Byeong Hun An Attempts To Get Off To Faster Start
Source: PGATour.com
Byeong Hun An has shown a troubling trend of late. The South Korean golfer has started out above par in three of his previous four opening rounds. Hun An, as a result, has been pressed into trying to play catch-up especially on courses that are ripe for more birdies. Yes, The Players Championship remains a daunting task for any golfer. However, a +2 for Hun An was a little underwhelming. Golfers need to get on the green and make putts. Averaging 30.13 putts per opening round is a recipe for disaster. Hun A keeps leaving multiple strokes on the golf course. Too many metrics rank 140th or worse in the early going including greens in regulation, scrambling, and strokes gained to putting. Hun An may still be an option to fade at the Valspar Championship. Use Caution For Jacob Bridgeman At TPC Sawgrass
Source: PGA Tour
Jacob Bridgeman is riding a hot streak in his last two events. He finished tied for second in the Cognizant Classic and T-15 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this past weekend. It's safe to say Florida is treating the 25-year-old very nicely. However, his game may not suit the TPC Sawgrass stadium course. His accuracy off the tee and average iron play may not play well in this week's event. He ranks 101st in driving accuracy, 174th in approach from 100-125 yards, and 173rd in approach from 125-150. He will more than likely be a hot pick this week with his recent play, but don't be surprised if he falls short and misses the cut. Try to avoid him in DFS formats this week. Nicolai Hojgaard Looks To Stay Consistent Heading Into PLAYERS Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Although Nicolai Hojgaard has played in only three PGA Tour events this year, he has made the cut in all three, with his best finish being eighth at the Mexico Open. He has also played two events on the DP World Tour and made the cut in both, with his best finish a T-24 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge. This will only be his second appearance at the PLAYERS, where he missed the cut in last year's event. Players must dial in play from tee to green to succeed at the stadium course. Hojgaard has been excellent with his irons gaining 1.054 strokes gained approach to green, which ranks third on tour. A typical distance at the venue is 100-125 yards, where he ranks 30th. He may not have experience in the event, but his game is suited for this course. He could be a great value pick at his $8,100 price tag on FanDuel this week.Karl Vilips Makes PLAYERS Championship Debut After First PGA Tour Win
Source: PGA Tour
Karl Vilips carded a final-round 64 at the Puerto Rico Open to claim his first career victory in just his fourth start on the PGA Tour. The 23-year-old now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship for the first time. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. Outside of his win last week, which doesn't have any ShotLink data available, Vilips ranks 40th in driving accuracy, 166th in strokes gained off the tee (minus-0.556 per round), 122nd in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.161 per round), and 27th in approach (0.537 per round). It's also worth noting that at the Puerto Rico Open, he hit the fairway at a rate of 62.5% and found greens in regulation 76.4% of the time. Vilips is riding high coming into the week, but historically, first-time winners tend to struggle the following week, so fantasy managers should carefully consider their options before including him in their lineups.Taylor Pendrith A Sneaky Play At TPC Sawgrass
Source: PGA Tour
Outside of his last two starts, Taylor Pendrith has been solid in 2025. He has three top-15 finishes and has made the cut in five out of seven events. While his showing was not great in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this past weekend, conditions were not ideal, and overall, the course played more challenging than usual. Making just his fourth appearance in the PLAYERS Championship, Pendrith has made the cut twice and fell short of it in last year's showing. Precision from tee to green is the key to solid play at the stadium course. He ranks 27th in driving accuracy, 4th in greens in regulation percentage, and 56th in strokes gained approach to green. His game has come into form, and it's possible to see him in contention over the weekend in the mix. Having him in your lineup in DFS formats this week wouldn't be a bad idea.Sahith Theegala Out Of Form Ahead Of The PLAYERS Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Sahith Theegala has struggled so far in 2025, recording just one result inside the top 35 in his seven starts this season. He now turns his attention to The PLAYERS Championship, an event he has played in three times, including a T9 finish here last year. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to excel from tee to green, with particular emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. Theegala ranks 133rd in driving accuracy, 128th in strokes gained from tee to green (minus-0.249 per round), 116th off the tee (minus-0.079 per round), and 116th on approach (minus-0.120 per round). He also ranks in the 56th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 100-150 yards, a range that accounted for 32.3% of all approach shots at Sawgrass last year. Given his recent form, Theegala is a player that fantasy managers should avoid this week.Matt Fitzpatrick A Shaky Play Heading Into PLAYERS
Source: PGA Tour
Thus far in 2025, it has been a relatively steady year for Matt Fitzpatrick. He has made the cut in four out of five events and has two top-25 finishes. His course history at TPC Sawgrass is as boom or bust as anyone in the field. In his eight times playing the stadium course, he has missed the cut four times, has two top-10s, and placed 41st or worse twice. The former U.S. Open winner has had trouble controlling his irons with a -.0162 strokes gained approach to green, ranking 162nd on tour. Solid short iron play and precision accuracy off the tee are essential to succeed at the stadium course. Trusting Fitzpatrick this week is tough, especially at his $9,300 price tag on FanDuel. Scottie Scheffler Eyeing Three-Peat At TPC Sawgrass
Although Scottie Scheffler gained strokes in nearly every aspect of his game at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his struggles with his putter -- where he lost 5.3 strokes -- kept him from climbing the leaderboard as he ultimately finished T11. Heread more...

