Josh Jung Launches First Home Run Of The Season
5 days agoTexas Rangers third baseman Josh Jung went 2-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners. Jung blasted a two-run shot off Trent Thornton in the top of the sixth inning to tie the game 3-3. It was his first home run of the season. He also added an RBI single to rack up three RBI in Friday's loss. The 27-year-old was recently activated from the injured list on Tuesday after missing some time with neck spasms. Jung has been blistering hot, collecting a hit in all five games he's played this season. Overall, Jung is slashing .474/.474/.842 with a home run, six RBI, three runs, and a stolen base. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Jung while he's swinging a hot bat, and he looks to continue his torrid stretch against the Mariners on Saturday.Source: MLB
Yoshinobu Yamamoto Shuts Down Cubs In Friday's Win
5 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (2-1) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out nine across six scoreless innings in Friday's 3-0 win over the Chicago Cubs. He picked up his second win of the season. Yamamoto threw 103 pitches, landing 64 for strikes. The 26-year-old hasn't allowed an earned run over his last 12 innings while posting a 14:4 K:BB in his previous two starts. He owns a 1.23 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and a 28:7 K:BB across 22 frames in 2025. Yamamoto will look to continue his scoreless-inning streak and remains a must-start in his next start on Thursday against the Texas Rangers in Arlington.Source: MLB
Nick Pivetta Posts 10 Strikeouts In Padres Win
5 days agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Nick Pivetta picked up 10 punchouts in a masterful performance on Friday night against the Rockies. He went seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits, all to Kyle Farmer. He got six runs of support in the fifth inning and retired the side in order in the seventh inning before handing a 7-0 lead to the bullpen to finish out. The Rockies lead the MLB with a 29.4% strikeout rate and continue to be a great matchup to target for DFS or streaming starting pitchers. Pivetta improved to 2-1 in his three starts this season, with 10 hits against and 18 strikeouts in 17 innings. He's scheduled for another home start in his next outing, but it will be in a tougher matchup against the visiting Cubs next Wednesday afternoon.Source: ESPN.com
CJ Abrams Aggravates Hip Flexor On Friday
5 days agoWashington Nationals CJ Abrams (hip) aggravated his hip flexor during Friday's 7-4 win over the Miami Marlins. Abrams injured his hip while attempting to steal second base and fielding a grounder in the third inning. The 24-year-old went 0-for-1 with a walk, stolen base, and a strikeout before exiting Friday's game. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday and is considered day-to-day for now. Abrams is slashing .244/.289/.585 with four home runs, seven RBI, and four stolen bases over 46 plate appearances in 2025. Amed Rosario replaced Abrams on Friday and would see an uptick in at-bats if he were to miss any games. Rosario is on the deep-league radar for fantasy managers searching for middle infield help after hitting .318 (7-for-22) with a home run and five RBI over seven games.Source: Bobby Blanco
Danny Jansen Carries Rays Past Braves On Friday
5 days agoTampa Bay Rays catcher Danny Jansen had a huge game on Friday night to help the Rays beat the Braves in Tampa. Jansen went 3-for-4 with his first home run of the season and added a double and four RBI in the Rays' 6-3 victory. Jansen has played nine games for the Rays this season and had gone just 1-for-26 (.038) before breaking through as a surprising hero on Friday night. He and Ben Rortvedt will continue to share time behind the plate, but so far Jansen has gotten most of the work, despite his offensive struggles. After such a slow start, Jansen isn't a fantasy option at this point, but it's worth watching to see if this big game is the start of something more.Source: ESPN.com
James Wood Helps Nationals Rally Past Marlins
5 days agoWashington Nationals outfielder James Wood helped his team overcome an early 4-0 deficit to win Friday night's matchup in Miami, 7-4. Wood went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in the ninth inning off Marlins relief pitcher Luarbert Arias. His other hit was a double in the first inning, but he was stranded at second base. Wood's home run was already his fifth of the year and his fourth in his last four games. He's slashing .271/.364/.646 with a .431 wOBA and a 63.3% hard-hit rate, according to Statcast. His hard-hit rate is in the 97th percentile, and his barrel rate in the 98th percentile, so the 22-year-old is living up to the hype as one of the best young hitters in baseball so far this season. He's a great rising star to build your fantasy baseball team around going forwardSource: ESPN
Parker Meadows Still Not Throwing, Resumes Hitting Program
5 days agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Parker Meadows (arm) is still not throwing but resumed his hitting program on Friday. Meadows continues to work his way back from a nerve issue in his right arm. The 25-year-old was placed on the 60-day injured list in March and is not expected to return to action until May at the earliest. Meadows was shut down from throwing for four weeks in mid-March, and if the timeline stays intact, he could be cleared to throw by next weekend. The former second-round pick slashed .244/.310/.433 with nine home runs, 28 RBI, 39 runs, and nine stolen bases over 82 games in 2024. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Meadows on the injured list, as he's trending in the right direction and will return sometime in May.Source: Chris McCosky
Davis Martin Dominates Red Sox In Chicago
