9 months agoFormer Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Raekwon Davis signed a two-year, $14 million base-value deal with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday, according to his agent, Trevon Smith. After being taken in the second round by Miami in 2020 out of Alabama, Davis has accumulated 129 total tackles (59 solo), only two sacks, five tackles for loss and 10 QB hits in 63 games (48 starts) in four seasons. In all 17 regular-season games in 2023, the 26-year-old interior defensive lineman made seven starts and had 28 tackles (15 solo) and half a sack. Davis figures to be a rotational piece on the interior of Indy's defensive line in 2024 and can be avoided for IDP fantasy purposes.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts re-signed cornerback Kenny Moore to a three-year, $30 million deal on Tuesday that makes him the highest-paid nickel cornerback in the NFL, according to a source. Moore, who was a Pro Bowler for the first and only time in his career in 2021, had 93 total tackles (68 solo), 1.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss, three interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and six passes defended in 16 starts in 2023 in his seventh season with Indianapolis. It was a rebound from a down year in 2022 in which he only played in 12 contests. The 28-year-old corner finished last year as the No. 12 overall defensive back in IDP fantasy leagues and should be in play as a starter at the position in those setups again in 2024.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts re-signed defensive tackle Grover Stewart on Monday to a three-year, $39 million deal, according to a source. Stewart played in a career-low 11 games for the Colts in his seventh year with the team in 2023 due to a suspension for performance-enhancing drugs, ultimately finishing with 41 tackles (23 solo), half a sack, five tackles for loss and eight QB hits. The 30-year-old had career-highs in total tackles (70) and sacks (four) in 2022, though, and he remained pretty productive in his 11 starts last year after he served his six-game suspension. The former fourth-round selection in 2017 out of Albany State isn't much of an IDP fantasy option with only nine career sacks, but he's a steady force on the interior of Indy's defensive line with 280 career combined tackles in 107 games played.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts and standout wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. agreed to a three-year, $70 million contract extension on Monday, according to a source. The deal can reach up to $71.5 million maximum and includes $46 million guaranteed. The deal means that Pittman won't play the 2024 season under the franchise tag. It's a major win for both sides. The Colts had no intentions of letting one of the best receivers in the game reach the open market, which is why they used their franchise tag on the 26-year-old to buy them a little extra time to work on an extension. The former second-round pick in 2020 out of USC had a career-high 1,152 receiving yards and four touchdowns on a career-high 109 receptions in 16 games in 2023 and is a no-doubt WR1 in fantasy.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin is signing a three-year $31.26 million contract extension with the organization, keeping him with the team long-term. Franklin's 107 solo tackles and 179 total tackles ranked second in the NFL last year, only behind Bobby Wagner. He became a star of the team's defense after the release of former All-Pro Shaquille Leonard, so the Colts prioritized keeping him in Indianapolis. Franklin is one of the most active off-ball linebackers in the NFL, making him one of the top IDP players in fantasy football.Source: Adam Schefter
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Star's Nate Atkins suggests that the Indianapolis Colts could target Baltimore Ravens impending free-agent running back Gus Edwards on the open market this offseason as insurance to lead back Jonathan Taylor. The Colts could re-sign Zack Moss, but he's going to look for a starting role after a breakout contract year in 2023. Edwards had a career-high 13 rushing touchdowns last season and is a bruising back that would help spell Taylor in the backfield. Edwards has also averaged 4.9 yards per carry in his career and could pair well with rushing quarterback Anthony Richardson. At 29 years old, he could prefer a more specialized role in order to prolong his career. In addition to Edwards, Atkins suggests receiver Josh Reynolds and veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor as other offensive free agents the Colts could look at this offseason.Source: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts re-signed backup center Jack Anderson to a one-year deal ahead of 2024 free agency. Originally a 2021 seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills out of Texas Tech, Anderson has played in 15 games with three starts between his time with the Colts, Bills, New York Giants, and Philadelphia Eagles. He did not log a snap in 2023. Starting center Ryan Kelly is one of the best players at his position, so this is simply a depth-solidifying move for the organization that aims to protect second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson in 2024.Source: Indianapolis Colts on X
