4 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs has looked good during training camp, with JJ Stankevitz of the team's website reporting that the wideout has received plenty of looks from quarterback Anthony Richardson. The 22-year-old had a decent rookie season, finishing with 68 catches for 771 yards and two touchdowns. He also ranked first on the team in missed tackles forced and yards after catch. With that in mind, Michael Pittman Jr. is the team's No. 1 wideout. However, Downs can climb the depth chart if he continues to build chemistry with Richardson heading into Week 1, making him an ideal late-round draft choice for fantasy managers looking to roll the dice.Source: JJ Stankevitz
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce saw his fantasy stock drop after the team selected former Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft. However, Mitchell has struggled early in training camp, and Pierce remains ahead of him on the depth chart. As it stands now," James Boyd of The Athletic wrote. "Pierce remains firmly in place as the Colts' third starting receiver." Pierce, a second-round pick out of Cincinnati in 2022, has racked up 73 receptions for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns in his first 33 NFL games. Given the quarterback situation for the Colts since he joined the team, it hasn't been a horrible start, but the franchise likely hopes Mitchell will eventually surpass him in the offense. As the potential No. 3 target in Indianapolis, Pierce has limited fantasy upside and should be considered a late-round best ball flier.Source: James Boyd -- The Athletic

4 months agoIndianapolis Colts tight end Kylen Granson has reportedly been impressive early on in camp. It looks like the Colts are having an open tryout for starting tight end with no real standalone star in the picture. At the moment, Granson has appeared to take an early lead in the running for starter, but there's still plenty of time left in camp. Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods are also candidates, but they appear to offer a little less upside. Over the last two seasons, Granson has hauled in 30-plus receptions and 300 or more receiving yards in both campaigns. His fantasy value is going to be dependent on how the Colts decide to use the tight end position next season.Source: 1075thefan.com
4 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts continue to rotate rookie wide receiver Adonai Mitchell and Alec Pierce with the starters and the second unit in training camp practices. Michael Pittman Jr. is the team's unquestioned WR1, with Josh Downs slated to operate as the No. 2, so as of right now, it looks like Mitchell and Pierce are competing for WR3 duties to open the 2024 regular season. Mitchell, 21, was the 52nd overall pick in April's NFL draft out of Texas and is a physical specimen with speed to spare. From a pure physical standpoint, Mitchell has much more upside than Pierce. It would be a surprise if Mitchell didn't earn the No. 3 job by season's end if Pierce starts the season in that role. Neither pass-catcher will probably be drafted in standard 12-team leagues, but in deeper formats, Mitchell is the better upside bench stash.Source: 107.5 The Fan - Kevin Bowen
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts veteran defensive end Samson Ebukam (Achilles) suffered a torn Achilles in training camp practice on Sunday, according to a source. Ebukam will now miss the entire 2024 season as a result. It's an early blow for Indy's defensive-line depth. The 29-year-old former fourth-round pick (125th overall) by the Los Angeles Rams in 2017 out of Eastern Washington was hoping to build off a career year in 2023 with the Colts in which he set career-highs in total tackles (57), solo tackles (39), sacks (9.5), tackles for loss (10) and QB hits (17) in 17 regular-season starts. Ebukam also forced three fumbles. He was projected to start off the edge for the Colts this year, so Indy will now be looking for someone to step up as a pass-rusher in his place this season.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said at training camp on Thursday that the team isn't going to limit second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) as a runner. "People ask this, too … 'Hey, are you gonna limit the run game?' And I kind of think like, 'Shoot, are you gonna limit Steph Curry from shooting 3-pointers. Well, that's one of Anthony (Richardson's) strengths. We're not gonna get away from that," Steichen said. General manager Chris Ballard said earlier this week that the 22-year-old former first-rounder will be full-go in camp after needing season-ending right-shoulder surgery after just four games played in his rookie season in 2023. Because of his playing style and ability to extend plays with his legs, Richardson is more injury-prone than some other QBs, but he also has elite upside. Despite having never played a full season, Richardson is going to a popular midrange QB1 target in fantasy drafts this fall.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
