Trey Sermon To See A Starting Role Again In Week 6
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon ran the ball 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 5 loss. He also reeled in six catches for another 25 yards through the air. Sermon is slated to be Indy's lead back once again when they face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. Although he has replaced Jonathan Taylor (ankle) in his absence, running back Tyler Goodson has also seen a sizable role, getting five carries in the team's Week 5 loss. Sermon will face a tougher defense in Tennessee, as they have allowed the 11th-fewest fantasy points to opposing RBs this season. Given the tougher matchup and what could potentially be a split in opportunities with Goodson, Sermon doesn't make for a strong start in Week 6. Fantasy managers replacing Taylor can look his way, but he should otherwise be viewed as an RB3 option. He is currently the RB31 in RotoBaller's half-PPR weekly rankings.Source: RotoBaller
Evan Hull Signed To 53-Man Roster
6 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts signed running back Evan Hull from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster on Saturday with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) missing his second straight game due to a high-ankle sprain this Sunday against the division-rival Tennessee Titans. The Colts need extra RB depth this weekend behind Trey Sermon, who will be starting for the second straight week, and Tyler Goodson. The 23-year-old was on the active roster last week as well in the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars but didn't play a single offensive snap. The former fifth-round selection in 2023 out of Northwestern played in just one game in his rookie campaign and had one carry for one yard and caught his only target for a gain of six yards. Hull remains well off the fantasy radar and may only play if one of Sermon or Goodson get injured on Sunday against the Titans.Source: Indianapolis Colts
Trey Sermon Set For Lead-Back Duties Again
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon (collarbone) has been cleared to play in Week 6 against the division-rival Tennessee Titans and will serve as the team's primary RB for the second straight week with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) being ruled out. Sermon missed practice on Wednesday but was a full-go on both Thursday and Friday. The 25-year-old saw 10 carries for 38 yards and his second rushing touchdown of the year in last week's loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars, adding six receptions for another 25 yards. For the added volume alone with JT out again, fantasy managers should consider Sermon an RB3/flex this weekend. However, the matchup against the Titans on the road isn't nearly as good, as they've allowed the 22nd-most half-PPR points to opposing backs through five weeks this year.Source: Indianapolis Colts

Anthony Richardson Expects To Play
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) is expected to play in Week 6 against the Tennessee Titans barring a late-week surprise, according to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. Richardson suffered an oblique injury in Week 4 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was sidelined last weekend. This week, Richardson was able to log a limited practice session on Wednesday but was able to upgrade to full participation on Thursday and Friday, which suggests he should be in line to return to action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the weekend in case he faces a setback. Richardson has struggled to remain consistent throughout his young career and remains a high-risk, high-upside QB1 against the Titans.Source: Jeremy Fowler
Michael Pittman Jr. Questionable For Sunday
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Pittman did not participate in Wednesday's or Thursday's practice but was able to return in full on Friday which is a promising sign for his status for this weekend. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status ahead over the weekend. The USC product got off to a slow start this season but has tallied at least ten PPR points in each of his past two games with a a high of 17.3 in Week 4. If Pittman is able to suit up he should be viewed as a high-floor WR3 in PPR leagues.Source: Mike Chappell
Anthony Richardson Picks Up Another Questionable Tag
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) will be questionable to play on Sunday against the division-rival Tennessee Titans in Week 6. Richardson suffered an oblique injury in the Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and was questionable last week before sitting out in the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars. He's questionable again this weekend, but the fact that Richardson returned to a full practice on Thursday bodes well for his chances of returning. Steichen said earlier this week that the struggling Richardson will be the team's starting QB when healthy. If the 22-year-old is active, he'll be a shaky QB1/2 given his struggles so far in his second season and the fact that the Colts are without running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and could be without receivers Michael Pittman Jr. (back) and Josh Downs (toe).Source: FOX 59 - Mike Chappell

Trey Sermon Returns To Full Practice
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon (collarbone) was held out of Wednesday's practice but was a full participant just a day later on Thursday. Sermon was a popular waiver-wire pickup last week after Jonathan Taylor suffered a high-ankle sprain in the Week 4 win over the Indianapolis Colts. Taylor did not play in the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars, and Sermon took advantage as the lead back to record 10 carries for 38 yards and a touchdown while adding six catches for an extra 25 yards. Taylor has not practiced this week and appears headed for a second straight absence, which will put Sermon back into flex territory against the Titans. The 25-year-old won't have as much fantasy upside, though, against a Titans defense allowing the 22nd-most half-PPR points to RBs through five weeks. The impending return of quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) is also probably bad news for Sermon's rushing chances.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
Anthony Richardson A Full-Go In Thursday's Practice
6 months agoUpdating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson (oblique) was a full participant in Thursday's practice and was looking spry after being limited on Wednesday. Richardson injured his oblique in the Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and didn't suit up for the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars. With a full practice under his belt this week, the 22-year-old second-year signal-caller is trending toward returning for this Sunday's divisional clash with the Tennessee Titans against a tough secondary. However, fantasy managers shouldn't be looking to throw him immediately back into starting lineups if he's active in Week 6, especially if he's without running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and receivers Michael Pittman Jr. (back) and Josh Downs (toe). Richardson has been a disappointment through four games in 2024 as both a runner and a passer.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd

Trey Sermon Returns To Practice On Thursday
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Trey Sermon (collarbone) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) sitting out the Week 5 loss to the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars and not practicing yet this week, Sermon's status is worth watching closely. It's looking like Taylor is on track to miss his second straight game in Week 6 against the division-rival Tennessee Titans, so if Sermon gains clearance from his collarbone injury, he would once again operate as the Colts' primary running back this Sunday, with Tyler Goodson backing him up. The 25-year-old came through for fantasy managers that threw him in their lineups last weekend, carrying the ball 10 times for 38 yards and a score while adding six receptions for 25 yards. If Taylor is inactive and Sermon suits up, he'll be in play as an RB3/flex again against the Titans.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd

Michael Pittman Jr. Expected To Be Out Multiple Weeks
6 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) is expected to miss multiple weeks. The Colts have also suggested that Pittman may be placed on injured reserve. Pittman was a non-participant in practice on Wednesday and is listed as doubtful heading into this weekend. This is unfortunate news for fantasy managers as Pittman had just started to come alive. He had at least 113 receiving yards or a touchdown in his last two games. That may be attributed to the presence of quarterback Joe Flacco in the lineup rather than a struggling Anthony Richardson. However, it could be some time before fantasy managers find out if Pittman is able to build on that momentum. Pittman has recorded 22 receptions for 238 yards and a touchdown in 2024. For now, fantasy managers will have to stick him in their IR spot and hope for the best.Source: Adam Schefter
