8 months agoThe Green Bay Packers signed free-agent cornerback Gemon Green to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. Green was originally was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants out of Michigan in May of 2023. However, he was released after training camp after being on the team's practice squad briefly. The 24-year-old had 71 tackles (49 solo), an interception and 15 passes defended in his college career with the Wolverines in 42 games (24 starts). Green was an All-Big Ten honorable mention from coaches and media in 2022. If he makes the Packers' roster at all in 2024 and plays in a game during the regular season, it will be his NFL debut.Source: Packers.com
8 months agoThe Green Bay Packers feel that they have a better grasp of where wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) stands after he underwent a body scan at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this offseason with the hope of preventing future flare-ups. Watson has battled hamstring injuries in both of his two seasons in the NFL, with the 6-foot-4, 208-pounder missing eight games in 2023, playing just 446 offensive snaps. It hasn't just been hamstring injuries for the 24-year-old, and he's played in only 23 games in his first two seasons to quickly develop an injury-prone label. But when healthy, he's caught 69 of 119 targets for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding two rushing scores. There's intriguing upside given the nature of Green Bay's improving offense under quarterback Jordan Love, but Watson's durability makes him a risk/reward fantasy selection heading into his third year.Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz
8 months agoThe Green Bay Packers signed free-agent kicker Greg Joseph to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to his agent, Brett Tessler. Joseph kicked for the division-rival Minnesota Vikings the last three seasons and holds the NFL record for game-winning kicks in a season (five) and the Vikings record for longest field goal (61 yards). The 29-year-old went 83-for-101 on his field goals and 112-for-124 on extra points during his time in Minnesota. In addition to Joseph, the Packers have last year's sixth-rounder, Anders Carlson, on their roster, but Carlson struggled mightily in his rookie season and could now be on his way out. Joseph finished the 2023 season as the No. 24 kicker in terms of overall fantasy points and should be on the streaming radar in 2024 with Green Bay.Source: Brett Tessler

The 29-year-old has been in the NFL since 2017, spending time with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans before joining the Packers in 2022. He is primarily utilized as a depth linebacker and core special teamer. Wilson has 108 games of NFL experience on his resume and has totaled 327 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, and nine passes defended in his career.Source: PackersWire
8 months agoThe Green Bay Packers re-signed cornerback Robert Rochell to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. In his first year with Green Bay in 2023, Rochell played in just nine games (zero starts) and recorded four solo tackles. He also suited up for both of the team's playoff games. The 25-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 out of Central Arkansas. He has started only five of the 37 games he's played in so far in three NFL seasons (two with the Rams), totaling 23 tackles (20 solo), an interception and two fumble recoveries. Rochell will return to the Packers in 2024 to provide both secondary and special teams depth.Source: Packers.com
8 months agoThe Green Bay Packers officially re-signed running back AJ Dillon on Friday. Dillon was originally selected by the Packers in the second round (62nd overall) in 2020 out of Boston College. He has played in 60 games (11 starts) for the team during the regular season and has compiled 2,428 yards on 597 carries (4.1 yards per carry) with 16 touchdowns while recording 86 receptions for 763 yards (8.9 yards per catch) with two touchdowns. The 25-year-old had a career-low 3.4 yards per carry in 15 regular-season games (six starts) in Green Bay in 2023 and failed to take advantage of Aaron Jones missing some time with injuries. Dillon missed the final three games due to a neck stinger, but he should be fully healthy for the start of the 2024 season this fall, where he'll be back as the No. 2 RB behind newcomer Josh Jacobs.Source: Packers.com
