6 days agoUtah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen (back) has been ruled out ahead of Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings. He is set to miss his second game in a row due to a back issue. This puts the Jazz in a tough spot with John Collins (back) also sidelined and Walker Kessler (illness) considered questionable to play. The Jazz will likely ask Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski to play bigger roles in the rotation. Both are worth looking at as streaming options, but Filipowski might be the slightly better streaming option after posting a double-double on Monday.Source: Andy Larsen
6 days agoUtah Jazz center Walker Kessler (illness) is listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings. Kessler is still recovering from an illness that forced him to miss Monday's contest. The Jazz are likely going to wait and see how he feels on Wednesday before making a final decision. Both John Collins (back) and Lauri Markkanen (back) are still sidelined, so the Jazz could be shorthanded for this game. If Kessler sits again, Brice Sensabaugh and Kyle Filipowski figure to have bigger roles in the rotation. Right now, both players are worth looking at as streaming options with the Jazz banged up.Source: Andy Larsen
6 days agoWashington Nationals starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore is set to make his spring debut on Saturday. The Nationals will play in split-squad games against the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals that day. Gore has yet to pitch in a spring training game but has remained active on the mound. He threw two innings against live hitters earlier this week and noted that everything feels "normal" and that he is on the "same schedule as everybody." Gore is expected to serve as the ace of the rotation once again. Last season, the southpaw held a 3.90 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP across 166 1/3 innings of work. He tallied an impressive 181 punchouts but had a high 8.9 percent walk rate. He also generated a modest 4.50 xERA and a .252 xBA, which placed him in the 39th and 31st percentile. Fantasy managers should view Gore as a late-round target when looking to bolster their rotation and increase their strikeout production.Source: Mark Zuckerman
6 days agoDenver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix (undisclosed) is "fine" and has been working out after undergoing an undisclosed procedure earlier this offseason, according to head coach Sean Payton. Nix's procedure was not related to his back injury from his rookie season. The surgery shouldn't have any affect on the 25-year-old's 2025 fantasy value after a very impressive first season in the NFL in which he threw for 3,775 yards, 29 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 567 pass attempts. The first-rounder out of Oregon also ran the ball 92 times for 430 yards and an additional four touchdowns to show off his underrated speed. Nix finished as the QB8 in overall fantasy scoring, and he did it all with a pretty non-existent running game to help him out. The Broncos will surely be looking to beef up their offensive weapons around Nix in his sophomore season, where he'll certainly be in play as a midrange QB1 target in fantasy drafts.Source: DNVR Sports - Zac Stevens
6 days agoDallas Mavericks center Dwight Powell (hip) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Mavs are banged up, but at least they'll get one reinforcement ahead of this game. Powell has been sidelined since mid-January due to a hip issue. That being said, Powell is likely going to be limited considering he hasn't played in over a month. Kessler Edwards figures to continue having a bigger role while Powell works his way back into the mix. Powell figures to see decent minutes once he's back up to full speed.Source: Tim MacMahon
6 days agoSeattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said on Tuesday at the NFL Combine that long-time offensive tackle Jason Peters is retiring this offseason to serve as an assistant to vice president of player affairs Mo Kelly. Peters didn't play in a single game in Seattle in 2024 before finishing the year on Injured Reserve with an undisclosed injury in December. The 43-year-old was an undrafted free agent out of Arkansas but began his 19-year NFL career with the Buffalo Bills in 2004. He ended up being named to nine Pro Bowls while also being named a first-team All-Pro twice. Peters spent the first five years of his career with the Bills before joining the Philadelphia Eagles for 11 years. He bounced around with the Chicago Bears, Dallas Cowboys and Seahawks from 2021-23 and finishes what could end up being a Hall of Fame career with 248 games played (221 starts).Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Gregg Bell
6 days agoLos Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (foot) is available ahead of Tuesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks. As expected, James will suit up for this contest after being listed as probable heading into Tuesday's game. He has been a regular on the injury report while dealing with ankle and foot issues throughout the season. Despite that, James will suit up and figures to play his normal role during Tuesday's game. Fantasy managers should go ahead and get James active in their lineups.Source: Marc Stein
6 days agoToronto Blue Jays third baseman Addison Barger (hand) is expected to return to the lineup on Wednesday. Barger went through a normal day of work on Tuesday and is on track to return to action on Wednesday. Barger exited Sunday's spring training contest earlier after being hit by a pitch on his hand. He went for X-rays, but the results were negative. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during camp, as he will likely continue to compete for a role at the hot corner. The 25-year-old made his MLB debut last season and posted a .197/.250/.351 line across 69 games. He hit seven home runs and swiped two bags. He is currently slated to be the No. 2 option at third base behind Ernie Clement. However, a strong spring could push him into a more significant role.Source: Shi Davidi
