5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers selected former USC running back MarShawn Lloyd with the 88th overall pick in this year's NFL draft, and The Athletic's Matt Schneidman writes that he could compete for the backup to new feature back Josh Jacobs in 2024. The Packers re-signed AJ Dillon this offseason, but he might not be a lock to make the final roster. The Athletic's Dane Brugler doesn't think Lloyd has the profile of a high-volume back, but he has the ability to spark an offense with his mix of patience, burst and promise as a pass-catcher. Green Bay may want to take some of the load off Jacobs -- in five seasons with the Raiders, Jacobs ranked second in the NFL in carries and rushing yards since 2019. Lloyd will at least compete with 2023 undrafted RB Emanuel Wilson for the No. 3 job.Source: The Athletic - Matt Schneidman
5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers selected USC running back MarShawn Lloyd with the 88th pick in the NFL draft. Lloyd is credited for having great acceleration and the ability to bounce outside the tackles. He averaged over seven yards per carry last season, which showcases his big-play ability. The 23-year-old ran for 820 yards and nine scores last season. Lloyd joins a running back room that just welcomed Josh Jacobs, which will limit his fantasy value early on, but he could grow into a part-time contributor over the course of his rookie season.Source: NFL.com
5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers selected offensive tackle Jordan Morgan from Arizona with the 25th overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft. Morgan started all 37 games at left tackle. He could move to guard if necessary but does possess the skills to make a smooth transition. The Packers added former Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs to improve on their 1,905 total rushing yards last season. Adding Morgan will hopefully provide a boost to those numbers and protect Jordan Love's blind side.Source: NFL.com
5 months agoFree-agent offensive tackle Andre Dillard signed with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, according to NFL insider Ari Meirov. The 28-year-old spent last season with the Tennessee Titans after four seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles. The former first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft struggled mightily with Tennessee, giving up a league-high 12 sacks despite playing the 65th most snaps among tackles (562). Either way, Dillard has exceptional athleticism from the tackle spot, so he'll get another chance to prove he belongs in the league with a third team.Source: Ari Meirov -- 33rd Team
5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers re-signed exclusive-rights free-agent running back Emanuel Wilson to an undisclosed deal on Monday. Wilson entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Fort Valley State in 2023 with the Packers and had 14 carries for 85 yards and caught four of five targets for 23 additional yards in seven regular-season games (zero starts) in his rookie campaign. Barring injuries to the team's running back room, the 24-year-old should be in line for a similar depth role behind backs Josh Jacobs and AJ Dillon in 2024, making him pretty useless to begin the year in fantasy circles. Wilson is currently the team's No. 3 RB, but that could change, depending on what the Packers do at the position in the upcoming NFL draft.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
5 months agoAccording to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is anticipated to earn a new contract. Not only that, his new deal is expected to make him one of the NFL's highest-paid signal-callers. Of course, there are details both sides need to work out, although more intense discussions may not come until after the 2024 NFL Draft. The 25-year-old had some rough showings during the 2023-24 campaign. However, he still ended the year by throwing for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. Love also led the Packers to the playoffs, with the team losing to the 49ers by three points during the NFC Divisional Round. While Green Bay's offense will look somewhat different come Week 1, Love easily has a top-10 fantasy upside, and it's also possible he will enter the elite quarterback conversation soon, assuming he hasn't already.Source: Jeremy Fowler
5 months agoThe Athletic's Bruce Feldman predicts the Green Bay Packers to take Alabama offensive tackle JC Latham with the 24th overall pick in the first round of the upcoming NFL draft. Feldman has the Packers trading up one spot from 25th overall with the Dallas Cowboys to get Latham, who stands at 6-foot-6 and 342 pounds with 35 1/8-inch arms and 11-inch hands. He's a giant specimen with a lot of experience and seasoning. Latham started the last 27 games for Alabama at right tackle but also could slide inside at the next level, if needed. "He's got some serious knock-back power with explosive hips and those meat hooks. He knows how to finish. I think he's a beast at right tackle," one coach said.Source: The Athletic - Bruce Feldman
