3 weeks agoColorado Avalanche forward Ross Colton (lower body) is expected to be out for a while. Colton appeared to have injured his leg while blocking a shot in Monday's matchup against Chicago. After the game, the 28-year-old was seen in a walking boot, and Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said that Colton will miss "some time." Colton has been on fire to start the season, scoring a team-high eight goals and totaling nine points in 10 games. He has been utilized on the top line and on the first power-play unit. Nikolai Kovalenko might now get another look next to Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen.Source: Colleen Flynn
3 weeks agoEdmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid (lower body) will miss the rest of the team's road trip after getting hurt on Monday versus Columbus. The Oilers captain was injured on his first shift against the Blue Jackets and has returned to Edmonton to get evaluated for a lower-body injury. The team hit the halfway point of its four-game road trip on Monday and has two more stops to come, starting with Thursday's matchup against Nashville. McDavid has been slow out the gate this season but still averages a point per game through 10 outings with three goals and seven assists. Adam Henrique could get a chance to rejoin the top six in McDavid's absence, with Leon Draisaitl taking over as the first-line center.Source: Sportsnet
4 weeks agoColorado Avalanche goaltender Alexandar Georgiev will make his sixth start of the campaign on Monday versus Chicago. Georgiev has had an awful beginning to the season, but he will get a chance to grab a second consecutive victory in a favorable matchup. The Russian netminder beat Anaheim in his last outing 4-3 in overtime with 19 saves to improve to 1-3-0. Georgiev has led the league in wins in back-to-back years, but his goals-against average for this season stands at an ugly 4.99 ahead of Monday's action. Additionally, he has registered a poor .811 save percentage. Georgiev's struggles have allowed Justus Annunen to shine. He won a fourth consecutive start on Sunday with a 26-save effort versus Ottawa. Annunen will likely return to the crease for the next game.Source: Aarif Deen
4 weeks agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon (lower body) practiced fully on Monday and could be ready to rejoin the lineup in Tuesday's matchup against Pittsburgh. The Wild captain has been on the shelf for the past six games with a lower-body injury. Brock Faber has logged massive minutes during Spurgeon's absence, with the rest of the blue line stepping up as well. Spurgeon skated with Jonas Brodin on the first defensive pairing on Monday. Brodin has previously been paired with Zach Bogosian, who has to settle for a lesser role once Spurgeon is back in the lineup.Source: NHL.com
4 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins right wing Bryan Rust (lower body) sat out Monday's practice. He sustained a lower-body injury on Saturday versus Vancouver and is still getting evaluated. Rust has tallied three goals and four points in eight outings this season. He skated on the second line with Evgeni Malkin at the weekend, but Malkin was moved to the first line in Monday's practice. The Penguins have dropped five games in a row and look set to play Malkin and Sidney Crosby together on the same line to stop the rot on Tuesday versus Minnesota.Source: NHL.com
4 weeks agoCarolina Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen (lower body) will miss Monday's contest against Vancouver. He was hurt in Saturday's 4-1 triumph over Seattle. Andersen collected his third consecutive win at the weekend, improving to 3-1-0 for the year. He has allowed 1.49 goals with a .941 save percentage. The team will go with Pyotr Kochetkov between the sticks on Monday, with Spencer Martin, who was summoned from the AHL, working as his backup. Kochetkov boasts a decent 2-1-0 record with a 2.70 goals-against average but has registered a lowly .896 save percentage this season. It could be a struggle for him against a team that averages 3.43 goals per game.Source: NHL.com
4 weeks agoBuffalo Sabres right wing Nicolas Aube-Kubel (lower body) will rejoin the action on Monday versus Florida. He has been unavailable since sustaining a lower-body injury in Buffalo's season opener on Oct. 4. Aube-Kubel has notched 78 points (31 goals, 47 assists) in 282 career appearances. While he has struggled to be a consistent offensive threat, he may have a greater impact on Monday, as the 28-year-old is expected to skate on the second line. Aube-Kubel will be accompanied by talented youngsters Dylan Cozens and Jack Quinn.