3 weeks agoWashington Capitals right wing Tom Wilson (face) exited Tuesday's contest early after being struck in the face by a puck. Wilson has a "huge gash on his upper lip" and will likely need "repairs." Before exiting the game, Wilson logged just over 15 minutes of ice time and tallied two helpers. He logged one blocked shot and one shot on goal. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next game on Thursday evening against the Los Angeles Kings. Over his last five contests, Wilson has tallied at least one point in each game. During this span, he has scored three goals and added six helpers. Through 64 total games, Wilson has tallied 54 points with 16 of them coming on the power-play. If Wilson were to miss time, Aliaksei Protas would likely move up to the top line.Source: Tom Gulitti
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen will start Tuesday's matchup against the Montreal Canadiens. The Canucks are beginning a back-to-back and will roll with Lankinen for the first leg. The 29-year-old will be making his 39th start of the season. He carries a record of 22-11-7 and has tallied four shutouts. Lankinen's goals-against average is 2.53, and he has a save percentage of .905. The season has been positive for Lankinen; however, he struggled in his last appearance against the Canadiens, allowing five goals on 24 shots in a 5-4 overtime loss on Jan. 6.Source: Renaud Lavoie
3 weeks agoDallas Stars center Roope Hintz (face) will be sidelined for at least one week. He sustained a facial injury on Saturday against the Edmonton Oilers when a puck struck him in the second period. Hintz is once again sitting among Dallas' scoring leaders in 2024-25, boasting 25 goals and 52 points in 59 appearances. Wyatt Johnston, who has notched 60 points (24 goals, 36 assists) in 64 games, took over the first-line center duties in Sunday's matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. He looks set to fill the role for at least two more games.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will be back in the lineup on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. He has missed a pair of games due to a lower-body injury. It looks like Anaheim plans to use Gibson as a backup on Tuesday, as Lukas Dostal was in the starter's crease during the morning skate. Gibson is sporting a 9-10-2 record for the season with a 2.82 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. If he doesn't return to action on Tuesday, there's a strong chance we will see Gibson on Wednesday as the Ducks wrap up a back-to-back against the Utah Hockey Club.Source: Derek Lee
3 weeks agoLos Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty is expected to remain in the lineup on Tuesday against the New York Islanders. The star rearguard missed Tuesday's morning skate. However, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports that Doughty will play against the Islanders. The 35-year-old is expected to take more maintenance days moving forward. Doughty recently mentioned that he will need to manage a lower-body injury for the rest of the season. The Kings began the campaign without Doughty and have had him in the lineup for only 14 games. He has recorded six points (one goal, five assists), 21 shots, 26 blocks, and 13 hits while averaging 25:40 of ice time.Source: Zach Dooley
3 weeks agoVancouver Canucks defenseman Quinn Hughes (undisclosed) will remain sidelined on Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens, marking his fourth consecutive absence. However, he is making progress, and Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told reporters on Monday that Hughes is getting closer to a return. "He's progressing, and he could surprise us any time when he's ready to go," Tocchet said. "I'm not saying he's going to be in the lineup tomorrow. It's coming; I just don't know when." The Canucks will complete a back-to-back on Wednesday against the Calgary Flames. Filip Hronek and Tyler Myers have received increased power-play time during Hughes' absence. Hronek has been more productive of the two, recording four assists over the past three games.Source: Sportsnet
3 weeks agoMontreal Canadiens winger Patrik Laine (illness) will not play in Tuesday's matchup against the Vancouver Canucks. He is battling an illness and will be sidelined for a second consecutive contest. After an impressive start in Montreal, Laine has struggled to make an impact in recent weeks. He has 14 goals and 24 points in 34 games for the season. Joel Armia stepped into Laine's spot on the second line Saturday against the Calgary Flames. He has been held off the score sheet nine times in his past 10 appearances, making Armia an unreliable fantasy option. The 31-year-old has notched 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 63 games across this season.Source: Eric Engels
3 weeks agoCarolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov (undisclosed) will not play on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Russian forward suffered an undisclosed injury in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Winnipeg Jets and is still undergoing evaluation. Carolina loses a two-way force with Andrei Svechnikov sidelined. He ranks second on the team with 131 hits and has tallied 43 points (18 goals, 25 assists) in 63 outings. On Tuesday, Taylor Hall and Jackson Blake are set to move up in the lineup after practicing with Sebastian Aho on the first line Monday.Source: Ryan Henkel