6 days agoSeattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider said on Tuesday that the team will meet with quarterback Geno Smith's agents this week to begin talks on a contract extension. Schneider said there is no deadline for an extension, but also that Smith is "our guy." Smith was better in 2024 than he was in 2023, throwing for 4,320 yards and 21 touchdowns in 17 starts, although he did throw 15 interceptions -- the most since he tossed 21 in his rookie year in 2013 with the Jets. It was good enough to make him the QB12 in overall fantasy points. The former second-round pick in 2013 out of West Virginia has established himself as a locked-in starter in Seattle the last three years, but at best in fantasy, he's a matchup-based, low-end QB1 streamer who will turn 35 years old this fall. He'll also be working with a new offensive coordinator yet again in 2025.Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta
6 days agoDetroit Tigers right-handed pitcher Ricky Vanasco (hip) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday. The 26-year-old is working his way back from a labral tear in his right hip. Vanasco signed a minor-league deal with Detroit earlier in the offseason. He underwent hip surgery in the offseason but has begun playing catch and will now look to take the next step in his recovery. The right-hander made his MLB debut last season and held a 6.75 ERA with a 0.75 WHIP across four innings of work. Through 40 1/3 innings at Triple-A last summer, the former 17th-round selection posted a 2.45 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP. He tallied 48 punchouts but served up 30 free passes. When he is cleared for action, fantasy managers should expect Vanasco to compete for a bullpen role.Source: Evan Woodbery
6 days agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said on Tuesday that the team will have an open competition at quarterback this offseason between Anthony Richardson and another player that is brought in. The Colts could draft a signal-caller -- they have the 14th overall pick in this year's NFL draft -- or pick a veteran up in free agency to compete with Richardson, who disappointed in his sophomore season and was limited to 11 starts due to more injuries and a benching. The 22-year-old former fourth overall pick out of Florida in 2023 only played in four games in his rookie season. Through his first two seasons in the NFL, Richardson has proved injury-prone and is a reliability in terms of accuracy, as he completed only 47.7% of his 264 pass attempts for 1,814 yards, eight TDs and 12 interceptions. The rushing upside is great, but fantasy managers will probably value him as more of an upside QB2 in 2025 if he wins the starting job.Source: Indianapolis Star - Joel A. Erickson
6 days agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Alex Cobb (hip) received an epidural injection to further aid in his recovery process. The right-hander is set to play catch tomorrow. Cobb is already expected to miss the start of the regular season and could face a more extended absence if he cannot be built up. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he works his way back from hip inflammation. Earlier in the offseason, the 37-year-old signed a one-year contract worth $15 million. Cobb was expected to open the season in the rotation, but with this injury, his absence will leave a spot open for at least a month. During camp, Matt Manning, Kenta Maeda, Casey Mize, and Ty Madden are expected to compete for this role. Last season, Cobb was limited to just 16 1/3 innings of work and could open this season on the injured list.Source: Evan Woodbery
6 days agoRyan Fox has started just two PGA events in 2025, posting results of T63 and a missed cut. He now turns his attention to the Cognizant Classic, hoping to get back on track at a tournament he has played in once before, finishing T35 in 2024. This success was driven by a strong performance on approach, where he gained 4.121 strokes, a category he has struggled with so far this year, losing 1.244 strokes over his first two events. Over the last 12 months, Fox ranks in the 56th percentile for proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of approach shots at PGA National. The bigger concern, however, comes with his greens in regulation, where he ranks near the bottom of the tour, hitting just 47.9% of greens on approach shots from that same distance. Given these struggles, Fox may be difficult for fantasy managers to trust at his price tag of $7,100 on DraftKings.Source: PGA Tour
6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black (back) was able to hit off a tee earlier on Tuesday. He is hoping to return to participate in spring training contests next week. Black is currently fighting for a spot on the Opening Day roster. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last season. Across a brief 18-game stint, the Wright State University product held a .204/.316/.245 slash line with two doubles and a 7:17 BB:K ratio. He swiped three bags. Through 102 contests at Triple-A last season, Black posted a solid .258/.374/.429 line with 14 doubles and 14 home runs. He swiped 20 bags and held an impressive 61:87 BB:K ratio. When healthy, Black will compete for a depth role in the infield alongside Oliver Dunn, Jake Bauers, and Andruw Monasterio.Source: Todd Rosiak