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe signed a five-year extension on Monday. He will earn $22.55 million with the deal. McCabe's current contract is worth $16 million across four years. The 31-year-old is ranked second on the team in blocks and hits this season, with 17 and 19, respectively. Offensively, he has contributed three assists with seven shots on goal. Last season, McCabe notched a career-high 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) in 73 games while delivering 219 hits and blocking 129 shots. McCabe's two-way ability makes him a useful fantasy piece in many formats.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoFlorida Panthers center Aleksander Barkov (lower body) will return to action on Monday versus Buffalo. The Panthers captain has been out for eight games with a lower-body injury. He makes his comeback at a good time, as Florida is set to travel to his native Finland for a couple of games later in the week. Barkov goes back to the top line, bumping Sam Bennett to the second. Anton Lundell heads to the third line, losing a large chunk of his fantasy value. However, he's been very productive in recent games and could still make noise in a favorable matchup on Monday.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoPhiladelphia Flyers defenseman Travis Sanheim enjoyed a big offensive outing in Sunday's clash with Montreal, posting two goals and one assist in a 4-3 loss. This was Sanheim's fourth three-point effort of his career. The 28-year-old has had a very slow start to the campaign at the attacking end, but he appears to have found his stride lately, posting all five of his points this season in the past four games. Sanheim has quickly become the team's scoring leader among defensemen. He also finished last season at the top of the pile with a career-high 44 points (10 goals, 34 assists) in 81 outings.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton had a two-assist night as the team beat Anaheim 6-2 on Sunday. Hamilton collected his first helper on a power-play goal by Stefan Noesen in the second period, which ended up as the game-winning marker, and he tallied his second assist when Nico Hischier scored his league-leading ninth goal of the campaign early in the third. Last season, Hamilton was limited to only 20 appearances due to injury, and he hasn't been very productive to start the 2024-25 campaign. However, the talented blue-liner has been back to his best lately, collecting all six of his points this season across the last six games. Four of the points have come in power-play situations. Hamilton and the Devils take on Vancouver next but then play against two teams with poor penalty-killing records: Calgary and Edmonton.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoEdmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl put together his first three-point effort of the season on Sunday, finishing a 3-2 overtime victory against Detroit with two goals and an assist. Draisaitl, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Sunday, scored Edmonton's first and last goal, adding an assist to Evan Bouchard between the two strikes. Draisaitl's dominant performance included a game-high seven shots on goal. With nine games played, Draisaitl sits on 10 points (six goals, four assists), but the 2020 Art Ross Trophy winner should still have a lot of room for improvement. He will enter Monday's juicy matchup against the Blue Jackets and their leaky defense with a six-game point streak.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoColorado Avalanche center Casey Mittelstadt served up three assists in Sunday's 5-4 win over Ottawa. He had an assist in each period, making it back-to-back three-point games for himself. Mittelstadt has been very productive on the second line, posting seven goals and 12 points in nine games. However, he's also had a tough time on the defensive side of things, as Mittelstadt carries a minus-four rating for the season. Still, he's become a very useful fantasy asset and could have another big night on Monday when Colorado faces the hapless Blackhawks, who are giving up 3.44 goals per game.Source: ESPN
4 weeks agoOttawa Senators forward Claude Giroux kept his hot scoring run going with two goals in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Colorado. Giroux was a man on a mission all night, producing a game-high seven shots on goal, and he was finally rewarded for his efforts in the closing stages of the game. The veteran was kept off the score sheet in the first couple of games of the season, but he has put together a six-game point streak with five goals and four assists since then. Giroux has only had two longer point streaks since 2020-21.Source: ESPN

He's notched one goal in nine appearances while delivering 24 hits and winning 52.9 percent of his faceoffs. Givani Smith is expected to fill in for Dellandrea on Monday. So far this season, Smith has been limited to one appearance, logging 7:59 of action in an 8-3 loss to Winnipeg on Oct. 18. He produced a game-high four hits in the contest with one block.