Si Woo Kim Looks To Keep Building Momentum At The PLAYERS
Source: PGA Tour
With four top-25 finishes, Si Woo Kim has had a solid start to the 2025 season. This past week at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, he finished T-19. His best finish was at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, where he placed 12th. TPC Sawgrass is a venue where he has seen success with a victory back in 2017, where he won by three shots. The key to success at the stadium course is accuracy off the tee and precision with the short and mid irons. Kim ranks 24th in driving accuracy and 50th in strokes gained approach to green. After finishing T-6 in last year's PLAYERS championship, he is bound to contend again this week. He is a strong play in DFS at his $9,200 price tag. Denny McCarthy Looks To Continue Solid Play At TPC Sawgrass
Source: PGA Tour
Denny McCarthy has played very sharply in 2025. He has made the cut in every event he has played in, has four top-20 finishes, and one top-5. His best finish came at The Genesis Invitational with a T-5. He looks to carry his momentum into the PLAYERS Championship, where he has also made the cut in each of the five times he's started the event. However, he has only finished in the top 20 once, which came in 2023 with a T-13. He has finished 35th or worse in the other four starts. McCarthy hopes to change his fortunes with his driving accuracy and stellar iron play. He ranks 38th in approach to green and 67th in driving accuracy. Combined with his strong putting, which ranks 56th, he may find himself in contention this week and could be worth a flyer in DFS.Collin Morikawa Poised For Another Strong Performance At TPC Sawgrass

Robert MacIntyre A Risky Play With Upside At The PLAYERS Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Robert MacIntyre has started six PGA Tour events this year, making the cut in five, including four top-10 finishes. He now turns his attention to THE PLAYERS Championship, an event he has competed in twice, missing the cut in both 2021 and 2024. To succeed at TPC Sawgrass, players need to be solid from tee to green, with an emphasis on accuracy off the tee and on approach. MacIntyre ranks 15th in strokes gained from tee to green (1.044 per round), 21st in driving accuracy, and 55th in strokes gained on approach (0.338 per round). However, he has struggled in proximity from key distances, ranking in just the 28th percentile over the last 12 months in proximity from 100-150 yards, a range that accounted for 32.3% of all approach shots at Sawgrass last year. While MacIntyre carries some risk due to his history at this event, fantasy managers should consider him at his $8,300 price tag on DraftKings.Jordan Spieth Looking To Change Fortunes At TPC Sawgrass
Source: PGA Tour
Jordan Spieth has had a primarily boom-or-bust 2025 season. He has only played in four events, finished top-10 in two of them, T-69, and missed the cut. Coming off of wrist surgery, Spieth's game looks much improved from last season, and he is starting to revive parts that have failed him over the previous several years—he ranks 55th on tour in strokes gained putting and 54th in strokes gained off the tee. The downside for this week is his less-than-mediocre course history at TPC Sawgrass and his below-average iron play. He's missed the cut six times in his 10 starts at the stadium course, and his last top-10 finish was in 2014, his first start in the event. Spieth is a risky play this week in DFS.Avoid Cameron Young At The PLAYERS Championship
Source: PGA Tour
Cameron Young has struggled mightily so far in the 2025 season. He has only one top-10 finish and has missed the cut three times in the six events he has played in. Adding more salt to the wound is the fact that he has not finished better than 51st at the stadium course in his three appearances. Young's iron play has failed him this year with -1.018 strokes gained on approach, ranking 176th on tour. The key to success at TPC Sawgrass is driving accuracy and short iron play, and Young has succeeded at neither this season. To put it in perspective, he ranks 168th in driving accuracy, 133rd from 125-150 yards, and 122nd from 150-175 yards. It's safe to say it's not even worth taking a flyer on Young this week; avoid him at all costs.
