2 days agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Ryne Stanek earned his first save of the season in the Mets' 2-0 win over the Marlins on Monday night. The Mets have won five straight games to improve to 7-3 on the season, but regular closer Edwin Diaz pitched in both Saturday and Sunday's one-run victories. To avoid going to him for a third straight game, manager Carlos Mendoza called on Stanek for the ninth inning. The 33-year-old righty had no issues, recording three straight outs, including a strikeout of Eric Wagaman. So far this season, Stanek has allowed one hit and two walks while facing 10 batters over 2 1/3 innings. He will return to his role as a setup man for Diaz, but it looks like he's next in line for saves when Diaz is unavailable.Source: ESPN.com
2 days agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitching prospect Max Rajcic tossed five shutout innings of one-hit ball in his season debut on April 6. Rajcic served up just one free pass in this outing and tallied four punchouts. On Monday, Rajcic was rewarded after this start as he was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week. The UCLA product spent the entire 2024 campaign at the Double-A level but struggled at times. Across 131 cumulative innings, he held a modest 4.33 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. He held a 44:131 BB:K and allowed 18 round-trippers. His first start on April 6 was a significant step in the right direction and could suggest the 23-year-old has begun to turn the corner at Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with the Springfield Cardinals, as he could push for a mid-season Triple-A debut.Source: MiLB.com
2 days agoSan Francisco Giants pitching prospect Carson Seymour was named Pacific Coast Pitcher of the Week. Seymour was sharp in his start on April 3. He tossed five shutout frames and allowed just two hits and one free pass. He struck out five batters. Seymour also enjoyed a strong outing in the season opener on March 28 when he logged four innings of three-hit ball. In that start, he tallied eight punchouts and allowed just one walk with no runs. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress at Triple-A, as he should be in the mix for his MLB debut later this summer. Last season, Seymour held a modest 4.82 ERA with a 1.57 WHIP across 134 1/3 innings of work with Triple-A Sacramento. If the 26-year-old continues to perform well, he could contend for an early MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
2 days agoCalgary Flames left wing Matthew Coronato found the back of the net in his second-straight contest on Monday evening. Coronato would find the back of the net in the third period to extend the Calgary lead to two goals over the San Jose Sharks. This goal would eventually serve as the game-winner. Over these previous two games, Coronato has logged five total shots on goal. However, before this recent scoring surge, Coronato was riding a five-game scoreless streak. During that skid, he logged just 10 total shots on goal and held a -5 rating. Through a career-high 72 games this season, the 22-year-old has scored 22 goals and added 19 helpers, with 14 of his total points coming on the power play. He will look to extend his scoring streak to three games against the Ducks on Wednesday evening.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoSeattle Kraken goaltender Joey Daccord stopped 28 of the 29 shots he saw en route to defeating the Los Angeles Kings on Monday evening. The Kings held the slight advantage in the shot total, but Daccord was able to lead the way. His lone mistake came in the opening frame to Quinton Byfield, who scored his 20th goal of the campaign. This outing also extended Daccord's winning streak to three games. During this streak, he has held a near-perfect 0.67 GAA with a .974 save percentage. However, in his last four games before this recent stretch, Daccord posted a much higher 3.25 GAA with a .893 save percentage. Through 54 total games, Daccord has posted a 27-20-5 record with a 2.60 GAA and a .911 save percentage.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal stopped 45 of the 47 shots he saw en route to defeating the Edmonton Oilers on Monday evening. The Oilers had more than double Anaheim's shot total, but Dostal enjoyed a career game. Dostal allowed the opening goal of the contest to Edmonton center Adam Henrique. His other blemish came in the final frame to Edmonton winger Jeff Skinner. This was also a much-needed bounce-game for Dostal as he allowed six goals on just 26 shots in his previous start against the Vancouver Canucks. This was the fifth time this season Dostal stopped at least 40 shots in a single game. With John Gibson (lower body) sidelined, fantasy managers should expect the 24-year-old to patrol the starter's crease for the remainder of the season.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoWinnipeg Jets goaltender Connor Hellebuyck stopped 14 of the 15 shots he saw en route to defeating the St. Louis Blues on Monday evening. This victory snapped St. Louis' incredible 12-game winning streak. The Jets dominated this contest, but Hellebuyck stood tall when called on. His lone blemish came in the second frame when Pavel Buchnevich would score his 18th goal of the campaign. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Hellebuyck as he allowed three goals in each of his previous two contests and took the loss in both of them. Before that minor skid, Hellebuyck carried a 4-0 record over his last four with a stellar 1.49 GAA and a .941 save percentage. The 31-year-old remains a high-end option in all formats during the remainder of the regular season.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoTampa Bay Lightning center Brayden Point scored twice and added a helper during their 5-1 victory over the New York Rangers on Monday evening. Point would tally the primary helper on Nikita Kucherov's opening power-play goal in the opening frame. Later in the frame, Point would score his first goal, on the power play as well. In the third period, Point would finish his evening with his second power-play goal. Over his previous nine contests, Point has been very productive on the scoresheet, scoring nine goals and adding four helpers. This is an excellent sign, as prior to this recent surge, Point tallied just one helper over his last six contests. Through 72 games this season, the 29-year-old has found the back of the net 41 times and added 38 helpers. He will look to stay hot on Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoLos Angeles Kings center Adrian Kempe (personal) exited Monday's contest against the Seattle Kraken early due to a personal matter. Before departing the contest, he logged just over 13 minutes of ice time and did not get on the scoresheet. He logged four shots on goal and added three hits. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. If Kempe were to miss the next contest, Trevor Moore will likely move up to the top forward unit and play alongside Anze Kopitar and Andrei Kuzmenko. Before Monday's game, Kempe was riding a four-game point streak. Through 77 games this season, Kempe scored 33 goals and added 31 assists. He remains a solid option in all formats when he returns.Source: NHL.com