3 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins goaltender Tristan Jarry will get the starting nod for the second-straight contest on Tuesday evening to face the Vegas Golden Knights. After spending the past two months in the AHL, Jarry bounced-back in his first outing since January as he stopped 20 of the 30 shots he saw en route to defeating the Minnesota Wild. Jarry will now cover the starter's crease against the Golden Knights. Before his strong showing on Sunday, Jarry held a 0-3-2 record over his last five NHL contests with a 2.85 GAA and a .881 save percentage. Through 23 NHL contests this season, the 29-year-old has posted a 9-8-4 record with a disappointing 3.20 GAA and a .888 save percentage. Despite his excellent outing, he is best to fade in DFS this evening facing a potent Vegas offense and playing behind a weak Pittsburgh defense.Source: Josh Getzoff
3 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins center Thomas Novak (lower body) will not suit up on Tuesday to face the Vegas Golden Knights. Novak is day-to-day with an injury he sustained during their victory over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday evening. Novak was traded to the Penguins shortly before the trade deadline in a deal that sent Michael Bunting to Nashville. During his brief stint in Pittsburgh so far, Novak has seen time on the second offensive line alongside Evgeni Malkin and Philip Tomasino. With Novak set to miss Tuesday's contest, fantasy managers should expect Danton Heinen to re-enter the starting lineup. Heinen to Connor Dewar could see time in Novak's spot on the second offensive line. Heinen will likely also see an increased role in the power-play and could be worth streaming in deeper formats with an uptick in ice time. Novak will look to return on Thursday evening against the St. Louis Blues.Source: Pittsburgh Penguins
3 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning defenseman Victor Hedman (lower body) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's contest against the Carolina Hurricanes. Hedman was able to participate during Tuesday's morning skate, which is a good sign he should be cleared to return to action. The 34-year-old sustained this injury during Thursday's contest. He was initially in line to return on Saturday but was a late scratch. If Hedman were to remain sidelined, Nick Perbix would remain in the starting lineup. Before Thursday's contest, Hedman tallied eight points (four goals) across his last seven contests. During this span, Hedman logged 18 blocked shots with a +6 rating. Through 60 games, the 34-year-old has tallied 50 points with 30 hits and 104 blocked shots. If he were to return, he would be a solid option in DFS formats as he sees top minutes on the Tampa blue line. Source: Gabby Shirley
3 weeks agoFlorida Panthers left wing Jonah Gadjovich (personal) will not play on Tuesday when the Panthers travel to Boston to face the Bruins. Gadjovich was sidelined during their previous game and will now miss his second straight. As a result, Thomas Nosek will remain in the starting lineup and play on the fourth offensive line. Over his previous seven contests, Gadjovich has tallied just one point (a goal) with 12 shots on goal, 11 hits, four blocked shots, and 17 penalty minutes. Through 28 games this season, the 26-year-old has tallied just three points (all goals) while logging 78 hits and 31 penalty minutes. When he returns to the lineup, he will only carry value in deeper formats that reward penalty minutes and hits.Source: Jameson Olive
3 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues defenseman Cam Fowler (personal) returned to practice on Tuesday. Fowler was unable to play in their previous contest on Saturday against the Los Angeles Kings due to the birth of his child. However, it appears Fowler is in line to return to the starting lineup on Thursday evening to face the Pittsburgh Penguins. Over his previous six contests, Fowler has found the back of the net once and added five helpers. During this span he has held a +4 rating while tallying nine shots on goal with six blocked shots. Since being traded to the Blues from the Anaheim Ducks in December, Fowler has enjoyed an offensive surge as he has tallied 21 points (seven goals) across 32 games. Over his first 19 games with the Ducks, Fowler tallied just four points (all helpers). He should return to his role on the top pairing alongside Nick Leddy.Source: Lou Korac
3 weeks agoBuffalo Sabres right wing JJ Peterka (lower body) is dealing with an injury and could miss their next contest on Wednesday evening against the Detroit Red Wings. Peterka was unable to participate during Tuesday's practice due to this injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Wednesday's game. Peterka is currently riding a two-game scoreless streak but enjoyed an offensive surge prior to this slump. Before this two-game stretch, he was riding a seven-game point streak where he found the back of the net four times and added six helpers. During this span he logged 18 shots on goal with 16 penalty minutes and a +4 rating. Through 61 total games, the 23-year-old has tallied 51 points (19 goals) with 12 of his points coming on the power-play. If he were to sit out, Zach Benson would move up to the top-six.Source: Heather Engel
3 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs right wing William Nylander extended his point streak to six games on Monday evening during their shootout victory over the Utah Hockey Club. Nylander would open the scoring in the first period on the power-play to get on the scoresheet. Later in the game he logged an additional shot on goal and tallied a blocked shot. Through this six-game point streak, Nylander has scored three goals and added five helpers. Through 64 total games, the 28-year-old has scored 36 goals while tallying 30 helpers. His 36 goals put him second-most in the league, only behind Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl (40). Nylander has scored 25 of his 66 points on the power-play. He will look to push his point streak to seven games when he faces the Florida Panthers on Thursday evening.Source: NHL.com
