2 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings right wing Patrick Kane (upper body) will be back in action on Thursday against Ottawa. The American star will return from a five-game absence. Kane has struggled for productivity this season, going scoreless in each of his last five appearances. He's totaled 10 points (three goals, seven assists) in 20 games for the campaign. We should see Kane on the second line with J.T. Compher and Alex DeBrincat and on the top power-play unit. Half of his points have come with the man advantage this season.Source: NHL
2 weeks agoNew York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov (lower body) has been labeled as day-to-day ahead of Thursday's contest against Seattle. The veteran netminder continues to nurse a lower-body injury. He was able to back up Ilya Sorokin on Tuesday versus Montreal but might have to exit the lineup on Thursday. The team has recalled Marcus Hogberg from the minors on an emergency basis. Sorokin is penciled in for his 17th start of the campaign Thursday. He's looking to improve a 6-6-4 record in a good matchup against a team that tends to struggle on the road and has gone 3-5-0 in its last eight games with 3.13 goals allowed.Source: New York Islanders
2 weeks agoVegas Golden Knights defenseman Shea Theodore popped up with two goals in Wednesday's 4-1 victory at Anaheim. He recorded the game-winning goal and had an empty-netter to ice the contest. With the effort, Theodore reached 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) for the campaign with 26 games played. This puts him on pace for his first career 60-point season. Theodore already has six multi-point games in 2024-25 and heads into Friday's big clash against Dallas in hot form. Through the last eight games, Theodore has produced seven points (two goals, five assists).Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoBoston Bruins left wing Brad Marchand recorded his second multi-goal effort of the season on Wednesday, lighting the lamp twice in a 4-2 road victory at Chicago. The veteran forward did the damage early in the second period, with Marchand's second goal of the contest ending up as the game-winner. Marchand remains among Boston's biggest offensive threats, but the 2024-25 campaign might end up being his first in 10 years with fewer than 60 points. He's on 10 goals and 10 assists through 28 games. The 36-year-old is also playing a less physical game, averaging fewer than one hit for the first time in five seasons.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews helped the team defeat Nashville 3-2 with a two-goal effort on Wednesday. He scored twice inside two minutes at the start of the second period to put Toronto up 2-1. Matthews recorded his 34th career multi-goal period, which is only one short of Jeremy Roenick's record among U.S.-born players. After missing nine games because of an upper-body injury, the Maple Leafs star has started to make up for lost time. In three outings since returning to the lineup, Matthews has posted three goals and two assists. He's now up to 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) for the campaign with the same number of games played.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoLos Angeles Kings winger Warren Foegele produced two points, including the game-winning goal, in Wednesday's 3-2 victory over Dallas. He helped linemate Tanner Jeannot on the scoreboard with 4:40 played in the second period, and Jeannot returned the favor early in the third period. Foegele ended a nine-game goalless spell. He hasn't had much success offensively lately, but it's been a decent campaign for the 28-year-old in a middle-six role. Through 26 outings, Foegele has earned 13 points (seven goals, six assists). This puts him on track for a second consecutive 40-point season. Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks forward Trevor Zegras suffered a lower-body injury in Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Vegas. He was hurt early in the second period and had to be helped off the ice. Zegras might now face a third lengthy absence because of an injury in just over a year. He lost 31 games last season to a broken ankle and a groin injury. The 23-year-old has recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists) in 24 outings this campaign. Anaheim was already without Leo Carlsson (upper body) on Wednesday, so the top-six group has recently taken a couple of rough blows. The injuries might give Cutter Gauthier a chance to nail down a spot on a scoring line.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoCalgary Flames center Justin Kirkland underwent successful ACL surgery on Wednesday and will be out for the rest of the season. He sustained the injury last week in a game against Columbus and has been out for two contests. Kirkland finishes the season with eight points (two goals, six assists) in 21 games. Kirkland's absence gave Jakob Pelletier a fourth-line role in Tuesday's 3-0 win over Columbus. The 23-year-old has been a productive player on the AHL stage, but things haven't yet clicked for him in the big league. This season, Pelletier has amassed 19 points (three goals, 16 assists) in 20 outings in the minors.Source: Calgary Flames
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jake McCabe (upper body) will remain sidelined on Wednesday against Nashville. McCabe missed his first game of the season on Monday versus Chicago after a puck hit him in the side of the head in Saturday's matchup against Tampa Bay. Philippe Myers stepped into the lineup as McCabe's replacement. Myers performed well in Monday's 4-1 win, as he recorded an assist with four shots, one block, and seven hits, but fantasy managers should not expect a repeat of the performance on Wednesday. Myers hasn't previously been productive at this level.Source: Mark Masters
2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks defenseman Cam Fowler (upper body) will return to the lineup on Wednesday against Vegas. The veteran has missed a month of action due to an upper-body injury. Fowler's return will send Pavel Mintyukov to the press box as a healthy scratch. Having earned his lone points via two assists in 12 appearances this season, Fowler has been a disappointment for fantasy managers. The Ducks will need a lot more from him going forward. Fowler will join Radko Gudas on the first defensive pairing for Wednesday's game.Source: Derek Lee
2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks center Leo Carlsson (upper body) will miss a fourth straight game on Wednesday versus Vegas. Carlsson has contributed six goals and five assists in 20 games this season. Mason McTavish is set to continue as the first-line center on Wednesday. He's yet to find his feet after returning from an upper-body injury, posting one assist in four appearances with a minus-four rating. McTavish is capable of much more, as shown by his season total of nine points (two goals, seven assists) in 17 outings.Source: Derek Lee
2 weeks agoMinnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin (upper body) is out week-to-week. He has missed four games with an upper-body injury, and apparently, Brodin's return isn't imminent. The Swedish rearguard is a defensive workhorse for the Wild, having collected eight points (two goals, six assists) in 19 games with 35 shots and 45 blocks. Newly acquired David Jiricek might get an extended look in the lineup during Brodin's absence. He's yet to make his Wild debut after the team picked him up from Columbus in a trade on Nov. 30.Source: Minnesota Wild PR
2 weeks agoMinnesota Wild center Joel Eriksson Ek (lower body) is considered week-to-week. He was injured in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win against Vancouver. Eriksson Ek's injury leaves the Wild without a second top-six forward following Mats Zuccarello's (lower body) exit from the lineup a while back. Marco Rossi should get extra responsibilities with Eriksson Ek out. He's riding a three-game point streak and has had a good campaign with seven goals and 13 assists across 25 outings. Jakub Lauko (lower body) may fill the open spot in the lineup on Friday versus Anaheim, although he's been out for four games and might still need time to recover.Source: Minnesota Wild PR
2 weeks agoDallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin will undergo hip surgery on Thursday, which will rule him out of action for 4-6 months. He's already missed five games this season, and it looks like Seguin won't return to the Stars lineup before the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs start. It's a shame because the veteran star was off to a productive start to the year. He has tallied 20 points (nine goals, 11 assists) in 19 appearances. Logan Stankoven has already built up good momentum during the season and will have additional fantasy value with Seguin out of the lineup.Source: ESPN
3 weeks agoFlorida Panthers winger Matthew Tkachuk was a one-man show against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, logging two goals and two assists in a 5-4 overtime loss. Tkachuk's effort included a three-point third period where Florida roared back from a 4-1 deficit. In just five minutes, Tkachuk recorded two assists and scored a power-play goal. Florida's star winger was fairly inconsistent in November but has now heated up nicely with a four-game point streak. It's his longest scoring streak since February. With 21 games played, Tkachuk has amassed seven goals and 23 points for the season.Source: ESPN