5 days agoChicago White Sox starting pitcher Davis Martin bounced back from a rough outing in his last start against the Tigers and held the Red Sox to just one run in six innings to get his first win of the season. In his Opening Day start, Martin was excellent in a no-decision against the Guardians, allowing just two unearned runs, but he was thumped for seven runs on nine hits in five innings in his second start of the season. On Friday, though, he was sharp again, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six and issuing just one walk. He got plenty of run support from the White Sox lineup against Sean Newcomb, and the team cruised to an 11-1 victory to snap an eight-game skid. Martin's next start is also scheduled to come at home at the end of this homestand next Thursday afternoon against the visiting Athletics.Source: ESPN.com
Jung Hoo Lee Smashes Huge Homer For The Giants
5 days agoSan Francisco Giants outfielder Jung Hoo Lee hit his first home run of the season in Friday's rain-shortened win over the Yankees. His three-run homer fueled the Giants' five-run first inning against Marcus Stromen and jump-started their offense in the 9-1 road win. Lee went 2-for-2 with that home run, two walks, two runs scored, and three RBI. He raised his batting average to .340 in his 12 games this season with a .432 wOBA. He has three stolen bases and 13 runs scored with nine extra-base hits compared to seven singles. He had a 41% hard-hit rate last year in his first season with the Giants and has increased that to a 47.5% hard-hit rate so far this season. He's off to a great start to the season as a key contributor to the Giants' 10-3 start to the season.Source: ESPN.com
Marcus Stroman Undergoes X-Rays On Left Knee
5 days agoNew York Yankees right-hander Marcus Stroman (knee) went for X-rays on his left knee after being pulled in the first inning of Friday's 9-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants. According to Yankees manager Aaron Boone, Stroman was sent for testing on his left knee and said his knee was "bugging" him. This could explain Stroman's poor performance on Friday. The 33-year-old allowed five earned runs on four hits and three walks while striking out one over 2/3 of an inning in Friday's loss. Stroman owns an 11.57 ERA, 2.04 WHIP, and a 7:7 K:BB over his first three starts. He is considered day-to-day for now, and his availability won't be known until the X-ray results are available. Fantasy managers can move on from Stroman in most leagues.Source: Bryan Hoch
Andre Pallante Shuts Out Phillies In Seven Strong Innings
5 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Andre Pallante allowed just two hits in seven shutout innings on Friday night against the Phillies. He had four strikeouts and two walks to claim his second win of the season. He was locked in a pitcher's duel with Aaron Nola until the Cards broke through for two runs in the fifth inning. He retired the last eight men he faced before handing the ball to the bullpen to close out the Cardinals' big home win over the visiting Phils. Pallante is now 2-0 in his three starts, allowing four runs on 10 hits across 16 1/3 innings with 13 strikeouts. He'll take on the Astros in another tough matchup in his next scheduled start.Source: ESPN.com
Yainer Diaz Snaps Out Of Slump With A Huge Game
5 days agoHouston Astros catcher Yainer Diaz was just 2-for-33 on the season coming into Friday's game against the Angels, but he broke through in a big way, going 3-for-5 with a double, his first home run of the season, and five RBI. His home run was a grand slam in the fifth inning off of relief pitcher Garrett McDaniels, and he added his RBI double in the sixth to help power the Astros to a 14-3 victory. Diaz is still hitting just .132 over his first 10 games of the season with a .199 wOBA, but hopefully, this is a sign that he's ready to snap out of his slump and go on a roll. Last year, he had 16 homers and a .329 wOBA with 84 RBI in 148 games, and his fantasy managers will hope this big game gets him back on track.Source: ESPN.com
Masyn Winn Expected To Miss A Few Games
5 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (back) won't go on the injured list but is expected to miss a few games due to back spasms. Winn was removed from Friday's game early against the Philadelphia Phillies in the second inning and did not return. The 23-year-old has been dealing with a back issue for a few weeks and will need some time off to recover. Winn is off to a slow start, slashing .222/.314/.289 with a home run, three RBI, and eight runs over 13 games. He is considered day-to-day. Thomas Saggese shifted from second base to shortstop, while Yohel Pozo replaced him in Friday's win over the Phillies and went 2-for-4 with two runs and two strikeouts. Saggese should see an uptick in playing time with Winn sidelined and is hitting .467 (7-for-15) with a home run over five games. The 23-year-old is a speculative add in deep leagues while swinging a hot bat for fantasy managers searching for middle infield help.Source: Katie Woo
Clayton Kershaw To Begin Rehab Assignment On Wednesday
5 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw (toe) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Wednesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. The veteran southpaw isn't eligible to be activated from the injured list until the middle of May. That being said, Kershaw is likely going to make a handful of starts with Triple-A Oklahoma City. When healthy, Kershaw is a stud, but actually keeping him on the mound has been a problem lately. He figures to be a regular in the starting rotation once he's cleared to play. That being said, Kershaw could be a good stash for fantasy managers who have an open IL spot at the moment.Source: Mike DiGiovanna
Tobias Myers To Make Rehab Start On Sunday
5 days agoMilwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Tobias Myers (oblique) will make his second rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Sunday. Myers is currently working his way back from an oblique strain, but he appears to be progressing well. He threw 3 1/3 scoreless innings during his first rehab outing. The expectation is that Myers will probably need one more rehab start after Sunday's game. That means, Myers should be back in the Brewers rotation by the end of April or early May. Until then, Quinn Priester figures to remain in the starting rotation.Source: Sophia Minnaert
