookie campaign and has kept Calgary in the Wild Card race. He has posted an overall 27-16-8 with a 2.63 GAA and a .909 save percentage.Source: NHL.com
Evan Bouchard Tallies Two Points In Victory
6 days agoEdmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard tallied two points during their 4-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Friday evening. Bouchard did all of his damage in the opening frame. He first found the back of the net on the power play with a slap shot. Later in the period, Bouchard tacked on the secondary assist on Ty Emberson's first goal of the season. He logged five shots on goal during this game and added one blocked shot. This two-point performance extended his current point streak to three games. Over his previous nine contests, the 25-year-old has tallied 11 points, with four of them coming on the power play. Through 79 games this season, Bouchard has scored 14 goals and tallied 52 helpers. He remains a strong option in DFS given his role on the Edmonton power play.Source: NHL.com

In the opening frame, McDavid would add two primary helpers, with one of them coming on the power play. Later in the third, he would tally his third helper of the game and second on the power play. He would conclude his evening by tacking on the secondary assist on Connor Brown's empty-netter. Since returning from his lower-body injury, McDavid has tallied seven points (all helpers) over his last two games. Over his last 15 contests, McDavid has found the back of the net just four times but has tallied an impressive 22 helpers. Over his past five contests, Pinto has found the back of the net four times and added one helper. However, before this recent surge, Pinto tallied just two points (two helpers) over his last nine games. Through 67 games this season, the 24-year-old has scored 20 goals and tallied 15 assists. He is just one point away from setting a new career-high. He will remain in a middle-six role in the Ottawa offense.Source: NHL.com
Josh Jung Launches First Home Run Of The Season
6 days agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Jung blasted a two-run shot off Trent Thornton in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game 3-3. It was his first home run of the season. He also added an RBI single to rack up three RBI in Friday's loss. The 27-year-old was recently activated from the injured list on Tuesday after missing some time with neck spasms. Jung has been blistering hot, collecting a hit in all five games he's played this season. Overall, Jung is slashing .474/.474/.842 with a home run, six RBI, three runs, and a stolen base. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Jung while he's swinging a hot bat, and he looks to continue his torrid stretch against the Mariners on Saturday.Source: MLB

Yamamoto will look to continue his scoreless-inning streak and remains a must-start in his next start on Thursday against the Texas Rangers in Arlington.Source: MLB
Nick Pivetta Posts 10 Strikeouts In Padres Win
6 days agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Nick Pivetta picked up 10 punchouts in a masterful performance on Friday night against the Rockies. He went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, all to Kyle Farmer. He got six runs of support in the fifth inning and retired the side in order in the seventh inning before handing a 7-0 lead to the bullpen to finish out. The Rockies lead the MLB with a 29.4% strikeout rate and continue to be a great matchup to target for DFS or streaming starting pitchers. Pivetta improved to 2-1 in his three starts this season, with 10 hits against and 18 strikeouts in 17 innings. He's scheduled for another home start in his next outing, but it will be in a tougher matchup against the visiting Cubs next Wednesday afternoon.Source: ESPN.com
CJ Abrams Aggravates Hip Flexor On Friday

The 24-year-old went 0-for-1 with a walk, stolen base, and a strikeout before exiting Friday's game. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday and is considered day-to-day for now. Abrams is slashing .244/.289/.585 with four home runs, seven RBI, and four stolen bases over 46 plate appearances in 2025. Amed Rosario replaced Abrams on Friday and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any games. Rosario is on the deep-league radar for fantasy managers searching for middle infield help after hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a home run and five RBI over seven games.Source: Bobby Blanco
Danny Jansen Carries Rays Past Braves On Friday
6 days agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Danny Jansen had a huge game on Friday night to help the Rays beat the Braves in Tampa. Jansen went 3-for-4 with his first home run of the season and added a double and four RBI in the Rays' 6-3 victory. Jansen has played nine games for the Rays this season and had gone just 1-for-26 (.038) before breaking through as a surprising hero on Friday night. He and Ben Rortvedt will continue to share time behind the plate, but so far Jansen has gotten most of the work, despite his offensive struggles. After such a slow start, Jansen isn't a fantasy option at this point, but it's worth watching to see if this big game is the start of something more.Source: ESPN.com
James Wood Helps Nationals Rally Past Marlins
6 days agoWashington Nationals outfielder James Wood helped his team overcome an early 4-0 deficit to win Friday night's matchup in Miami, 7-4. Wood went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the ninth inning off Marlins relief pitcher Luarbert Arias. His other hit was a double in the first inning, but he was stranded at second base. Wood's home run was already his fifth of the year and his fourth in his last four games. He's slashing .271/.364/.646 with a .431 wOBA and a 63.3% hard-hit rate, according to Statcast. His hard-hit rate is in the 97th percentile, and his barrel rate in the 98th percentile, so the 22-year-old is living up to the hype as one of the best young hitters in baseball so far this season. He's a great rising star to build your fantasy baseball team around going forwardSource: ESPN
Parker Meadows Still Not Throwing, Resumes Hitting Program
6 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is still not throwing but resumed his hitting program on Friday. Meadows continues to work his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm. The 25-year-old was placed on the 60-day injured list in March and is not expected to return to action until May at the earliest. Meadows was shut down from throwing for four weeks in mid-March, and if the timeline stays intact, he could be cleared to throw by next weekend. The former second-round pick slashed .244/.310/.433 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 39 runs, and nine stolen bases over 82 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Meadows on the injured list, as he's trending in the right direction and will return sometime in May.Source: Chris McCosky
Davis Martin Dominates Red Sox In Chicago
6 days agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin bounced back from a rough outing in his last start against the Tigers and held the Red Sox to just one run in six innings to get his first win of the season. In his Opening Day start, Martin was excellent in a no-decision against the Guardians, allowing just two unearned runs, but he was thumped for seven runs on nine hits in five innings in his second start of the season. On Friday, though, he was sharp again, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six and issuing just one walk. He got plenty of run support from the White Sox lineup against Sean Newcomb, and the team cruised to an 11-1 victory to snap an eight-game skid. Martin's next start is also scheduled to come at home at the end of this homestand next Thursday afternoon against the visiting Athletics.Source: ESPN.com
Jung Hoo Lee Smashes Huge Homer For The Giants
6 days agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee hit his first home run of the season in Friday's rain-shortened win over the Yankees. He has three stolen bases and 13 runs scored with nine extra-base hits compared to seven singles. He had a 41% hard-hit rate last year in his first season with the Giants and has increased that to a 47.5% hard-hit rate so far this season. He's off to a great start to the season as a key contributor to the Giants' 10-3 start to the season.Source: ESPN.com
Marcus Stroman Undergoes X-Rays On Left Knee
6 days agoNew York Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman (knee) went for X-rays on his left knee after being pulled in the first inning of Friday's 9-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Stroman was sent for testing on his left knee and said his knee was "bugging" him. This could explain Stroman's poor performance on Friday. The 33-year-old allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over 2/3 of an inning in Friday's loss. Stroman owns an 11.57 ERA, 2.04 WHIP, and a 7:7 K:BB over his first three starts. He is considered day-to-day for now, and his availability won't be known until the X-ray results are available. Fantasy managers can move on from Stroman in most leagues.Source: Bryan Hoch

6 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Andre Pallante allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings on Friday night against the Phillies. He retired the last eight men he faced before handing the ball to the bullpen to close out the Cardinals' big home win over the visiting Phils. Pallante is now 2-0 in his three starts, allowing four runs on 10 hits across 16 1/3 innings with 13 strikeouts. He'll take on the Astros in another tough matchup in his next scheduled start.Source: ESPN.com
