2 weeks agoLos Angeles Kings winger Tanner Jeannot will begin a three-game suspension on Saturday against Columbus. He was handed the suspension for an illegal check to the head of Vancouver Canucks forward Brock Boeser in Thursday's 4-2 loss. Running into trouble isn't anything new for Jeannot, as he has amassed a league-high 36 penalty minutes this season. Scoring-wise, Jeannot has contributed only one goal and one assist in 15 outings. The Kings have summoned Samuel Helenius from the minors to take Jeannot's spot on the fourth line Saturday. Helenius has picked up three points (two goals, one assist) in eight AHL appearances this season. Jeannot will be eligible to return to action next Saturday against Detroit.Source: ESPN
2 weeks agoVancouver Canucks right wing Brock Boeser (upper body) will not play on Saturday against Edmonton. He is still being evaluated after a hit from L.A. Kings forward Tanner Jeannot knocked Boeser out of action Thursday night. It's a bad loss for the Canucks, as Boeser leads the team with six goals and is tied for the second-most points with 11. Boeser skated with Jake DeBrusk and J.T. Miller on the first line. There's been a line shake-up ahead of Saturday's action, which will pair Miller with Pius Suter and Conor Garland. Nils Hoglander will move up in the lineup and join DeBrusk and Elias Pettersson on the second line.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson (lower body) will return to the crease on Saturday against Florida. He's been out of commission for a couple of games while recovering from a lower-body injury. Ersson has done solid work for the Flyers, going 4-2-1 with one shutout while allowing 2.68 goals. He has logged a .901 save percentage and was riding a three-game winning streak before getting hurt a week ago against the Bruins. The Swedish netminder makes his comeback in a tough spot, as Florida has the fifth-best scoring record in the league with 3.86 goals averaged per game.Source: Charlie O'Connor
2 weeks agoPhiladelphia Flyers right wing Matvei Michkov will be a healthy scratch for a second consecutive game on Saturday against Florida. The Russian forward featured in all 13 Flyers games this season before he was removed from the lineup on Thursday versus Tampa Bay. Michkov was named the Rookie of the Month for October and has notched 10 points (four goals, six assists) in his first 13 career games. However, he's done most of his scoring on the power play and is carrying a minus-eight rating, which is probably one of the reasons why Flyers head coach John Tortorella has sat Michkov. Anthony Richard entered the lineup as his replacement on Thursday.Source: Charlie O'Connor
2 weeks agoSeattle Kraken left wing Jared McCann scored the game-winning goal in overtime to power the Kraken over the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday evening. The 28-year-old scored on a breakaway and beat Adin Hill on his backhand. McCann has now scored in each of his past two games and sits with season total of seven goals through 15 games. He also sits with 10 assists and 33 shots on goal. Over his past three seasons in Seattle, McCann has scored at least 25+ goals in each of them with a career-high of 40 in the 2022 campaign. Fantasy managers should continue to rely on McCann from a scoring perspective and is worth a look in favorable matchups in DFS.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoMinnesota Wild left wing Kirill Kaprizov scored twice and tallied an assist in their victory over the Anaheim Ducks on Friday evening. Kaprizov scored his first goal of the evening in the opening frame off a wrist shot which extended the Minnesota lead to three goals. Then, in the final frame, the 27-year-old would tack on the primary assist on Marco Rossi's goal and then tally his second goal of the evening, this time on the power-play. Kaprizov has now scored at least three points in each of his past two games Through 14 games this campaign, the winger has tallied an impressive 27 points with nine goals and 18 assists. Kaprizov remains a high-end winger and should be locked into all lineups given his elite scoring production.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins goaltender Joel Blomqvist stopped 32 of the 34 shots he faced en route to defeating the Washington Capitals. After the Penguins gave the netminder a two goal lead, the Capitals would go one to score two straight courtesy of Rasmus Sandin and Andrew Mangiapane. However, Blomqvist was able to keep Washington off the scoresheet in the final frame which set up Evgeni Malkin to score the game-winner. The 22-year-old has begun to operate as the clear No.2 option as Alex Nedeljkovic has started each of the past four games prior to Friday. However, during this stretch, Nedeljkovic held a 2.43 GAA and a .892 SV% which could open the door for Blomqvist to see more starts while Tristan Jarry remains in the AHL on a conditioning stint.