2 days agoVancouver Canucks right wing Conor Garland (personal) is considered a game-time call for Tuesday's matchup against the Rangers. The 28-year-old is set to become a father soon and didn't skate Tuesday morning. Garland has posted assists in back-to-back games and sits third on the team's scoring charts with 13 points (four goals, nine assists) through 17 appearances. J.T. Miller (personal) has already been ruled out for Tuesday night, and if Garland can't play either, the Canucks will have to count more on their depth pieces. Kiefer Sherwood has already seen increased playing time recently, and Dakota Joshua may experience the same.Source: Adam Kierszenblat
2 days agoOrlando Magic center Wendell Carter Jr. (foot) is questionable for Wednesday's game against the Clippers, per Dan Savage of the Magic's official site. Carter was able to practice Tuesday after missing eight straight contests due to left plantar fasciitis. The 25-year-old has consistently contributed when on the floor, averaging 8.3 points and 8.8 rebounds this season. If the big man can go, he will likely see limited minutes, and Moritz Wagner, Jonathan Isaac, and Goga Bitadze will continue to see expanded roles in the frontcourt. Source: Dan Savage
2 days agoBoston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard (thumb) will play in Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The 26-year-old was questionable heading into this contest because of a sprained thumb. Luckily, the C's will have him out there for a touch matchup with the undefeated Cavs. While Pritchard comes off the bench, he has averaged 15.5 points and shot 41.9% from behind the arc, making him a welcome addition to any fantasy lineup.Source: Boston Celtics
2 days agoVancouver Canucks forward J.T. Miller is taking an indefinite leave for personal reasons, the team announced Tuesday. Miller exits the lineup as Vancouver's second-best scorer. He has totaled 16 points (six goals, 10 assists) in 17 outings. Elias Pettersson is set to step into the top-line center role on Tuesday versus the Rangers, while the team has recalled winger Arshdeep Bains from the AHL. Bains is averaging a point per game in the minors but has been limited to one goal in eight NHL appearances. Miller's absence also looks to benefit Dakota Joshua, who only recently made his season debut.Source: ESPN
2 days agoDallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that tight end Jake Ferguson (concussion) "will be hard-pressed" to play on Sunday against the division-rival Washington Commanders in Week 12 after suffering a concussion early in Monday night's blowout loss to the Houston Texans. Ferguson was quickly ruled out in Week 11 and will struggle to gain clearance from the league's concussion protocol on a short week. The 25-year-old deserves to be kept on fantasy rosters through his injury, but those in need of a TE with six teams on bye this week may want to look at Ferguson's replacement, Luke Schoonmaker. The 26-year-old ended up playing 43 offensive snaps on Monday after Ferguson was hurt and hauled in six of 10 targets for 56 yards. Schoonmaker will be a TE2 sleeper/streamer if Ferguson is ruled out for Week 12, as expected.Source: Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins
2 days agoWashington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin (leg) has been labeled as week-to-week. The legendary forward suffered a lower leg injury in Monday's 6-2 win against Utah. The injury will halt Ovechkin's quest to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time goals record. After finding the back of the net twice in Monday's win, he needs 27 more goals to make the record his own. Ovechkin leads the league in goals for the first time since 2022 and has amassed 25 points (15 goals, 10 assists) in 18 games during a highly productive start to the campaign. A more specific timeline for Ovechkin's return might be provided later in the week, as team physicians will evaluate him further on Wednesday.Source: ESPN
2 days agoDallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said that quarterback Cooper Rush will once again be the starter for the Week 12 matchup with the division-rival Washington Commanders on Sunday. However, there will be a package of plays for backup Trey Lance. The Cowboys have been blown out in back-to-back games in the two games that Rush has started, and McCarthy admitted himself that he regrets not getting Lance into the game late in the Monday night loss to the Houston Texans. Rush did throw for over 300 yards with a touchdown and interception in the loss to Houston on Monday, but there's a good chance Lance could be making starts under center for the Cowboys by season's end now that Dak Prescott (hamstring) is out for the year. Rush will be no better than a low-end QB2 in superflex leagues this Sunday against Washington.Source: The Athletic - Jon Machota
2 days agoAccording to independent NBA writer Matthew Tynan, San Antonio Spurs guard Devin Vassell (knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game versus the Thunder due to left knee soreness. Vassell didn't play the second half of San Antonio's back-to-back Saturday against Dallas for rest purposes. However, the 24-year-old's late addition to the injury could cause some concern. If Vassell cannot suit up, Stephon Castle, Malaki Branham, and Tre Jones could see an uptick in minutes on the court.Source: Matthew Tynan