8 months agoFree-agent running back AJ Dillon is expected to re-sign with the Green Bay Packers on an undisclosed deal, pending a physical, according to sources. Dillon will return to the organization that selected him with their second-round pick in 2020 out of Boston College. The 25-year-old had more of an opportunity to pick up extra touches in Green Bay's backfield with Aaron Jones missing some time with injury, but he failed to take advantage of it and finished with a career-low 3.4 yards per carry on 178 rushing attempts. Dillon had a disappointing 613 rushing yards and only two touchdowns in 15 regular-season games (six starts). Jones is now in Minnesota, but Dillon will return to the Packers to play second fiddle to Josh Jacobs now.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
9 months agoThe Green Bay Packers are re-signing cornerback/return specialist Keisean Nixon to a three-year, $18 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Nixon has earned first-team All-Pro honors for his work as a kick returner. In 2023, Nixon led the NFL in kick return yards (782) and returns of at least 20 yards (26). He also had the most productive season of his career on defense in 2023, racking up 80 tackles, half a sack, and one interception.Source: Ian Rapoport
9 months agoGreen Bay Packers veteran left tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) announced on his social media that he was released by the team on Monday. Bakhtiari was given a failed-physical designation after he played in just one game in 2023 due to a lingering knee injury. The 32-year-old three-time Pro Bowler was originally a fourth-round pick by the Packers in 2013 out of Colorado and had spent all 11 of his NFL seasons with the team. Since tearing his ACL in 2020, he has played in just 13 games with the Packers, so it was time for Green Bay to move on. It's unclear how healthy Bakhtiari actually is, but if he's ready by this fall and wants to continue his playing career, the favorites to sign him will be the New York Jets. Bakhtiari was teammates with Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.Source: David Bakhtiari

9 months agoFree-agent safety Xavier McKinney is signing a four-year, $68 million deal with the Green Bay Packers, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. McKinney spent four seasons with the New York Giants after being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. New York reportedly wanted to bring him back, but the two sides could not agree on terms. The 24-year-old has racked up 279 tackles, 1.5 sacks, nine interceptions, and 29 passes defended in his first 49 games. He will replace Darnell Savage in Green Bay, who is expected to sign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.Source: Adam Schefter - ESPN
9 months agoThe Green Bay Packers are releasing running back Aaron Jones after signing free agent running back Josh Jacobs to a contract on Monday. Jones had $12 million in non-guaranteed compensation for 2024, but with the Packers adding Jacobs to the roster, Green Bay decided to move on from the veteran back. Jones rushed for 656 yards and two touchdowns while catching 30 passes for 233 yards and a score over 11 games in 2023. The 29-year-old finished the season and playoffs strong, logging five consecutive 100-yard games and three touchdowns during that five-game span. After seven seasons with the Packers, Jones will be a free agent and look to latch onto a team in search of a starting back. Jones should be a free agent for only a short time, and after a strong finish last season, the former Packer should be a solid fantasy option in 2024, regardless of where he lands.Source: Adam Schefter of ESPN
9 months agoFree-agent running back Josh Jacobs is expected to sign with the Green Bay Packers for four years and $48 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The 26-year-old two-time Pro Bowler played on the franchise tag for the Las Vegas Raiders last season, posting career lows in rushing yards (805) and rushing touchdowns (six). However, he has three seasons of at least 1,000 rushing yards and led the league in 2022 with 1,653 rushing yards. The former first-round pick will now join quarterback Jordan Love's ascending offense, meaning AJ Dillon is likely headed elsewhere. The Packers still have Aaron Jones on the roster, so it'll be interesting to see how the backfield shapes out. UPDATE: The Packers are releasing Aaron Jones, meaning Jacobs is likely to have a workhorse role in Green Bay's offense.Source: Ian Rapoport
9 months agoGreen Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones is reportedly discussing a pay cut with the organization. Jones is heading into the final year of his four-year deal with the team. He's set to make a base salary of $11.1 million with a cap hit of $17.5 million in 2024. Jones missed six games last season, but still put together solid numbers when he was healthy. The 29-year-old finished with 656 rushing yards on 142 attempts with two touchdowns in 11 games. Fellow back AJ Dillon is set to become a free agent this offseason. That being said, Jones appears to be in line to be the workhorse back next season.Source: Pro Football Talk