6 days agoJoel Dahmen has had a rollercoaster start to 2025 with three missed cuts and two top-10 finishes in his first five events, including a T6 finish last week at the Mexico Open. He now looks to carry that momentum into the Cognizant Classic, a tournament he has played in three times, missing the cut twice. PGA National is a very unforgiving course that demands precision on approach, an area where Dahmen excels. He currently ranks 21st in strokes gained on approach and sits in the 93rd percentile in proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of approach shots at this course. Although Dahmen has struggled to string together back-to-back strong finishes in his career, his price tag of $7,000 and solid approach play make him a worthwhile flier for fantasy managers this week.Source: PGA Tour
6 days agoMilwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio is expected to see time in center field during the 2025 campaign. Chourio received the starting nod in center field during Tuesday's spring training contest and will likely continue to see starts during the spring. If the budding star performs well during the rest of camp, fantasy managers should expect him to see occasional time in center field during the regular season. Last summer, Chourio made his MLB debut and split time in right and left field. However, when moving up through the minors, he did see time in center field. Across 148 contests, the 20-year-old posted a .275/.327/.464 line with 21 home runs and 22 stolen bases. Given his ability to contribute to all five standard categories, he is viewed as a high-upside No. 2 OF in all formats.Source: Todd Rosiak
6 days agoChristiaan Bezuidenhout has played in five events so far in 2025, missing just one cut and finishing in the top 40 in all other events, including a T4 finish at the WM Phoenix Open. He now looks ahead to the Cognizant Classic, an event where he has a decent history, posting results of T25, T42, and a missed cut in 2024. PGA National is one of the most difficult approach tests on tour, and this is an area where Bezuidenhout has struggled this year. He currently ranks 158th in strokes gained on approach, losing 9.291 strokes to the field over his first five events. Success at this course will also likely depend on avoiding around-the-green play, and Bezuidenhout ranks 91st in greens in regulation at 69.01%. He is also in just the 11th percentile in proximity from 150-200 yards, a range that accounts for 48.1% of all approach shots at this course. Given his performances in key stats, fantasy managers may want to avoid Bezuidenhout at his price tag of $7,500 on DraftKings this week.Source: PGA Tour
6 days agoC.J. Holmes of the New York Daily News reports that Brooklyn Nets center Nicolas Claxton will serve a one-game suspension during Wednesday's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Claxton received the suspension after picking up his sixth flagrant foul of the season against the Wizards on Monday. The 25-year-old big man will be eligible to return on Friday against the Trail Blazers. In Claxton's absence, Day'Ron Sharpe and Trendon Watford are expected to see increased opportunities in the Nets' frontcourt on Wednesday.Source: C.J. Holmes
6 days agoOttawa Senators forward Brady Tkachuk (lower body) left Tuesday's practice early, leaving his status up in the air for Wednesday's matchup against the Winnipeg Jets. The talented power forward suffered a lower-body injury during the 4 Nations Face-Off and may be absent for a second straight game. David Perron received a nice boost in playing time on Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens and looks to be in line for extra shifts again on Wednesday if Tkachuk remains out. However, the veteran winger has not been a good fantasy option in 2024-25, recording only four points (one goal, three assists) in 19 appearances.Source: NHL.com
6 days agoCalgary Flames defenseman Kevin Bahl (illness) will be back in action on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. After missing seven games with an upper-body injury, Bahl was sidelined on Sunday against San Jose due to an illness. His return will bump Jake Bean out of the lineup. Bahl will eat up minutes on the top defensive pairing next to Rasmus Andersson. Bahl's strengths primarily emerge in the defensive zone, as he has registered 79 blocks and 67 hits in 47 games. However, he occasionally chips in on the offensive end as well, boasting two goals and 12 assists for the season.Source: NHL.com
6 days agoAccording to Kayla Grey of TSN, Toronto Raptors center Jakob Poeltl (hip) won't play against the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. Poeltl will miss his eighth consecutive contest due to a hip injury. The 29-year-old sidelined has left a big hole in the Raptors rotation as he's had career-high 14.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season. Orlando Robinson has started at center in the past two games. He has averaged 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in these games. Without Poeltl, there is also more playing time for Jonathan Mogbo and Chris Boucher.Source: Kayla Grey
6 days agoPittsburgh Penguins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk (upper body) will be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. Due to an upper-body injury, Grzelcyk was limited to only five minutes of action on Sunday against the New York Rangers. However, he will not miss any additional time, rejoining Erik Karlsson on the second defensive pairing for Tuesday's game. Grzelcyk is tied for third with 72 blocks on the Penguins roster and has contributed one goal and 27 assists on the offensive end in 59 games. His recent production has not been great, though, as Grzelcyk has posted one assist in six February outings.Source: NHL.com
6 days agoBuffalo Sabres right wing Alex Tuch (undisclosed) is a game-time decision for Tuesday's matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Tuch left Saturday's blowout win against the New York Rangers early due to an undisclosed injury. However, it looks like there is a chance he will not have to miss additional action. Tuch had recorded back-to-back three-point efforts and was riding a four-game point streak before going scoreless across 13:19 of ice time on Saturday. He has been sharp throughout the campaign, notching 19 goals and 43 points in 55 appearances. Jason Zucker (undisclosed), who had a maintenance day on Monday, is also a game-time decision for Tuesday. If either or both Tuch and Zucker miss the action, Buffalo may utilize Jordan Greenway or Jack Quinn in the top six.Source: Lance Lysowski
