2 weeks agoCalgary Flames right wing Anthony Mantha had his night cut short by a lower-body injury on Tuesday versus Montreal. Mantha was limited to 5:06 of ice time. The 30-year-old entered Tuesday's game with a three-game point streak. He has tallied four goals and seven points in 13 appearances while registering a team-high plus-six rating. Mantha has been an effective player for the Flames and will definitely be missed if he has to sit out additional time. Matt Coronato, who scored twice in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win, could land in a top-six role if Mantha is unavailable on Thursday versus Boston. Kevin Rooney would likely fill the gap in the lineup.

2 weeks agoColorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (undisclosed) didn't finish Tuesday's battle with the Kraken. According to Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar, Makar "tweaked" something in the second period. Makar has been in immense form to start the campaign and added two more assists to his tally in Tuesday's 4-2 win. He's the top-scoring defenseman in the league by a wide margin, having tallied 23 points (five goals, 18 assists) in 13 outings. If Makar can't play in Thursday's matchup against Winnipeg, Devon Toews will likely move to the first power-play unit, with John Ludvig or Oliver Kylington entering the lineup.

2 weeks agoSt. Louis Blues left wing Dylan Holloway was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a puck in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Tampa Bay. He was hit in the neck area with 2:37 remaining in the first period. Holloway managed to finish his shift but was then stretched away from the bench area. The Blues announced that Holloway was alert and stable. This was a scary incident, but it's great to know that the player appears to be fine. However, the Blues likely have to be without him for a bit. After signing an offer sheet to join St. Louis from Edmonton, Holloway has opened the 2024-25 campaign with six points (four goals, two assists) through 13 games. He's filled a top-six role lately due to Robert Thomas' (ankle) absence.

2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Flyers center Ryan Poehling (personal) will not play in Tuesday's matchup against Carolina. He has not joined the team for its three-game road trip, with Flyers head coach John Tortorella noting that Poehling is a little banged up and also currently dealing with a family situation. Poehling has been effective in a bottom-six role with the Flyers, recording five assists in 12 games while winning 50 percent of his faceoffs. His absence allows Nicolas Deslauriers to rejoin the action. He will make only his fifth appearance of the season on Tuesday. Deslauriers plays a physical game and has registered nine hits despite averaging barely over six minutes of ice time per game. Offensively, he's been limited to one assist with two shots on goal.

2 weeks agoNew York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will not be available on Tuesday against Pittsburgh. He remains day-to-day and will miss a second consecutive game. The Islanders have had a chance to use Romanov just once in the past five games as the Russian rearguard battles an upper-body injury. Adam Pelech (jaw) and Mike Reilly (upper body) are also out, giving Dennis Cholowski an opportunity to skate with Noah Dobson on the first defensive pairing. As a result of the injuries, we will also see Isaiah George make his NHL debut on Tuesday. George joins the lineup after posting two points (one goal, one assist) in four AHL appearances. He will link up with Grant Hutton on the third defensive pairing.

2 weeks agoOttawa Senators defenseman Artem Zub (concussion) will miss a ninth consecutive game on Tuesday against Buffalo. He rejoined practice on Monday, and there was a chance that Zub might be ready to jump back into action against the Sabres, but his comeback will be delayed for at least one more game. Zub's next chance to return comes on Thursday in a matchup against the Islanders. Jacob Bernard-Docker will likely have to make way for the Russian veteran in the lineup, while Travis Hamonic will be bumped down to the third defensive pairing.

2 weeks agoSan Jose Sharks center Ty Dellandrea (hand) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is poised to re-enter the lineup on Tuesday versus Columbus. The 24-year-old has missed four games with a hand injury. Dellandrea has been limited to one goal in nine appearances in a bottom-six role. He currently holds no fantasy value, but Dellandrea will be a useful addition to the Sharks lineup as a player who can win faceoffs on a consistent basis. This season, he has won 52.9 percent of his duels at the dot. With Macklin Celebrini (hip) also back in the lineup, San Jose has sent Daniil Gushchin and Ethan Cardwell down to the minors.

Walman recently erupted for seven points in three games, and he's been by far the most productive blue-liner on the team, but Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky has decided to sit him for Tuesday's game. Walman's work includes one goal and eight assists in 13 games this season. Jack Thompson, who has tallied three assists in six appearances, will re-enter the lineup on Tuesday. He will skate on the second defensive pairing and with the second power-play unit.

Point sustained a lower-body injury on Sunday versus Winnipeg and hasn't recovered in time for Tuesday's game. Point's absence will lead to a number of changes in attack for Tampa Bay. Nikita Kucherov and Brandon Hagel will skate with Anthony Cirelli on the first line, with Nicholas Paul moving to the second line. He will be flanked by Jake Guentzel and Mitchell Chaffee. The latter will replace Point on the first power-play unit. As a result of the changes, we will also see Conor Geekie drop back down to the third line.

Max Domi is set to take over the first-line center role on Tuesday. Domi has gone seven straight games without registering any points, but he will have a good opportunity to end the drought on Tuesday. He will skate with Toronto's top scorer, Mitch Marner, who is on a five-game point streak. Matthew Knies, who ranks second on the team with six goals, completes the top-line trio.

Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has confirmed that Lehkonen will play after he was activated from Injured Reserve. The Finnish forward joined Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen on the top line in Monday's practice. He has averaged 0.75 points per game in Denver and will be well-placed to make an immediate impact on Tuesday, playing with forwards who have combined for 35 points this season.

2 weeks agoNew York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin will get the nod for Tuesday's matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He'll look to bounce back from Sunday's 5-3 defeat to the Rangers, where Sorokin surrendered four goals on 39 shots. The result dropped Sorokin's record to 3-3-1. He has struggled to deliver wins for fantasy managers despite posting a good 2.29 goals-against average with a .922 save percentage. Squaring off against Sidney Crosby's crew isn't a great spot for any goalie, either. Sorokin has gone 8-5-0 in his career against the Penguins, allowing 3.21 goals with a .908 save percentage.

2 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils goaltender Jake Allen stopped 31 shots to pick up his second shutout of the season in Monday's 3-0 victory against Edmonton. Allen became the third goalie in franchise history to record multiple shutouts within his first five games of a season. He joined Ottawa's Anton Forsberg as the second netminder in the league to keep multiple clean sheets in 2024-25. Jacob Markstrom also boasts one shutout, giving New Jersey a league-high three shutouts in total. The team has been impressive at the back and both goalies deserve plaudits. Allen improved to 3-1-1 on Monday and has recorded a 2.60 goals-against average with a .904 save percentage.

2 weeks agoNew Jersey Devils winger Jesper Bratt recorded two points as the team defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-0 on Monday. Stefan Noesen scored early in the game off assists by Bratt and Paul Cotter, and the Swedish forward himself was on target late in the second in a power-play situation. Bratt became a point-per-game player last season and has carried that form into the new campaign. With 15 games played, Bratt sits on three goals and 12 assists. The opposition has held him off the score sheet just three times all season. A favorable set of games against Montreal, the Islanders, and San Jose positions Bratt well to keep up his form throughout the week.

2 weeks agoLos Angeles Kings forward Adrian Kempe led the offense in Monday's 3-0 win over Nashville, registering a goal and an assist. He collected a helper in the first period when Anze Kopitar opened the scoring and lit the lamp himself late in the game with the Predators net empty. Kempe logged his third multi-point outing in five games. He has managed five such efforts across the entire campaign, amassing 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 13 outings. However, Kempe has landed on the score sheet in back-to-back games just once in 2024-25, so he's not been very consistent with his work.