2 days agoWashington Nationals right-hander Kyle Finnegan pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings to preserve a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. Finnegan struck out two while allowing one walk and two hits to earn his fourth save in as many chances this season. The veteran has been a consistent force at the back of the Washington bullpen in the early going, allowing just one run through 5 2/3 innings of work while striking out five. He appears to have a firm grip on the closer role in Washington, although it remains to be seen just how many save chances the Nationals afford him this season.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoBaltimore Orioles outfielder Ryan O'Hearn went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer in a 5-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. O'Hearn took Arizona starter Zac Gallen deep in the first inning to kick off the scoring in the game, giving him his first home run of the season. The veteran is off to a solid start at the plate this season, hitting .308 with four runs and one RBI through 26 at-bats. That being said, O'Hearn is going to need to produce more power to be considered as a regular fixture in fantasy lineups moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoSan Diego Padres second baseman Jake Cronenworth went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run homer in a 5-4 win over the Athletics on Monday. Cronenworth gave the Padres an early 3-0 lead with his first-inning two-run blast off A's starter Luis Severino, bringing Manny Machado around to score. The veteran infielder is off to a modest start this season, hitting .265 with two homers, seven runs, and five RBI through 34 at-bats. With four straight seasons of double-digit homers, Cronenworth is worth a spot in fantasy lineups in plus matchups. He will look to heat up at the plate moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoSan Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb twirled a gem in a 2-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Webb threw seven innings of shutout ball, striking out 10 while scattering four hits but had to settle for a no-decision after Cincy starter Hunter Greene outdueled him. Webb is off to a fantastic start in 2025, posting a 1-0 record, 1.89 ERA, and 21 strikeouts over 19 innings of work spanning three starts. The veteran hurler is a must-start in fantasy whenever he takes the mound, although he faces a challenge coming up as he is slated to face off against the New York Yankees on the road on Sunday.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoCincinnati Reds right-hander Hunter Greene tossed a gem in a 2-0 win over the San Francisco Giants on Monday. Greene threw 8 2/3 shutout innings while striking out seven and walking one to pick up his first win of the season, evening his record at 1-1 after three starts. Greene came just one out shy of tossing a complete game but was pulled after putting runners on first and second base with two outs. The 25-year-old hurler has been excellent through three starts this season, allowing just three runs while striking out 23 batters over 20 2/3 innings of work. Greene will next take on the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoToronto Blue Jays second baseman Andres Gimenez went 0-for-2 with two walks, two runs, one RBI, and two steals in a 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Gimenez has been productive in the early portions of the season, hitting .231 with three homers, 10 runs, eight steals, and three stolen bases in 39 at-bats. The veteran infielder has cooled in the power department after swatting three homers in his first five games this season but Gimenez's speed on the basepaths keeps him relevant in fantasy moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, two runs, and two steals in a 5-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. Henderson was just activated from the injured list on Friday after missing the beginning of the season with a right intercostal strain. He appears to be fully healthy now as he picked up his first two steals of the season in the win on Monday. Henderson is coming off a career year that saw him emerge as a power/speed threat with 37 homers and 21 stolen bases in 2024. He should be locked into fantasy lineups moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoToronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer had a big night in a 6-2 win over the Boston Red Sox on Monday. Springer went 4-for-4 with a run and three RBI to help propel the Blue Jays to the win over their division rivals. The veteran notched a single in each of his four at-bats, giving him six games with at least two hits in the early going this season. Springer missed Sunday's game after leaving early with back spasms but he appears to be over the issue now. Overall, he's hitting .455 with one homer, five runs, eight RBI, and two steals over 33 at-bats this season. He is worth a spot in fantasy starting lineups while he's hot at the plate.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoWashington Nationals outfielder James Wood went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, a walk, and a stolen base in a 6-4 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. Wood took Dodgers reliever Anthony Banda deep for a two-run shot in the seventh inning, giving the Nationals a 5-2 lead over LA. The young outfielder is off to a slow start this season, with just eight hits over 36 at-bats. The homer on Monday was just his second of the season, although Wood does now have two stolen bases. Wood has plenty of fantasy potential as a power/speed asset but will have to start hitting the ball more consistently.