3 weeks agoEdmonton Oilers center Mattias Janmark (illness) did not practice on Wednesday, leaving his status uncertain for Thursday's matchup against the New Jersey Devils. According to Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch, Janmark missed the practice session due to an illness. Janmark has been an inconsistent offensive contributor for the Oilers in 2024-25. In 63 games, he has recorded two goals and 17 points with a career-low shooting percentage of 5.0. If Janmark isn't in game shape on Thursday, Kasperi Kapanen is likely to rejoin the lineup. Kapanen has also been unreliable offensively, going seven straight appearances without scoring a point. So far this season, he has accumulated six goals and five assists in 49 games.Source: Daniel Nugent-Bowman
3 weeks agoEdmonton Oilers defenseman Mattias Ekholm (undisclosed) is likely to miss three more games. He has already been sidelined for three games and will miss at least a few additional contests, as the Swedish veteran did not travel with the team for a three-game road trip. The positive news for the team is that John Klingberg (undisclosed) has joined the trip. He could be ready to jump into the lineup on Thursday against the New Jersey Devils. If not, Troy Stecher will likely continue to play. Stecher ended a 16-game barren spell with an assist in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres.Source: Daniel Nugent-Bowman
3 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Chris Tanev (upper body) practiced on Wednesday and might be ready to rejoin the action on Thursday against the Florida Panthers. He has missed six games due to an upper-body injury. "I don't know, it's day to day here," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said Wednesday. "We will make a decision tomorrow when he comes in and we see how he feels." Tanev has played an important role at the back for Toronto, registering a team-best plus-26 rating in 57 games. He has notched 17 points (two goals, 15 assists) while blocking 151 shots, which is also a team-high total.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender Ville Husso will make his team debut in Wednesday's matchup against the Utah Hockey Club. The Finnish netminder was picked up by the Ducks on Feb. 25 in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings, but he has only seen AHL action with the organization so far, going 3-1-0 with the San Diego Gulls. Husso had a nightmare with the Red Wings earlier in the campaign, posting a 1-5-0 record with a horrible .866 save percentage and a 3.69 goals-against average. Things could get rough for him again on Wednesday, as Utah has averaged 3.4 goals over its last five games.Source: Derek Lee
3 weeks agoMontreal Canadiens goaltender Jakub Dobes will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening when the Canadiens travel to Seattle to face the Kraken. Dobes has been deployed as the clear No. 2 option behind Sam Montembeault throughout the season. Over his last two outings, Dobes has held a 1-1 record with a .939 save percentage and a 1.53 GAA. Before this recent stretch, the 23-year-old held a 0-2-1 record with an underwhelming .868 save percentage and a 4.68 GAA. The rookie netminder has flashed upside at times this season but has struggled to remain consistent. He has allowed two goals or less in six of his 11 starts. The former fifth-round selection is worth considering in DFS formats as a value option as he should be in a good position to perform well against a weak Seattle offense.Source: Montreal Canadiens
3 weeks agoUtah Hockey Club goaltender Karel Vejmelka will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening against the Anaheim Ducks. Vejmelka will be making his eighth-straight start. During this seven-game stretch, the 28-year-old has held a 4-1-2 record with a strong 2.11 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Before this stretch, the 28-year-old has posted an underwhelming 3.25 GAA with a .885 save percentage. Through 41 total contests this season, Vejmelka has posted a 17-16 record with a .909 save percentage, 2.49 GAA and one shutout. Fantasy managers should consider Vejmelka as a solid option in deeper formats this evening as the Ducks have struggled to generate scoring opportunities consistently. DFS players should also consider starting Vejmelka as he should be in a good position to pick up a victory.Source: Brogan Houston
3 weeks agoDallas Stars center Roope Hintz (face) could return to the lineup on Sunday to face the Colorado Avalanche. Hintz will not suit up on Friday but may not face an extended absence. He sustained this injury on Saturday during their loss to the Edmonton Oilers. Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status leading up to their game on Sunday. On Friday, fantasy managers should expect Matt Duchene to continue to play on the top forward line alongside Jason Robertson and Mikael Granlund. Before Saturday's contest, Hintz was riding a six-game point streak. During this stretch, he found the back of the net three times and added 13 helpers. Through 59 contests, the 28-year-old has tallied 52 points, 15 of which came on the power-play. When he returns to the lineup, he should be started in all formats and viewed as a top option in DFS.Source: Mike Heika
3 weeks agoThe New York Rangers have signed goaltender Jonathan Quick to a one-year extension worth $1.55 million. After winning three Stanley Cups with the Los Angeles Kings, Quick has become the No. 2 option behind Igor Shesterkin. Last season, Quick performed quite well in this role, holding an 18-6-2 record with a .911 save percentage and a 2.62 GAA. He posted two shutouts. Quick has seen his production decline this season as he has held a higher 3.14 GAA with a .896 save percentage across 21 contests. Earlier this season, Quick became the only United States-born netminder to win 400 games at the NHL level. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Quick to serve as the backup option behind Shesterkin as the Rangers hope for a late-season playoff push. Given his lack of consistent ice time, he should only be rostered in deeper formats and could be a viable streaming option in favorable matchups.Source: New York Rangers
