Adam Mazur Strikes Out Five In Latest Outing
5 days agoMiami Marlins pitching prospect Adam Mazur continued his strong start to the campaign on Sunday afternoon. In this outing, Mazur logged four 1/3 shutout innings. He struck out five batters and allowed just two hits. Since allowing two runs in his first start of the season, Mazur has logged nine 1/3 shutout frames. During these two starts, he has struck out 10 batters and allowed just five hits and one walk. This is a great sign for Mazur as he struggled to find much success at the Triple-A level last summer. Across 61 innings split between El Paso and Jacksonville, Mazur held a high 6.20 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. During this stint, he struck out just 60 batters. He also received a brief taste of the majors last season, but posted a 7.49 ERA. He should be in the mix to join the Miami rotation later this season.Source: MiLB.com
Nolan McLean Sharp In Second Start
5 days agoNew York Mets pitching prospect Nolan McLean continued to perform well during his second start of the campaign. On Sunday afternoon, McLean tossed five innings of one-run ball against Double-A Hartford. In this outing, McLean struck out six batters and allowed three walks and four hits. In his first start of the regular season on April 6, McLean tossed four shutout frames and struck out an impressive eight batters. The 23-year-old right-hander is considered the No. 5-ranked prospect in the Mets system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the Oklahoma State product spent most of his time with Double-A but held a modest 4.19 ERA. However, it appears McLean is beginning to turn the corner. If he continues to perform well, he should be in the mix for a mid-season Triple-A debut.Source: MiLB.com
Jake Burger Doubles In Loss To Mariners
5 days agoTexas Rangers third baseman Jake Burger went 1-for-3 with a double and two strikeouts in Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Seattle Mariners. It's the 29-year-old's second double of the season and fourth extra-base-hit in total (two home runs). Burger is off to a sluggish start at the dish in 2025, carrying a .151/.182/.302 slash line with a 1/15 K:BB ratio over his first 15 games. Unfortunately, even the under-the-hood numbers are poor, as the former first-round pick's average exit velocity (89.1) and hard-hit rate (42.1%) are sitting at career-low figures. Furthermore, he's still striking out 27.3% of the time, and his barrel rate has dipped for the second straight season. However, Burger has a hit in four consecutive outings, so maybe his bat is finally waking up.Source: ESPN
Kendall George Hits Two Long Balls, Swipes A Bag
5 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers outfield prospect Kendall George hit two home runs and swiped a bag during Sunday's contest against High-A Lansing. In this game, George would tally three RBI, score three runs, and hold a 2:1 BB:K. These were George's first long balls of the regular season. Before Sunday, George held an underwhelming .120/.273/.120 slash line through the first seven games of the regular season. During this slow start, George did not tally an extra-base hit. Last summer, the 36th overall pick from the 2023 MLB Draft spent the entire 2024 campaign with Low-A Rancho. Across 86 games, he posted a strong .279/.384/.328 slash line. Fantasy managers should expect the Atascocita HS product to remain with High-A during most of the 2025 season.Source: MiLB.com
Chase Petty Tosses Five Shutout Frames
5 days agoCincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Petty tossed five shutout innings against Triple-A Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Petty struck out four batters in this outing and allowed just three hits. He served up one free pass. Since allowing six earned runs and six hits in his first start of the campaign, Petty has begun to turn the corner. Over his last two outings, Petty has allowed just one run with a 1.33 WHIP across nine overall frames. Last summer, Petty spent most of his time with Double-A before receiving a brief taste of Triple-A. Through 127 innings of work with Double-A Chattanooga, Petty posted a modest 4.39 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. The former 26th overall pick could push for a mid-season MLB debut if he continues to succeed with Triple-A Louisville.Source: MiLB.com
Jhoan Duran Pitches A Clean Inning On Sunday
5 days agoMinnesota Twins closer Jhoan Duran pitched a clean ninth inning in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. Although his 1.42 ERA in 6 1/3 innings pitched so far in the season is encouraging, it's unfortunate that he still has zero save opportunities through 16 games. The Twins are now sitting at 5-11, so hopefully, they can turn it around and provide Duran with some more opportunities soon. All that aside, Duran has looked effective in his seven appearances, with an opponent batting average of .136 to go with the low ERA. Although the strikeout numbers are down, it's too early to sound the alarm. More importantly, the Twins need to give him some more consistent opportunities. Next for the Twins is a three-game home series against the New York Mets.Source: ESPN
Mauricio Dubon Steals Two Bases On Sunday
5 days agoHouston Astros utility man Mauricio Dubon had a nice afternoon Sunday, going 1-for-2 with one RBI, two runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. The two stolen bases, RBI, and runs scored were all his season's firsts. For the season, Dubon is slashing a poor .105/.190/.158, which are well below his career averages of .259/.295/.375. Those rostering Dubon should consider looking elsewhere for production, as he is batting at the bottom of the Astros' order and not playing consistently in their lineup. Dubon will look to keep it going this week as Houston travels to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals on Monday for a three-game series.Source: ESPN
Spencer Jones Hits Two Home Runs On Sunday
5 days agoNew York Yankees outfield prospect Spencer Jones went 3-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Double-A Reading on Sunday. This was Jones' second multi-hit game of the regular season. Through the first nine games of the Somerset Patriots' regular season, Jones has posted a strong .290/.421/.613 slash line with one double and three home runs. He has tallied seven RBI, scored eight runs, and swiped three bags. Jones is considered the No. 3 prospect in the Yankee system on MLB.com. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent the entire campaign with Double-A. Across 122 games, he held a modest .259/.336/.452 slash line with 17 long balls. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could be in the mix for a promotion to Triple-A if he continues to produce.Source: MiLB.com