2 days agoDallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy said he's hoping the team will get wide receiver Brandin Cooks (knee) back for their Week 12 contest versus the division-rival Washington Commanders on Sunday. Cooks has been on Injured Reserve since Oct. 5 due to an infected right knee that required surgery. The fact that the Cowboys have yet to open the 31-year-old veteran's 21-day practice window before coming off IR makes us skeptical that we'll see Cooks on the field against the Commanders this weekend. And even if Cooks is activated from IR and is active on Sunday, we'd expect him to serve as more of Dallas' No. 3 receiver behind CeeDee Lamb and Jalen Tolbert in his first game back. Before his injury, Cooks had been a disappointing WR4/flex for fantasy managers, collecting nine catches for 91 yards and one touchdown. Things won't get any better with Cooper Rush at QB.Source: Dallas Morning News - Calvin Watkins
2 days agoCleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore was limited in practice for the second straight day to open the week on Tuesday. Moore's injury isn't believed to be serious enough to put him in danger of missing Thursday night's game against the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers, so the Browns are likely just taking it easy on the 24-year-old wideout on a short week. Like many of Cleveland's offensive skill players, Moore has benefitted from quarterback Jameis Winston taking over under center due to the season-ending injury to Deshaun Watson. In the last three games with Winston starting, Moore has 17 receptions (29 targets) for 179 yards and his first touchdown of the season, which came this past week in the loss to the New Orleans Saints. However, fantasy managers may want to temper expectations for Moore as a WR4/flex in a tough matchup against the Steelers' vaunted defense this week.Source: Cleveland Browns
2 days agoOn Tuesday, ESPN's Shams Charania said on the Pat McAfee show that New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson (hamstring) will be out for a "considerable amount of time." The Pelicans had already announced Saturday that the 24-year-old would be out indefinitely. Williamson has averaged 22.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks this regular season. However, he's been limited to only six games. With Williamson out moving forward, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, averaging 12.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals in two starts this season, can hopefully continue to fill the void in the rotation.Source: Shams Charania
2 days agoCleveland Browns tight end David Njoku (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Tuesday for the second straight day this week ahead of Thursday's divisional tilt against the Pittsburgh Steelers to kick off Week 12 action. The Browns most likely aren't going to do much more than walkthrough practices on a short week, and the 28-year-old should be good to go to suit up on Thursday night. Coming off a nine-catch, 81-yard performance in the Week 11 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Njoku should be treated as a midrange TE1 in fantasy with more upside now that quarterback Jameis Winston is throwing him passes. In three games since Deshaun Watson (Achilles) went down with a season-ending injury, Njoku has caught 19 of his 23 targets for 171 yards and one touchdown while working with Winston.Source: Cleveland Browns
2 days agoDenver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic (personal) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies. This is Jokic's third consecutive contest that he missed for personal reasons. Expect Dario Saric to be back in the starting lineup with the 29-year-old sidelined. Saric has started both games that Jokic has missed and has been a solid fantasy option rebounding-wise as he collected eight and 10 boards in his two starts. Source: NBA Injury Report
2 days agoAccording to independent NBA writer Matthew Tynan, San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Wembanyama being sidelined was not surprising after he was listed as doubtful on the Spurs injury report on Monday. With the 20-year-old out, Zach Collins will likely start. During Collins' last outing, he registered 20 points, six rebounds, three blocks, and one steal across 26 minutes against the Mavs on Saturday.Source: Matthew Tynan
2 days agoThe New York Jets named Phil Savage as their interim general manager after firing former GM Joe Douglas on Tuesday, according to a source. Savage was serving as the team's senior football adviser and was formerly the general manager of the Cleveland Browns from 2005 to 2008. Owner Woody Johnson said the Jets "will begin the process to identify a new GM immediately." Douglas signed a six-year contract when he was hired in June of 2019 and was scheduled to be a free agent after the 2024 season. The Jets went 30-64 under Douglas, with no winning seasons or playoff appearances. Douglas traded for future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers in April of 2023, but Rodgers tore his Achilles in Week 1 of last year and has been a big disappointment this season. With major changes coming this offseason, Rodgers isn't expected back in 2025.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

