10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Alex Erickson led the team in receiving in a Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Erickson was targeted eight times, making seven catches for 98 yards. It's very telling of the Chargers season that Alex Erickson is the one leading the team in catches and yards in a Week 17 game against a division rival. They'll have one more game before the merciful end of the season with a Week 18 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs.Source: ESPN.com
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler continued his disappointing 2023 season with another nothing of a game in a Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Ekeler ran the ball 13 times, gaining 46 scoreless yards and losing a fumble. He had a long gain of just six yards and only caught one pass for four yards through the air. It's been the worst season of Ekeler's career, and he'll be a free agent after a season-ending Week 18 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Ekeler's days of being a starting running back are likely running out.Source: ESPN.com
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick didn't do much in a Week 17 loss to the Denver Broncos. Stick attempted 38 passes, completing 24 of them for 220 scoreless yards. He took one sack but added 31 yards on the ground with five carries. He didn't turn the ball over, but he also didn't do too much to move the ball, with the Chargers scoring just nine points on three field goals. The Chargers season will mercifully end next week with a meaningless game against the Kansas City Chiefs.Source: ESPN.com
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers pass-rusher Joey Bosa (foot), who remains on Injured Reserve due to a foot sprain, will not play in the Week 17 divisional contest against the Denver Broncos. Bosa returned to practice last Thursday but did not play in last Saturday's loss to the Buffalo Bills and won't return this weekend, either. The Bolts are officially eliminated from playoff contention and probably won't feel compelled to bring the 28-year-old Bosa back for their Week 18 regular season finale next Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. He has not played since Week 11. If he doesn't play again this year, Bosa will finish with 20 tackles, 6.5 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in nine games in 2023. Even though the Broncos are benching quarterback Russell Wilson for the next two games, the Chargers defense/special teams unit won't be on the streaming radar during championship weeks in fantasy.Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receivers Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (concussion) have been ruled out for the Week 17 contest versus the Broncos in Denver on Sunday. Allen will be missed his third straight game and can now be dropped by any fantasy managers in leagues that end in Week 17. There's a good chance neither wideout will play in the Week 18 regular season finale against the division-rival Kansas City Chiefs, either. With both Allen and Palmer out against Denver, rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston will get another chance to prove himself, with Jalen Guyton, Alex Erickson and Derius Davis also having expanded roles as pass-catchers for quarterback Easton Stick. Tight end Gerald Everett becomes a more enticing low-end TE1 for fantasy managers as well.Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim
10 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers defense is a risky but potentially solid fantasy option in Week 17 lineups. Just a few weeks ago, the Bolts allowed 63 points to the Raiders in one of the most embarrassing games in Chargers history, but then they came out against a strong Bills offense last week and allowed just 24 points while recording two fumble recoveries and an interception. With the Broncos benching Russell Wilson and going with Jarrett Stidham at quarterback, we could be looking at the lowest-scoring game of the week. There are certainly safer options on defense in most fantasy leagues, but there's a glimmer of upside with the Los Angeles crew this week.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker is a solid kicking option in a Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. Dicker had a huge Week 16 game, nailing five field goals and an extra point for a 20+ fantasy point performance. With the Chargers struggling to do much on offense, they're having many drives end up in field goal range but outside of the end zone, leaving "Dicker the Kicker" to do his work. He's a top-10 option at fantasy football's most variable position this week.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Jalen Guyton is not a good fantasy option in a Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos despite several injuries ahead of him on the depth chart. Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (concussion) are both questionable at best. In theory, that leaves Guyton as one of the top two wide receivers on the depth chart alongside rookie Quentin Johnston, but Guyton has made just six catches in his past five games, and the Chargers offense is among the worst in the league right now.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Gerald Everett could see a few extra targets this week in a Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. Everett has taken on a large role in the passing game in the second half of the season, and with wide receivers Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (concussion) both questionable to suit up at best, Everett could end up as the top receiving option for the Bolts. It's still a bad offense, possibly the leagues worst right now, but Everett has a decent floor and a little bit of upside, leaving him somewhere in the top-15 fantasy tight ends for this week's games.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Quentin Johnston is set for a possibly large offensive role in a Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. Johnston is wrapping up a very disappointing rookie season, but with Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (concussion) both questionable at best, the rookie could end up working as the WR1 this week. He hasn't shown much to make him a viable fantasy option in what will be the championship game in most leagues, but deeper leagues might want to use him as a lottery ticket if Allen and Palmer end up missing the game.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler is tough to trust in fantasy lineups in a Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. Ekeler was fairly efficient last week, but it only translated to 65 yards on the ground and 21 more through the air. He's only scored one touchdown in his last six games, and with the Chargers offense generally in shambles, it might be time to leave Ekeler on the bench to wrap up his most disappointing season to date.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick had the best game of his career in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills but still won't be much of a fantasy option in Week 17 when the Chargers take on the Denver Broncos. Stick kept the ball safe and did not commit any turnovers in Week 16 and even ran in a touchdown on his own, but was 23-of-33 for 215 scoreless yards through the air. Despite a good matchup against a burnable Broncos defense, Stick remains outside of the top-20 fantasy quarterbacks while attempting to lead what is now one of the worst offenses in the NFL.Source: RotoBaller
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receivers Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (concussion) both missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday, although they were seen doing agility work and running off to the side with trainers. Neither player is likely to face off against the Denver Broncos this weekend if they don't return to some form of practice on Friday. Allen has missed the last two games, while Palmer suffered his concussion in the Week 16 loss to the Buffalo Bills last Saturday. If both pass-catchers are unable to play this Sunday, the Bolts would be down to rookie first-rounder Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton and Alex Erickson as their three starting receivers. Tight end Gerald Everett would have an expanded role as well. Palmer has caught nine of 12 targets for 160 yards and one touchdown the last two games with Allen sidelined.Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper
10 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receivers Keenan Allen (heel) and Joshua Palmer (undisclosed) are working off to the side with a trainer during practice on Wednesday. Allen did the same all of last week before missing his second straight game on Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. Allen and Palmer are going to need to get back on the practice field with the rest of their teammates in the next couple of days in order to have a chance at playing in Week 17 against the Broncos in Denver on Sunday. If both Allen and Palmer are inactive this weekend, the Bolts would be down to first-round rookie Quentin Johnston, Jalen Guyton and Alex Erickson as their three starting pass-catchers. Palmer has been the biggest beneficiary of Allen's injury the last two games, catching nine of 12 targets for 160 yards and a touchdown in losses to the Raiders and Bills.Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim
10 months agoThe Washington Commanders signed running back Jaret Patterson to the practice squad on Tuesday. Patterson signed with Washington after being undrafted in 2021 and rushed 85 times for 344 yards and two touchdowns in 20 games. He was released during final roster cuts ahead of the 2023 season and spent time on the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad until his release on December 20. Brian Robinson Jr. (hamstring), Jonathan Williams (concussion), and Chris Rodriguez Jr. (foot) are all banged up, so Patterson adds much-needed depth to the Commanders' RB room.Source: Washington Commanders