6 days agoNew York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson (lower body) will remain sidelined for Tuesday's clash against the New York Rangers. He has been out for 10 games with a lower-body injury. Last week, Dobson returned to practice in full capacity, but he will sit out at least one more contest. Dobson has taken a step back in 2024-25, posting 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 46 games. Alexander Romanov has carried a massive load during Dobson's absence, though the Islanders' backline recently received help with Ryan Pulock's return. Scott Mayfield has also come back from injury but is expected to be a healthy scratch on Tuesday.Source: NHL.com
6 days agoAlthough New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen didn't touch on any of the rumors surrounding Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, The Athletic's Dan Duggan is convinced that the veteran signal-caller is firmly on the table for the Giants this offseason as they look to upgrade at the position. Schoen did say "we're going to look for the best player available that can help us win games in 2025." The Rams are playing hardball with Stafford and don't want to pay him over $50 million a year on a possible two-year deal, so if another team like the Giants is willing to pay him more and surrender some draft picks to acquire him in a trade, the 37-year-old could be shipped out of L.A. to play out the last couple years of his career. Despite his advanced age, Stafford proved last year he's still a top-12 QB in the league, although for fantasy purposes he's in the QB2 range.Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan
6 days agoCharlotte Hornets forward Tidjane Salaun (ankle) is unavailable against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Salaun is sidelined due to a sprained right ankle. The 19-year-old rookie has played in 43 games averaging 5.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists in 19.3 minutes per contest in his first NBA season. His next chance to get back in the Hornets rotation is on Thursday in Dallas against the Mavs. While Salaun is on the shelf Josh Green and Seth Curry will likely take on extra minutes in the contest.Source: Charlotte Hornets PR
6 days agoDetroit Red Wings forward Andrew Copp (upper body) has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his left pectoral tendon. He was injured in Saturday's matchup against the Minnesota Wild. Copp's recovery is expected to take 4-6 months. The 30-year-old finishes the 2024-25 campaign with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) in 56 outings. Detroit has placed Copp on Injured Reserve and recalled Sheldon Dries from the AHL in a corresponding move. Dries, who last saw NHL action in 2022-23, is projected to enter the lineup on the fourth line Tuesday night for a rematch against Minnesota.Source: ESPN
6 days agoSince having two top-15 finishes to begin the year, Beau Hossler's game has taken a giant step backward over his last three events. This has mainly come from the ball-striking side of things. However, last week in Mexico saw him lose strokes across the board —aside from off the tee— en route to missing the cut by one shot. It's difficult to get excited for a player who has only gained strokes on approach in one event this season at a place like the Champion Course. If the saving grace of his putting and wedges don't come back this week, he'll likely be packing things up early.Source: Data Golf
6 days agoCincinnati Bengals lead executive Duke Tobin said on Tuesday that wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase will become the highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL this offseason. "We're there, let's get it done… signed contract that's what needs to happen," Tobin said. The Bengals couldn't get an extension done with the 24-year-old All-Pro pass-catcher before the start of the regular season, but that won't happen this year. Chase deserves a raise and should pass Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson ($35 million average salary per year) as the highest-paid non-QB in the league this offseason after he came away with the receiving Triple Crown in 2024 by leading the NFL in catches (127), receiving yards (1,708) and touchdowns (17) in 17 games played. The four-time Pro Bowler and former Offensive Rookie of the Year will be the top receiver off the board in the first round of fantasy drafts this fall.Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe
6 days agoCincinnati Bengals director of personnel Duke Tobin said on Tuesday that he's "optimistic" about re-signing wide receiver Tee Higgins. "Our preference with Tee Higgins is to do a long-term extension," Tobin said. The Bengals are attempting to do some serious juggling to fit all their star players into the 2025 salary cap, but it is possible, even though they are fully expecting to make receiver Ja'Marr Chase the league's highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL this offseason as well. To buy themselves some more time, Cincy is expected to place the franchise tag on Higgins for the second straight year. Although the 26-year-old played in just 12 games due to some injuries, he was money for fantasy managers when he was on the field by posting 73 receptions, 911 yards and a career-high 10 touchdowns on 109 targets. Higgins would probably have a higher fantasy ceiling elsewhere, but he'll be a solid WR2 if he stays in Cincy.Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe
