2 days agoThe Minnesota Twins have placed right-handed pitching prospect C.J. Culpepper (undisclosed) on the 7-day injured list at Double-A. The right-hander has had a hard time increasing his workload during camp and is behind schedule. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he may not be sidelined for too long in the season. Last summer, Culpepper opened the season with High-A Cedar Rapids and was then promoted to Double-A. Across 37 1/3 innings at High-A, Culpepper posted a strong 2.89 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP. He held an 11:43 BB:K and allowed just one home run. Through his first taste of Double-A, the 23-year-old took a step back as he posted a much higher 4.71 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP. When Culpepper returns to action, he will need to improve at Double-A before reaching Triple-A St. Paul.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoComing off the season Xander Schauffele had in 2024, the beginning of this year hasn't been as smooth or dominant as many expected. A nagging rib injury kept him out for two months, and after making just three starts since his return to golf before this week, he'll tee it up on Thursday with seemingly more questions than answers. The rust that developed over his layoff is most evident in his putting and chipping, as he's averaging negative averages in both strokes gained metrics since his return. It was intriguing to see him gain more than 11 shots on approach at the Valspar, but he'll certainly need a more complete game to contend at Augusta National. He's still the third-best golfer on the planet right now, and he's undoubtedly been preparing for this week away from the spotlight. At $11,600 on FanDuel, he is still a fine play on pure talent and course history alone. However, he doesn't possess the same "must-have" feel he would have had five months ago. Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoThe San Francisco Giants have placed first base prospect Bryce Eldridge (wrist) on the Double-A 7-day injured list. The 20-year-old sustained this injury during spring training and will now miss the start of the Double-A regular season. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression as he may not miss too much time, since he was only placed on the 7-day injured list. Eldridge is considered the top prospect in the San Francisco system and the No. 24-best in the sport. Last season, the 20-year-old opened the campaign at Low-A and was able to reach Triple-A by the final month. Across 108 games between Low-A, High-A, and Double-A, Eldridge held a strong .293/.376/.534 slash line. Through his brief eight-game taste of Triple-A, he tallied seven hits. The former 16th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft should push for a late-season MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com

2 days agoDetroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers (oblique) has been scratched from Tuesday's starting lineup against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park due to left-oblique tightness, according to The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen. Dillon Dingler will take over behind the plate to catch left-hander Tarik Skubal while batting seventh against Yankees right-hander Carlos Carrasco. Rogers came into Tuesday's game hitting .222 (4-for-18) with a triple, four walks and five strikeouts in his first six games of the 2025 season. Dingler is the only other catcher on Detroit's big-league roster, so there's a good chance we'll see Rogers land on the injured list o that the Tigers aren't short-handed at the position. Dingler has gone 6-for-19 with a homer, triple and six RBI in his first six games of the season. He has never faced Carrasco in his two MLB seasons.Source: The Athletic - Cody Stavenhagen
2 days agoComing off a T12 in San Antonio, Jordan Spieth prepares to make his 12th career start at The Masters this week; the first since having wrist surgery this past August. Things have been as turbulent as we remember since returning to competition in February. Putting and approach play have been all over the place, but the good has been really good; the bad, unfortunately, has been really bad. With such back-and-forth play, the former Texas Longhorn is in the middle of the pack for strokes gained statistics. Perhaps most concerning is that most of his proximity numbers rank outside the top 100 from most distances, as Augusta National is notoriously unforgiving to misplaced shots. This creates an interesting scenario for DFS purposes because the risk is worth the reward if course history has any control. But a poor week could tank the lineup, which is more plausible given what the stats say. At $10,300, Spieth could be a bold pick for those looking for possible ownership leverages.Source: PGA Tour

2 days agoAlthough Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis (hamstring) was cleared last weekend to start a running progression, the Minneapolis Star Tribune's Phil Miller reports that Lewis is around three weeks from being cleared to start a minor-league rehab assignment. "Any time they let me do something more, it's always pretty good," said Lewis. "I'll probably run three days in a row, take a break, then try to get on the bases. It's a long progression," Lewis said. The 25-year-old is feeling better since straining his left hamstring in spring training on March 16, but even if he avoids setbacks as he rehabs, it doesn't look like he'll be making his 2025 season debut until sometime in May. Lewis has plenty of power at the hot corner, but he continues to be set back by injuries. Jose Miranda and Willi Castro will continue to split time at third in Minnesota until Lewis is able to return.Source: Minneapolis Star Tribune - Phil Miller
2 days agoSepp Straka has had an incredible 2025 season thus far. He has seven finishes inside the top 20, three inside the top 10, and a win at the American Express. His game is in all-around good form heading into Augusta National this week, where players will need to be precise from tee to green. Straka ranks 52nd in strokes gained off the tee, 5th in strokes gained approach to green, and 53rd in strokes gained putting, all numbers that are above average on tour. His best finish at ANGC came at last year's Master's with a T-16, and in his three appearances, he has not missed the cut. The former Georgia Bulldog looks to be a solid play in DFS formats this week. Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoThe New York Mets have left-hander David Peterson (illness) lined up to make his next start this Saturday against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento. Peterson wasn't feeling great in his last start on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays, when he allowed an earned run on three hits while walking five and striking out three for a no-decision in 4 2/3 innings of work. The 29-year-old southpaw should be feeling much better by Saturday and will have a great matchup against the A's on the road. Peterson had a quality start and his first win of the season in his first outing of the year on March 31 against the division-rival Miami Marlins, allowing two earned runs on five hits (two solo homers) while walking three and striking out nine. Fantasy managers will be hoping for something similar in his third outing this weekend.Source: MLB.com
2 days agoWhen you think of must-have guys at The Masters, Russell Henley may not immediately come to mind. He only has one top-10 in eight career starts (T4 in 2023), but he also doesn't get things going too sideways with only one missed cut. 2025 has been good for the 35-year-old, with a win at the API, another top-5, and two top-10 finishes. Other than off the tee (-0.059), he ranks inside the top 25 for every other strokes gained metric. Having success at Augusta National from tee to green revolves around hitting as many greens as possible, and taking advantage of par-5s. Henley does both extremely well, ranking third on the season in greens in regulation (72.82%) and 31st in par-5 scoring average (4.54). Look for the former Georgia Bulldog to surprise some people this week.Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoNew York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger (illness) is out of the team's starting lineup on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park with food poisoning. Manager Aaron Boon said Bellinger was "throwing up all night." To Boone's knowledge, nobody else on the team is sick. The 29-year-old ate some bad chicken wings last night, but he could be back in there for Wednesday's series finale. Trent Grisham is getting another start in center field on Tuesday against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal and is batting eighth in the lineup. While Grisham is off to a strong start in 2025 with a .423 average (11-for-26) with three homers, a double and nine RBI in his first nine games for the Bombers, we wouldn't recommend starting him in DFS on Tuesday against the reigning American League Cy Young winner.Source: NJ Advance Media - Max Goodman
2 days agoThe 2025 season has been a rollercoaster for Billy Horschel. He's missed four cuts in 10 events but also has two top 10s and two more top 20s. His history at Augusta National isn't great by any means, with his only finish in the top 20 coming back in 2016. His play off the tee has been very shaky this season, shown by his 115th ranking in strokes gained off the tee. Where Horschel has excelled this year has been putting, ranking 49th in strokes gained putting, which is an important area this week. If he can be a bit more accurate off the tee, he has a chance to contend. Taking a flyer on him in DFS as a dark horse wouldn't be a bad idea. Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoPhil Mickelson is making his 32nd appearance at The Masters this year and hopes the impressive form on display for LIV in recent weeks can make its way to Magnolia Lane for one last hoorah. Most guys butting up against Father Time aren't finding the same leverage to stay afloat as Mickelson. Putting has been a surprising strength this season, averaging +0.74 strokes gained on the greens over his last three starts on LIV. Ball striking has also been incredibly solid, averaging +0.632 in strokes gained on approach and +0.502 off the tee in four total starts. For a 54-year-old to be putting up these numbers against younger talent, it certainly makes you wonder about his chances of winning a fourth green jacket. There's always a level of risk associated with playing Leftie in DFS lineups, but this week seems about as safe as it gets.Source: Data Golf