5 months agoThe Green Bay Packers signed free-agent cornerback Gemon Green to an undisclosed deal on Wednesday, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. Green was originally was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants out of Michigan in May of 2023. However, he was released after training camp after being on the team's practice squad briefly. The 24-year-old had 71 tackles (49 solo), an interception and 15 passes defended in his college career with the Wolverines in 42 games (24 starts). Green was an All-Big Ten honorable mention from coaches and media in 2022. If he makes the Packers' roster at all in 2024 and plays in a game during the regular season, it will be his NFL debut.Source: Packers.com
6 months agoThe Green Bay Packers feel that they have a better grasp of where wide receiver Christian Watson (hamstring) stands after he underwent a body scan at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this offseason with the hope of preventing future flare-ups. Watson has battled hamstring injuries in both of his two seasons in the NFL, with the 6-foot-4, 208-pounder missing eight games in 2023, playing just 446 offensive snaps. It hasn't just been hamstring injuries for the 24-year-old, and he's played in only 23 games in his first two seasons to quickly develop an injury-prone label. But when healthy, he's caught 69 of 119 targets for 1,033 yards and 12 touchdowns, adding two rushing scores. There's intriguing upside given the nature of Green Bay's improving offense under quarterback Jordan Love, but Watson's durability makes him a risk/reward fantasy selection heading into his third year.Source: Packers.com - Wes Hodkiewicz
6 months agoThe Green Bay Packers signed free-agent kicker Greg Joseph to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to his agent, Brett Tessler. Joseph kicked for the division-rival Minnesota Vikings the last three seasons and holds the NFL record for game-winning kicks in a season (five) and the Vikings record for longest field goal (61 yards). The 29-year-old went 83-for-101 on his field goals and 112-for-124 on extra points during his time in Minnesota. In addition to Joseph, the Packers have last year's sixth-rounder, Anders Carlson, on their roster, but Carlson struggled mightily in his rookie season and could now be on his way out. Joseph finished the 2023 season as the No. 24 kicker in terms of overall fantasy points and should be on the streaming radar in 2024 with Green Bay.Source: Brett Tessler

6 months agoVeteran linebacker Eric Wilson is re-signing with the Green Bay Packers, according to PackersWire.com and his Instagram account. The 29-year-old has been in the NFL since 2017, spending time with the Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, and Houston Texans before joining the Packers in 2022. He is primarily utilized as a depth linebacker and core special teamer. Wilson has 108 games of NFL experience on his resume and has totaled 327 tackles, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, four interceptions, and nine passes defended in his career.Source: PackersWire
6 months agoThe Green Bay Packers re-signed cornerback Robert Rochell to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday, according to general manager Brian Gutekunst. In his first year with Green Bay in 2023, Rochell played in just nine games (zero starts) and recorded four solo tackles. He also suited up for both of the team's playoff games. The 25-year-old was a fourth-round pick by the Los Angeles Rams in 2021 out of Central Arkansas. He has started only five of the 37 games he's played in so far in three NFL seasons (two with the Rams), totaling 23 tackles (20 solo), an interception and two fumble recoveries. Rochell will return to the Packers in 2024 to provide both secondary and special teams depth.Source: Packers.com
6 months agoThe Green Bay Packers officially re-signed running back AJ Dillon on Friday. Dillon was originally selected by the Packers in the second round (62nd overall) in 2020 out of Boston College. He has played in 60 games (11 starts) for the team during the regular season and has compiled 2,428 yards on 597 carries (4.1 yards per carry) with 16 touchdowns while recording 86 receptions for 763 yards (8.9 yards per catch) with two touchdowns. The 25-year-old had a career-low 3.4 yards per carry in 15 regular-season games (six starts) in Green Bay in 2023 and failed to take advantage of Aaron Jones missing some time with injuries. Dillon missed the final three games due to a neck stinger, but he should be fully healthy for the start of the 2024 season this fall, where he'll be back as the No. 2 RB behind newcomer Josh Jacobs.Source: Packers.com
6 months agoFree-agent running back AJ Dillon is expected to re-sign with the Green Bay Packers on an undisclosed deal, pending a physical, according to sources. Dillon will return to the organization that selected him with their second-round pick in 2020 out of Boston College. The 25-year-old had more of an opportunity to pick up extra touches in Green Bay's backfield with Aaron Jones missing some time with injury, but he failed to take advantage of it and finished with a career-low 3.4 yards per carry on 178 rushing attempts. Dillon had a disappointing 613 rushing yards and only two touchdowns in 15 regular-season games (six starts). Jones is now in Minnesota, but Dillon will return to the Packers to play second fiddle to Josh Jacobs now.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
