1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers tight end Hayden Hurst (groin) won't return to Sunday's matchup with the Denver Broncos. The veteran suffered a groin injury and will finish the week without a catch. Considering he hasn't done anything relevant this season, his departure likely won't cause panic for most fantasy managers. But his absence could at least allow Will Dissly to see a few more targets during the game.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (ankle) exited during the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. He is officially listed as questionable to return. At the time of his departure, the young pass-catcher had caught two passes for 14 yards. Josh Palmer and Ladd McConkey should see additional opportunities with Johnston sidelined.Source: Adam Schefter
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal will be active for the Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos. The rookie back will get his first taste of NFL action on Sunday. Vidal figures to serve as depth behind J.K. Dobbins with Gus Edwards (ankle) heading to the injured reserve. The Chargers also have Hassan Haskins on the roster, so he could be mixed in as well. Given Dobbins' injury history, Vidal is certainly someone to keep an eye on right now. He should be rostered in most dynasty leagues and is someone worth keeping on the radar if he gets involved this weekend.Source: Michael Florio
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) has been placed on Injured Reserve ahead of their Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Edwards hasn't practiced all week, and it doesn't sound like his injury is going to get better anytime soon. That being said, Edwards will head to the IR and miss the next four games. Edwards has taken a back seat to J.K. Dobbins over the last two weeks. In the first two weeks, Edwards saw 29 carries but only had nine rushing attempts over the last two games. Dobbins has run away with the lead-back gig, which means Edwards' absence won't make a huge impact. Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal could see a few touches, but Dobbins is going to be the primary running back going forward.Source: Adam Schefter
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) won't suit up for Sunday's meeting with the Denver Broncos. He didn't practice on Wednesday and Thursday, so fantasy managers had a feeling things were heading in this direction. However, with his absence on Friday, the door was closed regarding his availability for Week 6. The 29-year-old played nearly as many snaps as J.K. Dobbins in Weeks 1 and 2. But his workload declined in the Chargers' previous two contests. With Dobbins the clear No. 1 option on the depth chart, Edwards' potential has significantly decreased, so he wouldn't have been a viable fantasy option even if he was healthy. With that in mind, his absence will allow Dobbins to get even more work, with Hassan Haskins expected to pick up the residual scraps from the backfield.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) no longer carries an injury designation heading into the AFC West clash with the Broncos. The signal-caller was limited at practice on Wednesday and Thursday because of an ankle injury. However, he's made progress and logged a full session on Friday, clearing the way for his availability. Herbert has struggled without Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, and Austin Ekeler no longer on the roster. While he's only thrown one interception, he hasn't tossed for more than 179 yards in a game this season. Unfortunately, Herbert doesn't have much fantasy value outside of multi-quarterback setups in Week 6. That will remain true unless he turns things around, although that may not happen soon.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker is set for another solid performance in a Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. Dicker missed practice on Wednesday due to an illness but was able to practice in full on Thursday and won't even carry an injury designation into the game. He's only missed one field goal and one extra point attempt this season so far, making the best of the limited opportunities he's been given by the Chargers offense. The Chargers-Broncos showdown could be a defensive battle throughout, with field goals more likely drive enders than touchdowns. Dicker is a top-15 option with a high floor, although kicker can be the least predictable position in fantasy football.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice session. He has now been limited in back-to-back practices ahead of the week's final session on Friday. Although it is not clear if Herbert will be a full participant tomorrow, there is a belief that he has made progress with his ankle. Herbert looked clearly hobbled in the team's last game against the Kansas City Chiefs, where he threw for just 179 yards and a touchdown. The Chargers are coming off a bye week, giving Herbert more time to recover before a divisional matchup with the Denver Broncos. Herbert is mainly an option in 2QB and Superflex leagues in Week 6, as he's ranked QB23 out of all quarterbacks in the latest RotoBaller rankings.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) did not participate in Thursday's session. This makes the second straight missed practice for Edwards, who was not on the field Wednesday either. If he does not practice on Friday, it is unlikely he will suit up for the Week 6 matchup against the Denver Broncos. Edwards' last action was before the bye week when he ran the ball six times for 19 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4. Edwards is rostered in 33% of leagues and is not on the fantasy radar, even if he is healthy for Week 6. Kimani Vidal should see an uptick in snaps if Edwards is ruled out in Week 6.Source: Los Angeles Chargers
1 month agoThe Los Angeles Chargers defense is a solid option in Week 6 fantasy lineups. Before their bye week, the Bolts defensive unit ranked sixth in fantasy points per game, averaging 9.5 points. They'll be well rested in general although a few guys like Joey Bosa (hip) and Kristian Fulton (knee) are questionable at best. Facing rookie quarterback Bo Nix and a mediocre Denver Broncos offense, the Chargers can be trusted as a top-10 fantasy option in leagues starting defensive units. They've been the fourth, sixth, 15th, and 10th highest scoring defenses in their four games played this year.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Joshua Palmer is not much of a fantasy option in Week 6 lineups. The Bolts new run-first and run-often offense has limited Palmer to just seven catches total in the three games he's played so far this season. He has yet to record more than three catches or put up more than 36 receiving yards in a game this season, and has clearly fallen behind rookie Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston in the wide receiver pecking order. Fantasy managers rostering Palmer should hold on to see if he has a prove it game soon, but a matchup against an excellent Denver Broncos secondary is unlikely to provide that opportunity.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston will face his toughest matchup of the season so far in a Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. Johnston got off to a great start this season, scoring three touchdowns in Weeks 2 and 3 combined, but he followed that up with a one-catch performance in Week 4 before the Bolts went on their bye week. This week, they'll face a Denver Broncos secondary that has had Patrick Surtain shadow receivers like Johnston and limit them to under 30 yards per game. Surtain has also yet to allow a touchdown in his coverage this season. Johnston has a dangerously low floor this week without much of a ceiling to make up for it, he should be benched in most formats.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey has a tough matchup coming out of the Chargers bye week with a Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. McConkey has clearly been the WR1 on the Chargers offense, but an obvious run-first approach has limited the rookie pass catcher to an overall WR42 ranking in fantasy points per game. He has been able to put up two WR2 finishes, however, and clearly has the upside for more. He has a 25.8% target share and a 30.5% first read share, both strong numbers. He'll face a Broncos secondary that has limited opposing slot receivers to the lowest fantasy points per target so far this season. It's a decently high floor but limited ceiling kind of matchup for McConkey in Week 6.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Gus Edwards (ankle) has missed two practices coming out of the bye week and is not an option in most Week 6 fantasy lineups. J.K. Dobbins has taken over the Chargers backfield as is the clear starter in a run-first offense. Despite the Bolts relying on the run all season, Edwards has yet to put up more than 5.9 fantasy points in a game and is averaging just three fantasy points per game. On top of his own ineffectiveness and injury, Edwards will have to face a strong Broncos run defense if he plays. He's almost completely off the fantasy radar and can be dropped in most formats at this point.Source: RotoBaller
1 month agoLos Angeles Chargers running back J.K. Dobbins has another tough matchup in a Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos. Dobbins got off to an excellent start this season with huge games in Weeks 1 and 2, but then hit some of the league's best run defenses in Weeks 3 and 4. Week 6 features another strong run defense, as the Broncos have limited opposing runners to mediocre at best weeks all season. Even with the two tough weeks though, Dobbins is the fantasy RB16 in points per game and is averaging just under 100 total yards per contest. He's a high floor option despite the tough matchup, but his ceiling is limited by his opponent and potentially by the Chargers offense in general. Dobbins comes into the lower half of RB2 rankings for this week.Source: RotoBaller