2 days agoIt has been a great start to the season for Shane Lowry as he makes his way to Augusta this week. He's racked up one top-5, two top-10s, and two top-20s in seven starts. He ranks sixth on the season in strokes gained on approach (+0.912), and 24th in strokes gained around the green (+0.295). Putting has been the lone worry, as he's only managed to gain strokes on the greens in two events. However, it isn't like that part of his game is completely taking him out of tournaments, but it's impacting his ability to close out tournaments down the stretch. It seems like a far stretch to be confident in Lowry's ability to slip on the green jacket this week, but his long-iron ability and superb bogey-avoidance skills should make him a valuable asset in DFS lineups. Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoDaniel Berger is making his first start at the Masters since 2022 after dealing with a multitude of injuries. The 2025 season has been kind to Berger, with four top-20 finishes, including a T-2 at the WM Phoenix Open. He has thrived in all the elements needed to excel at Augusta National this season. He ranks 41st in strokes gained off the tee, 44th in strokes gained putting, and 19th in strokes gained around the green. Truly a masterclass in all facets. He has a chance to truly contend this weekend and should be a dark horse with great value in DFS.Source: PGA Tour
2 days agoUnless you keep up with what happens on LIV golf, the state of the golf game for Dustin Johnson isn't nearly in the same limelight as before he left. However, he's rarely made his presence known on that circuit for much of the last two years. Nothing is clicking for the former Masters champion, with negative strokes gained averages in every category but off the tee so far in 2025. DJ has a long and established history at Augusta National but hasn't produced a meaningful tournament since leaving the PGA Tour. It certainly isn't a complete shun to the rival league, as other players have still found success. For Johnson, age, work ethic, time devotion, and overall sense of caring about the game are serious question marks. Fading him is an easy recommendation.Source: Data Golf
2 days agoIt has been a quality run of golf for Corey Conners since leaving the West Coast, with finishes of third,T6,T8 and T18 over his last four starts. This is even more impressive, considering the weather has been a major contributor in the previous few events. The ball-striking prowess we've come to expect hasn't been as strong of a force because of it, which has forced him to play better on and around the greens. Over his last five starts, the 33-year-old is averaging 0.54 strokes gained putting and 0.482 around the green. If that level of play continues and his iron play remains strong, he'll be a strong dark-horse candidate at $9,800 on FanDuel.Source: Data Golf
2 days agoLos Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is ramping up to join the team after offseason shoulder surgery. After missing spring training, he started his rehab last Tuesday and has gone 6-for-22 (.273) with two home runs, five RBI, four walks, and seven strikeouts in six games. He has progressed to the point where he is playing in the field after starting as just the designated hitter. On Sunday, he had both a home run and a stolen base. He's getting up to full speed and may still need more time, but a return in mid-to-late April seems realistic, which was a best-case scenario coming into the year. If he's available, he's a great stash off the waiver wire, and if he's on your bench, he should be ready to contribute sooner rather than later.Source: MILB.com
2 days agoNew York Yankees relief pitcher Adam Ottavino was designated for assignment on Tuesday. This is the second time in the last week he has been designated for assignment by the Yankees. He cleared waivers, opted for free agency, and then re-signed after his previous DFA, so it's possible he could end up back with the Yankees again. So far this season, the 39-year-old righty has pitched in three games and tossed 1 2/3 innings of hitless and scoreless relief even though he has issued four walks. He still has shown good strikeout stuff with three punchouts in nine batters, but he's a peripheral part of the bullpen as evidenced by his multiple DFAs in such a short time.Source: New York Yankees
