3 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers left-hander Blake Snell (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing until Monday, according to manager Dave Roberts. It's just rest, though, and there is no planned medical intervention. An MRI exam on Snell's left shoulder recently only showed inflammation, which led the 32-year-old veteran southpaw to say that he was hoping for a minimal stay on the injured list. However, there's no current timetable for his return to L.A.'s starting rotation, and we won't have a better idea on when he might return until he resumes throwing. In the meantime, the Dodgers will roll with a six-man starting rotation that will now include left-hander Justin Wrobleski and right-hander Landon Knack. Of the two, Knack is the more attractive deep-league/DFS streamer when he makes his first start against the Nationals on Wednesday. Snell should be stashed in all fantasy formats.Source: MLB.com - Sonja Chen
3 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack will be recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to make the start on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals at Nationals Park, according to manager Dave Roberts. The Dodgers are moving to a six-man starting rotation with lefty Blake Snell (shoulder) on the injured list, meaning that both Knack and lefty Justin Wrobleski, who is starting Tuesday's game, should see multiple starts to close out the season's first month. The 27-year-old Knack makes for an interesting DFS and deep-league streamer immediately this week. He tossed two scoreless innings in relief in Tokyo, Japan, against the Chicago Cubs in mid-March and was impressive in his rookie year in 2024, posting a 3.65 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, one save, 69 strikeouts and 18 walks in 69 innings pitched. The former second-rounder has allowed two earned runs with five K's in 4 2/3 relief innings at Oklahoma City this year.Source: The Athletic - Fabian Ardaya
3 days agoThe Colorado Rockies officially announced on Tuesday that they recalled outfield prospect Zac Veen from Triple-A Albuquerque after optioning outfielder Jordan Beck to Albuquerque on Monday. Veen is starting in right field and batting seventh in his major-league debut on Tuesday against Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta at Coors Field. The 23-year-old is considered the Rockies' No. 8 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he should receive regular playing time in the outfield, making him worth a look off the waiver wire in deep-mixed fantasy leagues. The former first-rounder (ninth overall) in 2020 looked good in spring training and went 12-for-31 with a homer and eight RBI in his first eight games with Albuquerque before his call-up. Veen will have a tough first big-league matchup against the veteran Peralta.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez is out of the starting lineup for the first time this season on Tuesday against the division-rival Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. Gimenez got off to a fast start offensively in his first year in Toronto with three home runs and eight RBI, but he has just one hit in his last 13 at-bats to drop his early-season average to .231 (9-for-39). Expect the 26-year-old to be back in the lineup on Wednesday. Davis Schneider will take over at the keystone on Tuesday and will hit sixth against Red Sox left-hander Garrett Crochet. Schneider won't be a recommended DFS play, as he's facing a tough left-hander and is still searching for his first hit in 2025 after going hitless in his first 13 plate appearances over seven games with six strikeouts. He's gone hitless in three career at-bats against Crochet.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoMinnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Willi Castro and outfielder Matt Wallner are taking a seat on Tuesday against the division-rival Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium with left-hander Cole Ragans on the mound. Mickey Gasper will start at second base and bat ninth, while Harrison Bader is starting in right field and batting eighth in the lineup. This will be the 27-year-old Castro's first day off of the season after starting each of the club's first 10 games. He's gone 8-for-34 with a homer, four doubles, four RBI and a steal in 39 plate appearances. Wallner has been better as the team's primary leadoff hitter so far in 2025, batting .303/.410/.485 with four doubles, a triple, an RBI and five runs scored. Although Bader has hit .296 (8-for-27) with three homers and nine RBI early on, he'll be a low-upside DFS play on Tuesday. He has a hit in just two career at-bats versus Ragans.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoBoston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas and outfielder Wilyer Abreu will take a seat on Tuesday against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays and left-hander Easton Lucas at Fenway Park. Romy Gonzalez will make the start at first base and bat seventh, while Rob Refsnyder is starting in right field and is batting cleanup for the BoSox. Casas has gotten off to a slow start this year, going 7-for-39 (.179) with a homer, two doubles, three RBI and 13 K's in 11 games played. Abreu has been excellent, slashing .424/.537/.788 with a 1.324 OPS, three homers, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored and a steal in 33 at-bats. Refsnyder, although he's never faced Lucas in his career, has been known as a lefty killer and will be the more attractive DFS sleeper for Tuesday's slate. In his career, the South Korean outfielder has hit .278 with 15 of his 24 home runs against lefties.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers recalled left-hander Justin Wrobleski from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, and he will make the start against the hosting Washington Nationals at Nationals Park. Right-hander Matt Sauer was optioned to Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. The 24-year-old southpaw will be making his first start of the 2025 season and just the seventh of his career after he debuted in the big leagues with the Dodgers in 2024. With lefty Blake Snell (shoulder) on the injured list, it's possible that Wrobleski will make more starts beyond Tuesday's outing. He was inconsistent last year with a 5.70 ERA (6.36 FIP) and 1.38 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and 16 walks in 36 1/3 innings over eight total appearances. Wrobleski looked good in his first start at Oklahoma City this year, tossing 5 2/3 scoreless innings. He could end up being a nice streaming sleeper.