Eric Wagaman With Three Knocks In Marlins 11-4 Win On Sunday
5 days agoMiami Marlins first baseman Eric Wagaman went 3-for-3 on Sunday with two runs scored and two walks. It was a nice afternoon for Wagaman, who is now slashing .231/.318/.359 on the season. The Marlins completed their three-game series against the Washington Nationals on Sunday and took two of three from them over the weekend. The Marlins had Wagaman batting in the cleanup spot on Sunday against a left-handed pitcher, which throughout the season could set up nicely for him as Xavier Edwards and Kyle Stowers batting in front of him both supporting a .406 and .410 on-base percentage, respectively. All that said, Wagaman is not recommended in most 12-team leagues but could be a pick-up in deeper leagues for those looking for a corner infielder if he continues to hit. Next for the Marlins is a three-game series starting Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks.Source: ESPN
Coby Mayo Finding Power At Triple-A
5 days agoBaltimore Orioles infield prospect Coby Mayo has begun to find his power at Triple-A. After starting the Triple-A regular season, posting an underwhelming .125/.267/.250 line with one long ball, Mayo has begun to flip the script. He has gone deep in each of his previous two games and is riding an impressive seven-game hitting streak. During this streak, Mayo has held a .360/.469/.720 slash line with three doubles, two round-trippers, and eight RBI. He has also shown a strong eye at the plate, posting a 6:7 BB:K. Last summer, Mayo made his MLB debut but tallied just four hits (all singles) across his first 17-game stint. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as Mayo could push for a return to the majors. However, he may need to wait for an injury in the Baltimore infield to be in contention.Source: MiLB.com
Willson Contreras Smacks His First Home Run Of The Season
5 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras hit his first home run of the 2025 season against the Philadelphia Phillies' ace, Zack Wheeler. The home run was a two-run shot in the fourth inning that opened up the scoring for the Cardinals and gave them a 2-0 lead. The Cardinals never looked back and walked away with the 7-0 win against the Phillies (9-6). On the afternoon, Contreras went 2-for-4 with the home run and a double. He is off to a slow start to begin his 2025 campaign, with a poor slash line of .158/.213/.263; however, Contreras is a career .256 hitter at the Major League level, so fantasy managers can expect him to pick it up as the season progresses. Up next for the Cardinals is a three-game series against the Houston Astros at home. Contreras will look to keep the hot bat going in that series.Source: ESPN
Nick Kurtz Launches Home Run No. 7
5 days agoAthletics infield prospect Nick Kurtz launched his seventh home run of the Triple-A regular season on Saturday against El Paso. The former fourth overall pick in last year's MLB Draft has enjoyed an incredible start to the season and is nearing his MLB debut. Across his first 14 games at the Triple-A level, Kurtz has posted a .367/.409/.817 slash line with six doubles and seven round-trippers. He has tallied 22 RBI, scored 15 runs, and held a 5:15 BB:K. The Wake Forest product enjoyed a strong spring training as well, which allowed him the opportunity to begin the regular season at the top level of the minor leagues. After being drafted last summer, Kurtz saw a brief look at Low-A and Double-A and held an overall .368/.520/.763 slash line. Fantasy managers in 12-team formats should consider stashing Kurtz as he will be a must-start option when he reaches the big leagues.Source: MiLB.com
Hyeseong Kim Performing Well With Triple-A Oklahoma City
5 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers infielder Hyeseong Kim has begun to find his footing with Triple-A Oklahoma City and could be nearing his MLB debut. Since going 0-for-4 in the season opening, Kim has posted a stellar .310/.385/.621 slash line with seven doubles and three home runs. He has swiped four bags, tallied 13 RBI, and scored 16 runs. Over his last six contests, Kim has begun to flash some power upside, launching three long balls with three doubles. Kim was initially expected to make the Opening Day roster after inking a three-year deal with the Dodgers during the winter. However, in the Cactus League, the 26-year-old posted a modest .207/.303/.310 slash line, which resulted in his demotion. Kim could be in the mix for an early MLB debut if he continues this impressive production.Source: MiLB.com
Yandy Diaz Homers In Rays Win On Sunday
5 days agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz blasted his second home run of the season in Sunday's 8-3 win over the Atlanta Braves. The home run came in the first inning off Chris Sale, the 2024 NL Cy Young winner. Diaz has gotten off to a slow start to the season, but in his last six games, he has gone 7-for-23 (.304). So far this season, Diaz is now slashing .210/.242/.355, scoring eight runs with three RBI, to go along with the two home runs. Diaz is a career .287 hitter, so fantasy managers should expect him to turn it around as he's barrelling the ball up and still ranks in the 82nd percentile in hard-hit percentage. Next for Diaz and the Rays is a series against divisional rivals, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Diaz will look to keep it going and stay hot at the plate.Source: ESPN
Jordan Lawlar Stays Hot On Sunday
5 days agoArizona Diamondbacks infield prospect Jordan Lawlar went 2-for-5 with a home run during their contest against Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. This was another strong showing for the infielder. Over his previous 10 contests with Triple-A Reno, Lawlar has posted a .349/.440/.605 slash line with five doubles, two home runs, and two stolen bases. He has tallied 10 RBI over this stretch and held a 6:15 BB:K. The 22-year-old is viewed as not only the top prospect in the desert but one of the best in the sport. He was able to earn a small taste of the majors in 2023 but could not return to the big leagues in 2024 due to numerous injuries. However, it appears the 22-year-old is healthy and performing at a high level at the top level of the minors. He is worth stashing in all 15+ team formats as he could return to the majors in the coming weeks.Source: MiLB.com