2 days agoThe Chicago Cubs are likely to designate former closer Adbert Alzolay (elbow) for assignment on Tuesday, according to a source. Alzolay underwent Tommy John surgery in August and won't put again until late 2025, at the earliest. The 29-year-old Venezuelan right-hander had a career-high 22 saves in 2023 and entered the 2024 campaign as the favorite for saves in Chicago, but he certainly didn't have the year the Cubs were hoping for. Before his season-ending elbow injury, Alzolay had a rough 4.67 ERA (7.38 FIP), a 1.44 WHIP, four saves, 13 strikeouts and six walks in 17 1/3 innings over 18 appearances out of the bullpen. If another club doesn't claim Alzolay on waivers, there's a chance the Cubs could work out a trade to send him elsewhere. Obviously, Alzolay will be off the fantasy radar in 2025 as he recovers from elbow surgery.Source: ESPN Chicago - Jesse Rogers
2 days agoThe Philadelphia Phillies plan to meet with superstar free-agent outfielder Juan Soto at some point, although nothing has been scheduled yet. Soto has already met with the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets and New York Yankees and is scheduled to meet with the Los Angeles Dodgers next. However, it's believed that no offers have been made to Soto yet. The Phillies already have one of the most complete rosters in the game, but they continue to look for ways to improve, and their ownership has shown a willingness to pay for some of the top free agents. It's believed that Soto prefers to stay in New York, but the Phillies could become a "stalking horse," according to Phillies CEO John Middleton. However, Mets owner Steve Cohen is willing to beat any other club's offer to Soto by $50 million, according to a source.Source: New York Post - Jon Heyman
2 days agoVeteran free-agent safety Terrell Edmunds is working out for the Chicago Bears on Tuesday, according to NFL.com. The former first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2018 out of Virginia Tech has played in 100 career games for the Steelers, Eagles, and Titans and has racked up 465 tackles, 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, six interceptions, and 28 pass deflections. His brother, Tremaine Edmunds, starts at middle linebacker for Chicago, so it would make for a cool story if he lands in the Windy City. However, he would likely be limited to a reserve role for the No. 9 defense in passing yards allowed per game (197.4) this season.Source: NFL.com
2 days agoThe New York Giants worked out free-agent quarterback Alex McGough on Tuesday, according to NFL reporter Eric Edholm. McGough was a seventh-round pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2018 out of Florida International University but has yet to log a regular-season stats in the NFL. It would be a surprise if the 29-year-old sees any playing time this year even if he signs with the G-Men, but the organization is doing its due diligence at the position after benching veteran quarterback Daniel Jones for Tommy Devito. This workout can be safely ignored for fantasy football purposes.Source: Eric Edholm
2 days agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars activated running back Keilan Robinson (toe) from Injured Reserve on Tuesday, according to JaguarsPR on X. The fifth-round rookie out of Texas has not made his NFL debut after suffering a toe injury in the preseason leading up to Week 1. Robinson spent his freshman year at Alabama before transferring to Texas for the 2021, 2022, and 2023 seasons. However, he spent his career primarily backing up NFL running backs Bijan Robinson, Roschon Johnson, and Jonathon Brooks. He ended his college career with 796 rushing yards, 332 receiving yards, 966 return yards, and 13 total touchdowns. Robinson has 4.42 speed and could see touches, but it would be a surprise if he entered the fantasy football radar in 12-plus team leagues this year.Source: Jacksonville Jaguars
2 days agoFree-agent right-hander Luis Severino is officially rejecting the New York Mets' $21.05 million qualifying offer for one year on Tuesday, according to a source. The Mets and Severino are allowed to discuss a potential deal for a reunion, but if he signs elsewhere on the open market, the Mets will get an extra draft pick as compensation. The Mets could get additional compensation if left-hander Sean Manaea also rejects his qualifying offer and signs with another club. Severino will be heading into his age-31 season in 2025 coming off a year in which he went 11-7 with a 3.91 ERA (4.21 FIP), a 1.24 WHIP and 161:60 K:BB in 182 innings over his 31 starts in his first year in Queens. The two-time All-Star was able to stay healthy all year, but fantasy managers probably shouldn't expect a second straight year of good health for the oft-injured hurler.Source: Newsday - Tim Healey
2 days agoNew York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has said he wants to play in 2025 despite a miserable season for the team this year. However, ESPN Jets reporter Rich Cimini said the firing of general manager Joe Douglas likely means Rodgers will not be back with New York next year. It's early to speculate, but Rodgers had a great relationship with Douglas and has advocated for interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich. With the organization likely to undergo a ton of change this offseason, finding a new franchise quarterback and resetting the roster could be on the agenda. Rodgers has completed 63.4% of his passes for 2,442 yards, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 11 games for the Jets this season. It would be fascinating to see how many organizations would be interested in acquiring the future Hall of Famer this offseason if he becomes available.Source: Rich Cimini -- ESPN