9 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts are using their franchise tag on wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. on Tuesday, according to sources. The tag will be worth $21.816 million, so that's what Pittman will receive in 2024 if he and the Colts aren't able to agree on a long-term extension by the deadline in mid-July. The Colts made it clear that they weren't going to let the 26-year-old wideout reach the open market this offseason. Despite working with quarterback Gardner Minshew for the majority of 2023, the former second-rounder in 2020 out of USC put up career-highs in catches (109), targets (156) and receiving yards (1,152) while scoring four times in 16 games. Pittman is a no-doubt WR1 in fantasy that could have even more upside with young QB Anthony Richardson (shoulder) returning in 2024.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith (knee) had surgery on the knee that had him hobbled for much of last season, according to general manager Chris Ballard. The Colts are hoping for a much healthier 2024 season out of Smith after he missed seven games in 2023 due to the injury. The former second-round selection in 2018 out of Auburn has had his fair share of injury concerns in his six seasons in the NFL, but the Colts are hoping his recent surgery will make his knee injury a thing of the past heading into the 2024 campaign. The 27-year-old offensive lineman has two years left on his four-year, $70 million deal.Source: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said that impending free-agent wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. will be on the roster come Week 1 of the 2024 season this fall, either by an extension or the franchise tag, if necessary. The Colts aren't planning to let Pittman get away in free agency this offseason. The 26-year-old would make $21.8 million this year if he plays under the franchise tag, but both sides would prefer an extension. The former second-round pick in 2020 out of USC has blossomed into a WR1 in fantasy after four seasons in the league, two of which (including 2023) resulted in 1,000-yard seasons. Pittman had career-highs in catches (109), targets (156) and receiving yards (1,152) while scoring four times in 16 games last year. He could get even better with young quarterback Anthony Richardson returning from injury in 2024.Source: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins
9 months agoGiven the fact that the Indianapolis Colts' secondary was repeatedly torched last year due to its inexperience and injuries in the cornerback room, The Athletic's James Boyd suggests that it wouldn't be a surprise if the team addressed that issue with the No. 15 overall pick in the first round of this year's NFL draft. Kenny Moore II, the team's most experienced cornerback, is scheduled to become a free agent in March, and even if they re-sign the 28-year-old, there are no other proven options at the position on the roster. Last year's second-rounder, JuJu Brents, showed promise, but injuries limited him to nine games as a rookie. If the Colts decide to use their early draft picks on another position, they will need to address the cornerback position through free agency.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
9 months agoThe Athletic's James Boyd writes that Indianapolis Colts tight end Mo Alie-Cox is an easy target if the team wishes to create more salary cap space this offseason. He's entering the final year of a three-year, $17.6 million contract extension that he signed in 2022. Alie-Cox is due the last $5.9 million of that in 2024, but none of it is guaranteed. The 30-year-old is the team's best blocking tight end and has recorded at least three touchdowns in each of the last three seasons, but he's not getting any younger and is unlikely to develop into a true No. 1 pass-catching tight end at this point of his career. Both Will Mallory and third-year tight end Jelani Woods, who missed all of 2023 with hamstring issues, give the Colts more upside at the position amid their current youth movement. Alie-Cox hasn't been much more than a low-upside, touchdown-dependent TE2 option for fantasy managers in deep leagues.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard has acknowledged that using the franchise tag on impending free-agent wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. this offseason is an option. Pittman has been the team's leading receiver the past three seasons and will be one of the league's top free agents if he reaches the open market. The Colts have been more reluctant than most teams to use the tag -- they haven't used the tag on a player since tagging former punter Pat McAfee in 2013. Tagging Pittman in 2024 would cost around $20.7 million. The 26-year-old has accumulated 336 catches, 3,662 yards and 15 touchdowns in his first four seasons, which would put him in line to cash in considerably on the open market. No matter where Pittman lands in 2024 if he hits the free-agent market, he should profile as a WR1 in fantasy.Source: Indianapolis Star - Joel A. Erickson
9 months agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is throwing again after suffering a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in October that required surgery. The No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft flashed fantasy upside early in his career, averaging 23.1 fantasy points per game through his first three starts. However, he suffered a concussion and a major shoulder injury before making it to Week 6. The 6'4" signal-caller has elite physical traits, but he'll have to find a way to stay healthy to live up to his potential. With Richardson already throwing in February, he's likely to be one of the first 10 quarterbacks off the board in 2024 fantasy drafts due to his rushing upside.Source: Deiric Jackson
10 months agoIndianapolis Colts impending free-agent running back Zack Moss said that he would be interested in re-signing with the team this offseason. Moss showed that he still belongs in the league in 2023 when he took advantage of added opportunities with Jonathan Taylor missing time due to injuries. The 26-year-old played in 14 games (eight starts) and was productive with 794 rushing yards and a career-high five touchdowns on 183 rushing attempts, adding 27 receptions on 37 targets for an additional 192 yards and two touchdowns. If Moss does return to the Colts, it will be as the clear backup to Taylor, and he won't be nearly as productive unless Taylor misses more time due to injury. At best, he'll be a handcuff option for fantasy managers that take Taylor in fantasy drafts this fall if he returns to the Colts.Source: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins
