Michael Pittman Jr. Will Play In Week 11
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen said that wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) will play in Week 11 on Sunday against the New York Jets after missing the Week 10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Pittman has been dealing with a back injury for a while now, but it finally caused him to miss a game last week. The writing was on the wall for him to return this weekend, though, after he returned to a full practice on Wednesday. It's good news for the Colts' offense, but the 27-year-old pass-catcher will still be a shaky fantasy play with quarterback Anthony Richardson and his accuracy issues returning to the starting job. Additionally, the Jets defense has allowed the fewest half-PPR points per game to opposing receivers in 2024. Pittman has been outside the top-50 receivers in terms of average PPR points scored per game this season.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
DeForest Buckner Practicing In Full
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts defensive lineman DeForest Buckner (foot) put in a full practice on Thursday after picking up a DNP for the first practice of the week on Wednesday. Safety Julian Blackmon (shoulder) has been practicing in full this week, while linebacker E.J. Speed (knee) has put in two limited practices. Unless he has a setback on Friday, Buckner should be good to play on Sunday against the New York Jets while getting after quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The 30-year-old veteran missed Weeks 3-7 while on Injured Reserve but has been active the last three weeks, picking up nine solo tackles, two sacks, two tackles for loss and six QB hits. The Colts defense/special teams unit is a fade in fantasy this week against the Jets, but Buckner is certainly in play as a starting defensive lineman in IDP formats.Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan
Michael Pittman Jr. Practicing Again On Thursday
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) was back on the practice field for the second straight day on Thursday. Pittman has been dealing with a back injury for a while now and missed the Week 10 loss to the Buffalo Bills. However, he was listed as a full practice participant on Wednesday, signaling that he could return this Sunday to face the New York Jets, as long as he doesn't suffer a setback. It's good news for the Colts, but fantasy managers will justifiably have some reservations about starting the 27-year-old wideout this weekend, especially with struggling second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson getting his starting job back against a formidable defense. Pittman is Indy's WR1 when healthy, but it's led to only a 30-366-2 line through nine games in 2024. If he's active against the Jets, Pittman should be viewed as more of a touchdown-dependent WR3/flex. UPDATE: Pittman was a full-go again on Thursday.Source: The Athletic - James Boyd
Michael Pittman Jr. Practicing In Full
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (back) was listed as a full practice participant for the first walkthrough session of the week on Wednesday. It's a bit surprising that Pittman was a full-go on Wednesday after missing the Week 10 loss to the Buffalo Bills with a back injury that he's been dealing with for a while now. As long as the 27-year-old doesn't suffer any setbacks with his back injury later this week, he appears to be primed to play in Week 11 against the Detroit Lions on the road. However, he'll still be a pretty shaky fantasy option with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson returning to the starting role under center this weekend. Pittman is averaging just 7.1 half-PPR points per game in 2024 and has gone over 100 receiving yards in a game just once (back in Week 4). The emergence of Josh Downs as a more consistent receiving threat for the Colts hasn't helped Pittman's cause.Source: Indianapolis Colts
Colts Going Back To Anthony Richardson As Starting QB
5 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts are going back to quarterback Anthony Richardson as their starter over Joe Flacco for the Week 11 game this Sunday on the road against the New York Jets. Flacco took over for a struggling Richardson in Week 9 and has led the Colts to two straight losses, so Indy will go back to the fourth overall pick out of Florida from last year. The 22-year-old possesses elite rushing ability with his legs, but he's proven very injury-prone early in his career and has had even bigger issues with his accuracy as a passer. Based on his rushing ability alone, Richardson will have QB1 upside for fantasy managers in his return to the starting role this weekend, although the Jets defense isn't the greatest matchup. If you're in need of QB help in Week 11 and Richardson is available, consider scooping him up. Head coach Shane Steichen said Richardson will be the starter for the rest of the season.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
Tyler Goodson Records Touchdown Reception In Week 10
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts backup running back Tyler Goodson did not receive a single carry in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Bills, but found the end zone through the air on one of his two catches for a total of nine yards. It certainly perturbed Jonathan Taylor managers, as Taylor was one of the lone bright spots on offense for most of the day for the Colts, but alas, it was Goodson who found paydirt. Nevertheless, without an injury to Jonathan Taylor, the 23-year-old is not usable in most fantasy formats, especially not in Week 11 against a strong Jets run defense. The second-year pro did a decent job filling in for Taylor in Week 7 with 14 rushes for 51 yards and a score, so he could be considered a low-end handcuff.Source: ESPN
Adonai Mitchell Breaks Out In Week 10 Loss
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell capitalized on the absence of Michael Pittman Jr. in Week 10, snaring all six of his targets for 71 yards in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Bills. The six catches and the yardage total were both easily season-highs for the rookie wideout who had two catches or less in eight of nine games coming into Sunday. The Colts selected him in the second round of this year's draft and after this performance, another solid week could be in the cards for the 22-year-old should Pittman miss another week. It could be tough to replicate though in Week 11 as the Colts face the Jets in the Meadowlands next Sunday, a pass defense that has been superb at limiting production to pass catchers. The product out of the University of Texas should be on the WR4/5 map if Pittman misses another week.Source: ESPN
Alec Pierce Catches Four Balls, Scores In Week 10 Loss
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce caught two garbage-time passes on the Colts' final drive, including a 10-yard touchdown reception, giving him four catches for 81 yards and a score in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Bills. In Michael Pittman Jr.'s (back) absence, Pierce tied a season-high in targets with seven, and the TD was his fourth of the season -- although just his first since Week 5. As of now, Pittman is considered week-to-week, so keep an eye on his status, as that could again mean a few extra targets for Pierce in Week 11 should Pittman miss another game. Regardless, Pierce is always a threat to score on a deep ball given his speed, but in Week 11, the 24-year-old will have to do it against a strong Jets pass defense, putting him in the WR4/5 range again.Source: ESPN
Josh Downs Hauls In Seven Passes In Week 10
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts wide receiver Josh Downs led his team in targets and receptions in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Bills, hauling in seven of 10 passes thrown his way for 72 yards. While it was productive and what fantasy managers have grown accustomed to from him, it could have been better had he not dropped what would have been an easy score early on in the game. Still, it was the third straight game in which the former third-round pick has recorded at least nine targets and sixth time in eight games that he's reached that level, affording him plenty of opportunities for receptions and a solid weekly floor. The 23-year-old will have a more difficult task in Week 11 as the Colts take on a Jets defense that has been great at limiting fantasy points to opposing receivers. Downs likely projects as a fringe WR2 next Sunday so long as Joe Flacco remains under center.Source: ESPN
Jonathan Taylor Gains 100-Plus Rush Yards In Loss
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor rushed 21 times for 114 yards in Sunday's 30-20 loss to the Bills, tacking on two receptions for eight yards. While it was an overall good day for the 25-year-old back, 58 of his rush yards came on a single play with five minutes left in the first quarter, so he was held somewhat in check afterward. Also, to the dismay of fantasy managers, running back Tyler Goodson -- not Taylor -- was on the receiving end of a Joe Flacco touchdown pass despite not receiving a single carry in the contest. Nevertheless, it was the fifth time in the last six games Taylor has played that the former second-round pick has gone over 100 total yards. He'll be an RB1 again in Week 11 against a Jets defense that has yielded five rushing touchdowns in their last four games, including allowing James Conner to go over 100 total yards and a score in Week 10.Source: ESPN
Joe Flacco To Remain The Starting QB
5 months agoAccording to Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen, quarterback Joe Flacco will remain under center "until he says otherwise." With Anthony Richardson benched, Flacco threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns off 26-for-35 passing in Sunday's loss to Buffalo. However, he also tossed three interceptions, with one resulting in a pick-six. With that in mind, the signal-caller hasn't been terrible in his starts this season, so he should continue to have sporadic value in multi-QB fantasy setups moving ahead as long as he remains starting, including against the Jets in Week 11, even more so if Michael Pittman Jr. (back) can suit up after missing Sunday's contest.Source: James Boyd
Bernhard Raimann Questionable To Return
5 months agoIndianapolis Colts offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann (knee) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Bills. The Colts offense has struggled, with Joe Flacco already throwing two picks in the first half, one which resulted in the Bills defense taking it back for six. In the meantime, Matt Goncalves will presumably take over.Source: Nate Akins
Laquon Treadwell Elevated To Active Roster
5 months agoThe Indianapolis Colts elevated wide receiver Laquon Treadwell from the practice squad to the active roster for Sunday's game against the Buffalo Bills after the team ruled out Michael Pittman Jr. (back) for Week 10. It will be the first week that Treadwell has been active for the Colts in 2024, and he'll be unlikely to make any noise in fantasy as receiver depth for Indy. With Pittman inactive, Josh Downs should serve as quarterback Joe Flacco's favorite target, with Alec Pierce and rookie Adonai Mitchell also seeing more opportunities. Treadwell, 29, only played in five games last year with the Baltimore Ravens and caught just one of three targets for a 16-yard gain. The previous year he caught six of 10 targets for 42 scoreless yards in six contests with the Seattle Seahawks.Source: NFL.com