2 days agoFree-agent shortstop Willy Adames has officially declined the Milwaukee Brewers' $21.05 million qualifying offer on Tuesday, as expected. With Adames declining, the Brewers will be assured draft-pick compensation if he signs with another team on the open market this offseason. This was the first time that the Brewers have ever extended a qualifying offer. Adames is 29 years old and is the top SS in the free-agent class, which made it a no-brainer move for him to decline the offer. Assuming he signs for more than $50 million, Milwaukee would be given a draft pick between the end of the first round and the start of the competitive balance Round A. Adames was one of the team's top offensive performers in 2024, slashing .251/.331/.462 with a .794 OPS and career-highs in homers (32), RBI (112) and steals (21) in 161 regular-season games. He's reportedly open to the idea of moving to third base for a new team.Source: MLB.com - Adam McCalvy
2 days agoThe New York Giants are signing offensive lineman Tyre Phillips to the practice squad on Tuesday, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The 27-year-old started in nine games for the G-Men last season before suffering a torn quad, but he is fully recovered. Phillips has played in 44 career games with 27 total starts since entering the NFL as a third-round pick out of Mississippi State in 2020. While New York is far removed from the NFC Playoff picture, Phillips could make his way onto the active roster and enhance the team's offensive line down the stretch for running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. and new starting quarterback Tommy Devito.Source: Jordan Schultz
2 days agoJacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Gabe Davis (knee) is heading to the Injured Reserve list due to a knee injury, and his 2024 season is over. The former Buffalo Bill signed a three-year, $39 million deal this offseason to join a team that was supposed to compete for an AFC South championship. In 10 games with Jacksonville, he racked up 20 receptions for 239 yards and two touchdowns. While he was not much of a fantasy football contributor, his absence for the rest of the season could open more opportunities for Parker Washington. That said, all of the Jaguars' offensive skill players lack upside until Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) returns from his shoulder injury, which could be after the Week 12 bye.Source: Adam Schefter
2 days agoFree-agent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez declined the Los Angeles Dodgers' $21.05 million qualifying offer on Tuesday, as expected, according to sources. Hernandez is looking for a richer long-term deal on the open market this winter after excelling in his first year with the Dodgers, which led to a World Series title. It's believed that there is plenty of mutual interest in a reunion, but the Dodgers will at least receive draft-pick compensation if Hernandez signs elsewhere. The 32-year-old Dominican outfielder most likely won't have the type of lineup protection that he had with the Dodgers if he departs in free agency. If 589 at-bats with LA in 2024 during the regular season, Hernandez hit a strong .272/.339/.501 with an .840 OPS, career-high 33 home runs, 99 RBI, a career-high-tying 12 steals and 84 runs scored in 154 games. He had three homers and 12 RBI in 16 playoff games.Source: MLB.com - Francys Romero
2 days agoCleveland Browns offensive tackle Dawand Jones (ankle) is officially being placed on Injured Reserve on Tuesday after suffering a season-ending fractured ankle in the Week 11 game against the New Orleans Saints. The 2023 fourth-round pick out of Ohio State has started 17 games over the last two seasons with veterans Jedrick Wills and Jack Conklin struggling to stay healthy. Cleveland is headed toward a lost season, and losing depth on the offensive line is never a promising development. Jones will look to rehab this offseason and gear up for the 2025 NFL campaign.Source: NFL.com
2 days agoAs expected, free-agent outfielder Juan Soto declined the New York Yankees' $21.05 million qualifying offer on Tuesday. It means that if Soto signs with another team on the free-agent market this offseason, the Yankees will receive draft-pick compensation. The 26-year-old is expected to land a mega deal for over 10 years and potentially for more than $600 million after leading the Yankees to the World Series in his first year in the Bronx in 2024. The Yankees would really like to bring him back, but the crosstown New York Mets could be looking to outbid them and steal Soto away. Other teams already involved are the Toronto Blue Jays, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers. Soto is a generational talent and had a career-high 41 home runs and 109 RBI in 157 regular-season games for the Yankees while leading the league with 128 runs scored.Source: New York Post - Jon Heyman
2 days agoThe New York Jets fired general manager Joe Douglas on Tuesday, according to sources. The move comes six weeks after the team fired head coach Robert Saleh and just a few days after a one-point loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11 to drop the team to 3-8 on the year. Douglas had been the team's GM since June of 2019 and he finishes his tenure in New York with a 30-64 record. He'll mostly be remembered for missing badly on quarterback Zach Wilson (second overall pick in 2021) and offensive tackle Mekhi Becton (first-rounder in 2020). His big move to acquire QB Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers in April of 2023 also has not worked out. The Jets had Super Bowl aspirations at the start of this season but will now go into the offseason with a major overhaul likely coming. New York will need to hire a new GM and head coach in the same offseason for the first time since 2015.Source: SNY - Connor Hughes
