4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Stone Smartt made five catches in a Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Smartt was targeted six times and his five catches were tied for the team lead. He ended up gaining 51 yards including a long play of 31. Smartt was a popular waiver wire addition this week after Bolts starter Will Dissly (shoulder) was confirmed out. With a quick turnaround ahead of Thursday Night Football coming up in Week 16, Smartt is expected to once again get the start at tight end and could have a similar game, putting him on the TE1/2 border.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) returned after missing one game and had a solid performance in a Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. McConkey was targeted seven times and made five catches for 58 yards and a touchdown. The rookie receiver had a big first half before the Chargers offense just fell apart completely after half time. Most importantly, McConkey seemed to make it through the game without making his injuries any worse. The Bolts have a quick turnaround as they'll take on the Denver Broncos on Thursday Night Football in just a few days.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie running back Kimani Vidal wasn't very involved in a Week 15 blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Vidal ran the ball three times for nine total yards and was targeted three times in the passing game, making two catches for 13 yards. The Chargers only recorded 11 rushing attempts in the whole game as offensive coordinator Greg Roman seemingly gave up on anything but quarterback Justin Herbert's arm. Vidal should have better games coming up as long as Gus Edwards keeps running like he's in quicksand and J.K. Dobbins (knee) remains on IR.Source: ESPN.com
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards didn't do much in a Week 15 loss to the Tampa Bay Bucs. Edwards ran the ball eight times, gaining 23 yards with a long gain of just eight. He was not targeted in the passing game. The Chargers essentially gave up on running the ball in the second half, but Edwards wasn't finding much room anyway. He remains a thoroughly touchdown-dependent fantasy option with very little upside.Source: ESPN.com

4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers offensive guard Zion Johnson (ankle) is questionable to return on Sunday versus the Bucs. The 25-year-old sustained an ankle injury. However, with the game presumably out of reach, he likely won't be back for the remainder of Week 15. Unfortunately, Johnson won't have much time to get healthy, considering the Chargers will meet the Broncos on Thursday night. The team certainly needs him out there, especially with Justin Herbert taking a beating of late. But if he misses time, Jamaree Salyer is the only healthy guard on the roster behind Trey Pipkins III.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. McConkey had been listed as questionable after logging three limited practices. The rookie underwent a pregame workout to confirm he'd be able to play. The Georgia product has caught 58 passes for 815 yards and four touchdowns this year, ranking as the overall WR22 in PPR leagues. He should continue to be started in most leagues this week.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
4 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers are optimistic that rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) will be able to play Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The rookie is questionable, did not play last week against Kansas City, and was limited in practice all week, but the team hopes his pre-game workout will clear him to play. McConkey is a high-end flex/WR3 if he goes, but managers should keep updated and have a backup plan. Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer figure to be the team's two best options if McConkey doesn't play.Source: NFL Network
4 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers placed wide receiver Jalen Reagor (finger) on injured reserve Saturday ahead of their matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In a corresponding move, the team elevated WR Laviska Shenault from their practice squad. It's unfortunate news for the 25-year-old, who has yet to live up to his first-round selection. He'll now be shelved for at least the next four contests. With only four weeks remaining in the regular season, this could be the last we see of Reagor this year unless the Chargers retain their pace and make a playoff berth. The fifth-year wideout's injury opens up some extra playing time for teammates Derius Davis and DJ CharkSource: Los Angeles Chargers
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle, thigh) practiced in full on Friday and was removed from the injury report ahead of a Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Herbert was listed with ankle and thigh injuries throughout the week, starting with a DNP on Wednesday and a limited practice on Thursday. A full practice on Friday got him off the injury report, though. Facing a Bucs defense that is in the top-10 in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks, Herbert is a solid lower-end QB1 option with some upside. Herbert's upside will be directly related to whether or not rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) is able to play.Source: Rotoballer
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Will Dissly (shoulder) is officially listed as out for a Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Dissly hurt his shoulder on the last play of the first half in Week 14. He was unable to return to that game and also could not practice at all this week. Despite all of that, head coach Jim Harbaugh said he does not foresee an IR stint for Dissly. Stone Smartt, who took over at tight end in the second half against the Chiefs, will move into the starting role and could be a viable fantasy asset in Dissly's place.Source: Rotoballer
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey (knee, shoulder) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday's Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. McConkey was questionable last week as well but was ultimately unable to play. It seems like the impressive rookie pass catcher may once again be a true game time decision, but he was able to get in three limited practices this week, which is usually a good sign. If McConkey sits, Quentin Johnston and Joshua Palmer will both see boosts in their fantasy prospects for this week. The Bucs defense struggles against opposing wide receivers, so if McConkey plays, he should slide into the WR2 rankings with some nice upside.Source: Rotoballer
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer could have a big role on offense for a second game in a row in a Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Last week, with Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) forced to miss the game, Palmer saw nine targets thrown his way, making six catches for 78 yards, leading the team in all three categories. If McConkey plays, Palmer's floor and ceiling both drop significantly, but if the rookie misses another game, Palmer could be in the WR2 conversation based on volume alone. The Bucs defense has allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing outside wide receivers, so Palmer would be in a good spot to thrive if he ends up playing with only Quentin Johnston and without McConkey.Source: Rotoballer
4 months agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston has a potentially wide range of outcomes for a Week 15 game against the Tampa Bay Bucs. Last week, with Ladd McConkey (knee/shoulder) forced to miss the game, Johnston ended up making five catches on seven targets for 48 yards and a touchdown. He ended up as the overall WR21 in that game and could be in for an even better performance this time if McConkey is unable to play. The Bucs defense has allowed fifth-most fantasy points per game to opposing outside wide receivers like Johnston, so he has easy WR2 upside if he ends up playing without McConkey. If McConkey does play, Johnston gets a ceiling downgrade, but still retains a decent enough floor to be in the WR3/FLEX conversation.Source: Rotoballer
4 months agoThe Los Angeles Chargers defense is a solid option for Week 15 fantasy lineups as the Bolts will take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Chargers faced the mighty (and incredibly lucky) Kansas City offense last week and held them to 298 total yards and just 19 points, scoring four fantasy points as a unit despite the difficult draw. Week 15 should be a slightly nicer matchup, although the Bucs have shown the ability to move the ball and score as well. Still, the Chargers defense is one of the stronger and better coached units in the league, keeping them in the top-10 ranked fantasy units for the week.Source: Rotoballer