3 weeks agoCalgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening when the Flames host the Vancouver Canucks. Wolf is riding a two-game win streak into this contest. During this stretch, the rookie has posted a strong .945 save percentage with a 1.50 GAA. Before this recent string of outings, the 23-year-old held an underwhelming 2-5-2 over his last nine starts with a .905 save percentage with a 2.69 GAA. Through 38 total games this season, Wolf has emerged as one of the league's most consistent goaltenders, posting a .915 save percentage and a 2.52 GAA. When playing at home, Wolf has been especially dominant as he has gone 15-6-2 with a 2.17 GAA. He should be viewed as a top pay in DFS this evening and should be started in all formats.Source: Pat Steinberg
3 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings goaltender Petr Mrazek is expected to get the starting nod on Wednesday evening when the Red Wings host the Buffalo Sabres. Mrazek was traded to the Red Wings from the Chicago Blackhawks prior to the Trade Deadline. Mrazek began his NHL career in Detroit and will look to lead them to a playoff birth. Earlier this season, Mrazek has held a modest 10-19-2 record with the Blackhawks. Across 33 games, he has held a modest 3.46 GAA with a .890 save percentage. This is a slight decline compared to the 18-31-4 record and the 3.04 GAA and .907 save percentage he posted during the 2023 campaign. Fantasy managers should expect Mrazek to split time in the crease alongside Alex Lyon and Cam Talbot. He is a viable play in DFS this evening facing the Sabres who are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.Source: Sam Stockton
3 weeks agoWashington Capitals right wing Aliaksei Protas earned his first career hat trick on Tuesday evening during their 7-4 victory over the Anaheim Ducks. Protas tallied his first goal in the opening frame and found the back of the net the other two times in the final period. All of his goals came during even strength play. In this contest, Protas logged six shots on goal and held a +4 rating with one hit. This outing also extended his current point streak to three games. Through 65 total games, the 24-year-old has enjoyed a career-season as he has tallied 58 points (28 goals) with 125 shots on goal (1.9 per game) and a +39 rating. He remains a must-start player in all standard formats and will look to stay hot on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoOttawa Senators center Michael Amadio tallied a goal and an assist during their 5-2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday evening. Amadio found the back of the net in the second period during even-strength play. His goal would stand as the game-winner. Later in the third, Amadio would add the primary assist on Shane Pinto's empty-netter. The 28-year-old has enjoyed a recent increase in offensive production as he has tallied six points (three goals) over his last six. During this span, he has logged 11 shots on goal with eight hits and four blocks. However, before this recent stretch, Amadio found the back of the net just five times and added nine helpers over his previous 48 contests. Fantasy managers in deeper formats could consider streaming Amadio given his recent play when the Senators face the Bruins on Thursday evening.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils left wing Jesper Bratt tallied three points during their 5-3 victory over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday evening. In the opening frame, Bratt would tally two of his points. First, he would earn the primary assist on Nico Hischier's power-play strike. Later in the period, Bratt would find the back of the net during 5-on-5 play. Then in the third, Bratt would tally his final point, this time on the secondary assist on Luke Hughes' goal. Leading up to Tuesday's contest, Bratt tallied just two points (two assists) and held a -4 rating over his last six games. However, before this slump, Bratt was quite productive as he held a 10-game point streak. The 26-year-old will look to kickstart another offensive surge on Thursday against the Oilers.Source: NHL.com
3 weeks agoTampa Bay Lightning right wing Nikita Kucherov (undisclosed) missed the entire third period during their loss to the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday evening. The team did not provide an update on his status after the game. Fantasy managers should keep a close eye on his status during their next practice as he could be in danger of missing their contest against the Flyers on Thursday. Before exiting early, Kucherov did not get on the scoresheet and held a -2 rating. Before this game, Kucherov tallied 10 points (three goals) over his last eight while averaging 3.25 shots on goal per game. Through 61 games this season, the 31-year-old has been one of the most consistent forwards in the league as he has tallied 92 points (28 goals) through 61 contests. He has averaged a stellar 3.6 shots on goal per game with a +13 rating. If he were to miss time, Nick Paul or Oliver Bjorkstrand could move up to the top forward line.Source: Benjamin Pierce
3 weeks agoNew York Islanders defenseman Adam Boqvist (undisclosed) exited Tuesday's contest early. The 24-year-old took a hard hit in the second period and did not log a shift during the final frame. Before exiting, Boqvist saw just under eight minutes of ice time. He did not get on the scoresheet. Fantasy managers should monitor his status leading up to their next game on Friday, when the Islanders host the Edmonton Oilers. Before Tuesday's game, Boqvist tallied four points (one goal) over his last four contests. During this stretch, the 24-year-old tallied four shots on goal with three hits and a blocked shot. Through 30 total games, Boqvist has tallied 11 points with 37 shots on goal. Scott Perunovich could draw into the starting lineup if he were to miss time.Source: Stefen Rosner