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals outfielder Lars Nootbaar will take his first day off of the season on Tuesday against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Michael Siani will replace him in center field and will hit eighth in the batting order against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Nootbaar has gotten off to a nice start in 2025, batting .302 (13-for-43) with two homers, a double and six RBI in 10 games, but he has just one hit in his last 14 at-bats. Siani has started the year by going 1-for-4 with two runs scored, a walk and two strikeouts in his nine appearances. The 25-year-old left-handed hitter will be a poor DFS option in the eight-hole against one of the best young arms in the game in Skenes. Siani has faced Skenes seven times in his career and is hitting .143 with a .429 OPS.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoAtlanta Braves starting pitcher Reynaldo Lopez (shoulder) will not throw for 12 weeks. Lopez underwent arthroscopic shoulder surgery on Tuesday, which was described as a "clean-up" procedure. The team hopes Lopez will be available to pitch late in the season. During his first start of the season, Lopez logged five innings of work and allowed three earned runs. He struck out one batter and served up two walks. He enjoyed an impressive debut season in Atlanta in 2024 as he posted a stellar 1.99 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP. He tallied 148 punchouts across 135 2/3 innings. Fantasy managers in deeper NL-only leagues should continue to hold Lopez on an IL spot on their roster. With Lopez exiting the rotation, Spencer Strider (elbow) will likely take his spot once he is cleared to return to the majors.Source: David O'Brien
3 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (illness) is returning to the starting nine on Tuesday evening when they continue a series against their NL Central rival, the Pittsburgh Pirates. Arenado was unable to play in the series opener on Monday due to an illness. However, Arenado will return quickly to the starting nine, suggesting the injury was not serious. Through his first six games of the campaign, the 33-year-old has posted a stellar .371/.463/.543 slash line with three doubles and one home run. During this impressive start, he has held a 7.3 percent strikeout rate with a 14.6 percent walk rate. He will cover the hot corner and bat cleanup. Despite his strong start, he is not worth targeting in DFS facing right-hander Paul Skenes.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoLos Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith is not in the starting nine when they continue a series against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday evening. Smith has started in each of the past two contests. During this two-game stretch, he has tallied three hits with two RBI. Instead, the Dodgers will have Austin Barnes behind the dish and bat in the nine-hole. Through 11 games this season, Smith has posted an impressive .400/.550/.567 slash line with two doubles and one home run. Fantasy managers should expect the 30-year-old to return to the starting nine on Wednesday when he faces Washington right-hander Jake Irvin. Barnes is not worth targeting in DFS this evening, facing right-handed pitcher Brad Lord.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoThe Texas Rangers have activated third baseman Josh Jung (neck) off the 10-day injured list prior to their contest on Tuesday evening against the Chicago Cubs. In a corresponding move, the Rangers optioned Ezequiel Duran to Triple-A Round Rock. Jung was able to start in the first two games of the campaign but then hit the injured list due to neck spasms. He was dealing with them during camp, but attempted to play through them. However, the 27-year-old will return to action very quickly after not missing much time. Through his first two games of the campaign, Jung tallied three hits. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor their starting lineup, but given that Jung was activated, he will likely return to the hot corner this evening. If he gets the nod, he is worth starting in deeper formats, facing Jameson Taillon, who has posted a 6.97 ERA through his first two starts.Source: Texas Rangers
3 days agoAtlanta Braves catcher Sean Murphy (rib) will make his season debut on Tuesday evening against the Philadelphia Phillies. Murphy will bat in the eight-hole and be behind the dish. He will have a tough task in his first start, facing Philadelphia ace Zack Wheeler. Murphy has been sidelined since suffering a fractured rib during camp. While he was sidelined, rookie Drake Baldwin was given the No. 1 job. However, with Murphy back in action, fantasy managers should expect him to operate as the clear top option in Atlanta, with Baldwin reverting to a reserve role. Last summer, Murphy struggled, as he posted a modest .193/.284/.352 slash line. However, in 2023, he was a valuable catcher in all formats, launching 21 long balls with a .251 average. He will look to rebound to his 2023 form on Tuesday night. He should be viewed as a high-end No. 2 catcher for the time being, but he should be faded in DFS facing Wheeler.Source: MLB.com
3 days agoLos Angeles Angels catcher Logan O'Hoppe is getting the night off on Tuesday evening when the Angels continue a series against the Tampa Bay Rays. O'Hoppe has started in each of the past four contests. During this stretch, he tallied eight total hits and went deep in each. He brought in eight runs and scored four. With O'Hoppe sitting out, veteran Travis d'Arnaud will get the nod behind the dish and bat in the six-hole. Fantasy managers should expect O'Hoppe to return to the starting nine on Wednesday when they face Rays right-hander Ryan Pepiot. Fantasy managers should continue to view O'Hoppe as a must-start No. 1 catcher in all formats, especially given his power surge. d'Arnaud is best to fade in DFS this evening, facing Shane Baz, who did not allow a run in his first start.Source: MLB.com