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoPittsburgh Pirates catcher Joey Bart went 2-for-4 with a triple, a homer, two runs, and two RBI in an 8-4 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. Bart ripped a two-out bomb in the first inning to give the Pirates an early 1-0 lead over the Cardinals on a blast that traveled 411 feet with an exit velocity of 106.2 MPH. The veteran catcher is off to a quiet start in 2025 with that being his first homer of the campaign. Bart hit a career-high 13 homers in just 253 at-bats in 2024, his first season with the Pirates. If he can show some more consistency at the plate, Bart could emerge as a quality fantasy catcher moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoHouston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 with a homer, a walk, two runs, and a stolen base in a 4-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Monday. Altuve ripped a solo homer off Seattle starter Logan Gilbert in the sixth inning, a shot that traveled 402 feet with an exit velocity of 107 MPH. The veteran is off to a fast start in 2025, hitting .357 with three homers, nine runs, five RBI, and two steals across 42 at-bats. Altuve isn't the top fantasy asset he was earlier in his career but he is still worth a start in favorable matchups moving forward.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoAthletics first baseman Tyler Soderstrom continued to flex his muscles early in the season in Monday's 5-4 loss to the Padres. Soderstrom went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and a walk. The 23-year-old lined a third-inning Michael King offering into the right-field bullpen and launched a seventh-inning Jeremiah Estrada offering over the right-field bullpen. The former fantasy prospect is starting to show why he was highly regarded, slashing .381/.435/.857 with six HR and 10 RBI in 46 plate appearances. Soderstrom would have even greater fantasy appeal if he were able to gain catcher eligibility, although he has yet to make a start behind the plate. Regardless, he is providing plenty of fantasy value as a first baseman, making him worth a look in all leagues at this time.Source: MLB.com

2 days agoBaltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that starting pitcher Zach Eflin (shoulder) left Monday's 5-1 win against the Diamondbacks after throwing 73 pitches due to shoulder fatigue, per the Baltimore Banner's Andy Kostka. Eflin pitched well against a tough lineup, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with one strikeout. He also hit a batter. Hyde mentioned that the O's will learn more on Tuesday, so fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news. It would be a blow to fantasy managers and the O's if Eflin were to miss time, as their rotation is already short-handed with Grayson Rodriguez (elbow) on the injured list with elbow inflammation. Eflin has just eight strikeouts in 18 IP this season, but he also has a 3.00 ERA and one walk allowed, so he has served as an anchor atop the O's rotation.Source: Andy Kostka - X.com
2 days agoNew York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor had a standout offensive game for several reasons in Monday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. Lindor went 3-for-4 with three singles and a run scored. He saved the most important hit for last, as his fifth-inning hit off of Tyler Phillips was the 1,500th of his career. The 31-year-old has been a high-end fantasy option throughout his career, and he still has plenty left to give to fantasy managers. His 2025 season has started a bit slowly with a .242/.308/.303 slash line, no home runs, five runs scored, three RBI, and two stolen bases in 39 plate appearances. However, fantasy managers should not worry this early on, as Lindor has been a five-category fantasy contributor in each of his last three seasons.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoThe Houston Astros have called up relief pitcher Logan VanWey from Triple-A Sugar Land. The 26-year-old would be making his first big league appearance whenever he enters a game. The righty spent all of 2024 at Triple-A, recording a 3.22 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, and 98 strikeouts over 72 2/3 innings of work (31.5 percent K%), however, he owned a 12.9 percent BB%. So far in 2025, the 6-foot-2 hurler owns a 2:7 BB:K over four innings pitched, and the Astros will hope he brings his strong strikeout stuff to the majors. For fantasy, however, he's off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of leagues. Luis Contreras, who allowed five earned runs in four appearances for Houston, was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move.Source: ESPN

2 days agoThe Minnesota Vikings announced on Monday that they released cornerback Nahshon Wright. The 26-year-old defensive back finds himself on the open market this offseason after the Vikings acquired him in a trade with the Dallas Cowboys last August in exchange for Andrew Booth. Wright was a non-factor in his lone season in Minnesota, recording zero tackles in just one game after posting 37 tackles (27 solo), an interception and five pass breakups in 32 games (three starts) in his first three years in the NFL with the Cowboys. He only played 15 snaps for the Vikings, all of which came on special teams. Wright will mostly likely continue in a special-teams role for whatever organization takes a chance on him next. Dallas selected him in the third round (99th overall) in the 2021 NFL draft out of Oregon State.Source: Minnesota Vikings
2 days agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Kodai Senga earned his first win of the season in Monday's 2-0 win over the Marlins. Senga pitched five scoreless innings, allowing five hits and two walks with four strikeouts. The 32-year-old has looked strong and healthy through two starts this season after being plagued by injury in 2024 and is now 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA, 12 strikeouts, and three walks in 10 IP. Strikeouts have always been part of Senga's game, but so have walks, so his low count through his first two starts is encouraging. Senga should have a good chance to string together a third consecutive solid outing in his next scheduled matchup at the struggling Braves.Source: MLB.com
