2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (elbow, calf) is officially inactive for Week 3 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the wrong direction after missing practice on Friday. The 25-year-old entered this season as the Chargers' WR1 but has been relatively underwhelming, catching just four passes for 34 yards through two games. In his absence, Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston should fetch more targets from Justin Herbert. McConkey is the overall WR41 in fantasy football so far while Johnston is the WR24. Both players have low-end WR3/FLEX appeal this week, with Johnston possessing more big-play upside.Source: Daniel Popper
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) is officially active for Week 3 against the Pittsburgh Steelers and will start under center, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Herbert, who has 274 passing yards, three touchdowns, and one interception this season, was questionable with a high-ankle sprain. The Chargers took the decision up until the final minute in order to evaluate the quarterback's injury pregame. In the end, he's suiting up. However, the Chargers are carrying three active quarterbacks (Herbert, Easton Stick, and Taylor Heinicke) for the first time this season, which means they have a contingency plan in case Herbert isn't able to play the full game. Fantasy managers should treat him as a low-end QB2 this week.Source: Ian Rapoport
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick could be asked to start under center during Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The team is preparing to start Justin Herbert (ankle), but they haven't made a final decision. If Herbert sits, the Chargers plan to use some strategy that involves both Stick and veteran quarterback Taylor Heinicke. This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen against a tough Steelers defense. Stick threw for 1,129 passing yards with three touchdowns and one interception in five games (four starts) with the Chargers last season. The former fifth-round pick seems like a capable backup, but is not a recommended fantasy option if Herbert is unable to play.Source: Pro Football Reference
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) is preparing as though he will play in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. However, Herbert is still viewed as a game-time decision as the Chargers want to evaluate him further during pregame warmups. The former first-round pick has completed 31 of 46 passes for 274 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception this year. He also has 24 rushing yards and a lost fumble. Herbert ranks as a mid-to-low fantasy QB1 if he suits up. In the event that his high-ankle sprain is too much to play through, the Chargers would turn to either Easton Stick or Taylor Heinicke.Source: Adam Schefter

2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (elbow, calf) didn't practice on Friday. That's three straight absences for the wideout, who is now considered questionable for Sunday's meeting with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 24-year-old was in line to be the top wideout in Los Angeles entering the 2024-25 campaign. However, he's caught just four of his six targets for 34 yards in the Bolts' first two contests. With that in mind, Palmer isn't an ideal fantasy option in any fantasy format for Week 3 if he's active. That's not expected to change anytime soon, especially with Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey playing as well as anyone could hope.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Hayden Hurst (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity on Wednesday and Thursday. However, he logged a full session on Friday and was removed from the injury report ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Despite playing more snaps than Will Dissly through the first two games of the 2024-25 campaign, the latter has been more productive. Still, neither play will find a home in fantasy lineups for Week 3 due to their lack of statistical output. That will be even more true if Justin Herbert (ankle), who is questionable, isn't active.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) has been officially listed as questionable to play this Sunday in Week 3 on the road against the 2-0 Pittsburgh Steelers. Herbert said on Friday that he suffered a high right-ankle sprain in the Week 2 win over the Carolina Panthers, although he did return to practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday. High-ankle sprains can keep players out for multiple weeks, so although Herbert has a high tolerance for pain, he could seriously be in danger of sitting out this weekend, which would be really bad news for the Bolts offense as they look to go 3-0. If Herbert doesn't gain clearance to play, Easton Stick would likely be under center, and the Chargers would most likely lean even more on running backs J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards. A banged-up Herbert would be more of a low-end QB2 in fantasy if he's active on Sunday.Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim
2 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers defense/special teams unit is a solid choice in Week 3 fantasy lineups when the Chargers face the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road. The Bolts defensive unit put up 14 fantasy points in Week 1 and followed that up with 11 in Week 2. They've allowed just 13 points so far this season while recording six sacks, two interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. They've been a top-six fantasy defense both times and have that same upside this time in what is expected to be one of the lowest scoring games of the week. They're certainly worth starting and are still available on a lot of league's waiver wires.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker is a solid choice like usual for Week 3 fantasy lineups when the Chargers face the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dicker has put up 22 fantasy points through the first two weeks, making all five of his field goals and three of his four extra points. The missed extra point was the first of his NFL career. The Chargers-Steelers game is expected to be one of the lowest scoring games of the week, but with touchdowns likely hard to come by, the kicking game could play a big role in the final score. Dicker is a top-12 option in leagues that still start kickers.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston had a big game in Week 2, but he'll draw a much tougher challenge in a Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Johnston is currently the overall WR24 in fantasy, fueled largely by his two touchdown performance last week against the Carolina Panthers. He's been the clear WR1 on the Chargers offense and often the first read for quarterback Justin Herbert, but the underlying numbers haven't been pretty. Johnston is showing much better hands this season, but he's still just 78th in separation and 81st in route win rate, both out of just 92 qualifying receivers. He'll draw coverage from either Joey Porter Jr. or Donte Jackson this week, both of whom have been extremely stingy against opposing wide receivers.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer (knee) is not a good fantasy option for a Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Palmer missed practice on Wednesday and was working off to the side of the field on Thursday, leaving his status for Sunday's game as questionable at best. Even if he does play, Palmer will likely draw coverage from Joey Porter, Jr. Coming into the season, Palmer was expected to fill the WR1 role in the Los Angeles offense, but he has quickly fallen behind Quentin Johnston and Ladd McConkey in the first two games. Add to that the fact that this is clearly going to be a run-first offense, and it's hard to have a ton of faith in Palmer as a fantasy starter.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey has a good matchup in a Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. McConkey scored a touchdown in his NFL debut in Week 1 but followed that up with a quiet performance in Week 2 in which he scored just 3.6 fantasy points. This week, he'll likely run most of his routes against Beanie Bishop Jr., who has allowed a passer rating of 143.2 when targeted. Either Joshua Palmer (knee) or Quentin Johnston will be shadowed in coverage by Joey Porter Jr., so more throws could end up going McConkey's way. He's a WR3 with some upside, and with a definite boost in value in PPR leagues.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards is a touchdown-dependent fantasy option in a Week 3 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Edwards has put up two fairly similar games in terms of production so far this season, and is likely to do more of the same. He has not yet broken out for an explosive play nor has he forced a missed tackle, but the Chargers offensive line is providing him with plenty of room to run. He's played on 47% of the offensive snaps in the red zone, and he's always a threat to punch in a short touchdown at the goal line. Still, his value depends almost solely on finding the end zone, making him a risky FLEX play albeit one with some upside.Source: RotoBaller
2 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins is set for another strong performance in a Week 3 matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dobbins is the overall fantasy RB4 through the first two weeks of the season, and several statistics show that it's not just a fluke. He ranks first in the NFL in explosive run rate and missed tackles forced per attempt. He's 12th in the league in yards after contact, and the Chargers offensive line has been excellent in opening up running lanes, with the Chargers offense tops in the league in yards before contact in the running game. The Steelers defense is solid over all, but has been just about average against running backs through the first two weeks of the season. Dobbins is a high-end RB2 with clear upside.Source: RotoBaller