4 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts agreed to terms with wide receiver Laquon Treadwell on Wednesday. The Colts waived wide receiver Xavier White in a corresponding move. Treadwell had limited opportunities last season with the Baltimore Ravens, appearing in only five games and making one reception on three targets in a meaningless Week 18 game. Drafted 23rd overall in 2016 by the Vikings, Treadwell has yet to surpass 35 catches or 434 receiving yards in a single season. His career has been marred by inconsistency, having not played more than six games in a season since his modest career-best year with Jacksonville in 2021. With a receiving corps already featuring Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, rookie Adonai Mitchell, and Alec Pierce, Treadwell joins as a camp hopeful aiming to secure a depth role on the roster.Source: Indianapolis Colts
4 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard told reporters on Wednesday that second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) will be a full-go in training camp this summer. "I'm not expecting any limitations right now," Ballard said. This was the expectation all along after Richardson needed season-ending right-shoulder surgery just four games into his first NFL season in 2023. As long as the 22-year-old former first-rounder doesn't have a setback with his shoulder this summer and in the preseason, he'll enter the 2024 regular season as Indy's unquestioned starter under center with an extremely high fantasy ceiling, mainly because of his elite rushing abilities with the football in his hands. Even though he only has four games of experience in the NFL, Richardson is going to be expensive in fantasy drafts once the top tier of names at the position come off the board.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Ashton Dulin (knee) suffered a torn ACL during last year's training camp and has been limited this offseason, but he was seen working out and moving well in an Instagram post this week. This is a great sign for his potential training camp availability later this month. The 2019 undrafted free agent out of Malone University has hauled in just 33 passes for 450 yards and three touchdowns through his first 55 NFL games, but he was named a second-team All-Pro in 2021 for his special teams ability. Dulin is unlikely to see meaningful action as a wideout behind Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Adonai Mitchell, and Alec Pierce, so he can be ignored in fantasy football.Source: James Boyd -- The Athletic
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts defensive end Kwity Paye has not been an ultra-productive sack artist since entering the league as the No. 21 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Michigan, but his goal is to reach at least double-digit sacks in 2024. "I had (4.0) sacks as a rookie, (6.0) as a sophomore, and now 8.5 in my third season," Paye told the Draft Network's Justin Melo recently. "I definitely want to get at least 10.5 sacks this year. I'm really shooting for 12-15 sacks, but double digits is the goal at the end of the day. I have to get there this year." Paye has gotten better every season and is playing on a talented defensive front, so it's not out of the realm of possibilities. Through his first 43 NFL games, the 25-year-old has compiled 129 tackles, 18.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, and one pass deflection.Source: NFL.com
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce hopes to prove he's more than just a "deep threat." "I think there's a lot more to my game," Pierce said recently. "I just want to have the chance to be able to showcase that." The 24-year-old has displayed brief glimpses of promise in his first two seasons in the league, amassing 73 catches for 1,107 yards and four touchdowns in 33 games. Michael Pittman Jr. is the No. 1 wideout on the depth chart. However, Pierce seems eager to show everyone that he's more than a one-dimensional player, so he could be in line for his most productive season to date, especially if quarterback Anthony Richardson can play at a high level. He'll be competing for the No. 2 spot primarily with Adonai Mitchell, who the Colts selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.Source: Stephen Holder
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard said on The GM Shuffle podcast that second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder) will be "full-go" for the start of training camp at the end of July despite dealing with some shoulder fatigue during offseason activities. The shoulder soreness was something expected after Richardson had season-ending surgery on his right shoulder during his rookie season in 2023. Despite the fact that the 22-year-old former fourth overall pick played in just four games last year, his elite rushing abilities make him an attractive midrange QB1 going into his sophomore season. The 6-foot-4, 244-pounder also has above-average arm strength and has an incredibly high ceiling for fantasy managers if he can remain healthy. Once the elite names at the QB position come off the board in fantasy drafts, Richardson will be hard to pass up.Source: The GM Shuffle Podcast