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoPittsburgh Penguins left wing/center Evgeni Malkin tallied a goal and an assist in their victory over the Washington Capitals on Friday evening. Malkin tallied the primary assist on the opening goal of the game scored by defenseman Erik Karlsson. Later in the third, Malkin would score his fifth goal of the season, which eventually served as the game-winner. Since scoring 11 points through the first five games of the season, the 38-year-old has struggled to find consistency. This was his only his third game in his past 11 where he got on the scoresheet. Nonetheless, Malkin remains a solid option for scoring given his role on the top line and top power-play unit in the Steel City.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs right wing Mitch Marner extended his point streak to seven games with a goal and an assist in Friday's victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Marner opened the scoring by tallying his third goal of the campaign on the power-play off assists from William Nylander and Morgan Rielly. Later in the second, Marner would tack on his 15th assist of the campaign on John Tavares' game-winner, which also came on the man-advantage. During his past seven games, Marner has tallied an impressive nine assists and two goals with a +5 rating and 19 shots on goal. Fantasy managers should continue to view the 27-year-old as a high-end winger from a scoring perspective.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares scored twice to lead Toronto to a victory on Friday evening over the Detroit Red Wings. Tavares scored the eventual game-winner in the second period on the man-advantage on a wrist shot. Mitch Marner and Morgan Rielly tallied the assists. Then, the 34-year-old would go on to score the empty-netter in the final minutes. This game snapped a three-game pointless streak where he held a poor -3 rating. However, prior to that cold stretch, Tavares held a six-game point streak. Fantasy managers should continue to rely on Tavares to provide solid scoring production playing in the Toronto top 6 and top power-play unit.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoToronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is expected to make his 10th start of the campaign in Friday's Original Six matchup against the Detroit Red Wings. He has just collected his first shutout of the season by defeating Boston 4-0 in another Original Six matchup on Tuesday. Stolarz hasn't suffered a regulation defeat in five straight starts, posting a 5-2-2 record for the season. Only two teams have gotten more than two pucks past Stolarz, who's sporting a very good 2.12 goals-against average. The Maple Leafs won't have Auston Matthews (upper body) in the lineup, but they are still -122 favorites on Friday, meaning Stolarz has a strong chance to secure another victory.Source: David Alter
2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal has been confirmed as the starter for Friday's clash against Minnesota. The 24-year-old has been one of the most impressive netminders in the league at the beginning of the campaign, but Dostal heads into Friday's matchup sitting on a three-game losing run. He has given up nine goals in his past two appearances. However, Dostal still owns an impressive .930 save percentage and has allowed 2.50 goals for the year while logging a 4-4-2 record. He's in a tough spot to improve his numbers on Friday, as the Wild have won nine of their 13 games so far, averaging the eighth-most goals in the league (3.62).Source: Derek Lee
2 weeks agoDallas Stars left wing Mason Marchment (undisclosed) could be back in action against Winnipeg on Saturday. An undisclosed injury kept Marchment out from Thursday's battle with Chicago, but he was on the ice for practice on Friday. The 29-year-old power forward has not disappointed fantasy managers in 2024-25, recording eight points (two goals, six assists) and 25 hits in 11 appearances. Marchment's return would push Oskar Back out of the lineup, while Sam Steel will have to settle for a fourth-line role.Source: NHL.com
2 weeks agoWashington Capitals left wing Sonny Milano (upper body) will not play against Pittsburgh on Friday. After being a healthy scratch for an extended period, Milano has played in back-to-back games. However, he will now be sidelined due to an upper-body injury. Milano was a replacement for Jakub Vrana in the lineup, and the Czech winger will rejoin the action versus the Penguins. Vrana has been fairly productive in a limited role, producing four points (two goals, two assists) in nine games despite averaging barely over 10 minutes of ice time. He will roll with the third line on Friday.Source: Tom Gulitti
2 weeks agoDetroit Red Wings defenseman Jeff Petry will be a healthy scratch for Friday's matchup against Toronto. He comes out of the lineup after amassing a minus-three rating across the past three games. The entire campaign has been a struggle for Petry, who's produced only one assist in nine games. The Red Wings will insert Justin Holl back into the lineup. Holl has recorded one assist in seven outings this season. He has failed to hit the 14-minute mark in three consecutive appearances but should play a bigger role on Friday as Ben Chiarot's partner on the second defensive pairing. With that said, Holl has zero fantasy value, and managers should look elsewhere for reinforcements at the back.Source: Helene St. James