2 days agoMinnesota Twins outfield prospect Walker Jenkins (ankle) has tallied just one hit through his first two games of the Double-A regular season. He suffered this ankle injury during camp, but it was not considered serious. Fantasy managers should expect the team to continue to monitor Jenkins' workload as he missed time in 2024 due to a hamstring injury. Last summer, the No. 3 prospect in the sport split time between Low-A and High-A. In 33 games at Low-A, Jenkins held a .273/.404/.413 slash line with six doubles and three home runs. In 34 games with High-A Cedar Rapids posted a strong .290/.382/.481 line. Fantasy managers should expect Jenkins to push for a Triple-A debut later in the season, which will open the door for a 2026 MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
2 days agoThere have been glimpses of form from Patrick Cantlay in 2025, though most came early in the year. He managed to finish T12 at The Players but has sandwiched two disappointing finishes outside the top 30 around that. The flat stick has been the deciding factor between contending and being in the middle of the pack. He's lost strokes putting in three total events, which all resulted in T31 or worse; gaining strokes has resulted in finishing no worse than T15. Looking at his history at Augusta National, Cantlay has averaged -1.177 strokes gained putting over his last four starts. His ball striking may be some of the best in professional golf, but losing that much on the greens will never yield good results. The 33-year-old has had some good finishes here, but the apparent lack of confidence on the greens warrants looking elsewhere. Source: Data Golf
2 days agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Fernando Tatis Jr. smashed his second home run of the season on Monday night in Sacramento. The seventh-inning blast extended the Padres' lead to 5-3 at the time, but the Athletics rallied to within 5-4 in the bottom of the inning, making Tatis's home run ultimately the difference in the team's one-run victory. The win moved the Padres to 9-2 in the ultra-competitive NL West. Tatis has led the way throughout the team's hot start and is hitting .381 (16-for-42) with a .433 wOBA and a 50% hard-hit rate, according to Statcast. He remains an elite option with a high ceiling in all formats moving forward.Source: ESPN.com
2 days agoPittsburgh Pirates infield prospect Termarr Johnson (foot) has started in two of the first three games of the Double-A regular season. Johnson suffered an injury during the Spring Breakout game in March but has not missed much time early in the campaign. Fantasy managers should expect the team to continue to monitor his workload, especially early in the campaign. Johnson tallied one hit in each contest, including a double on Sunday. He has swiped one bag and held a 1:1 BB:K. The former fourth overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft spent most of the 2024 campaign with High-A Greensboro and posted a .238/.372/.385 line with 13 home runs. He then earned a brief taste of Double-A, where he tallied 11 hits across his first 14 games. Johnson will likely spend most of the 2025 season with Double-A.Source: MiLB.com
2 days agoSan Diego Padres relief pitcher Robert Suarez secured his league-leading fifth save of the year in the Padres' 5-4 win over the Athletics at Sutter Health Park on Monday night. San Diego got off to a fast start with three runs in the first inning, but Suarez entered in the ninth with just a one-run lead. The 34-year-old righty had no issues, though, retiring the side in order with a strikeout of Lawrence Butler along the way. He is a perfect 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season, facing just two batters over the minimum and racking up seven strikeouts. The Padres improved to 9-2 with the win, and Suarez has taken advantage of the team's success to rack up five saves through just 11 games. He only needed nine pitches on Monday, so he should be fresh and ready to roll for San Diego's next save opportunity.Source: ESPN
2 days agoMinnesota Twins outfield prospect Gabriel Gonzalez has posted an impressive .462/.500/.923 slash line through his first three games of the High-A regular season. Gonzalez was named Midwest League Player of the Week due to his elite performance. He tallied three doubles, one home run, and held a 1:2 BB:K. He tallied three RBI and scored two runs. Gonzalez is considered the No. 21 prospect in the Minnesota system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the 21-year-old spent most of the campaign at High-A and held a modest .253/.327/.379 across 76 games. He held a 22:49 BB:K and hit only four long balls. Fantasy managers should expect Gonzalez to contend for an early-season Double-A debut, especially if he continues to remain productive.Source: MiLB.com
2 days agoNew York Mets third baseman Mark Vientos is just 4-for-35 (.114) in his first 10 games this season and is still searching for his first home run of the 2025 regular season. Two of those four hits have been doubles, and the 25-year-old is staying patient at the plate, as evidenced by his three walks in Monday's win over the Marlins. Vientos has hit fifth or sixth in the Mets' batting order and started each of the team's 10 games. He's still locked into an everyday role, but he has just a 29.6% hard-hit rate this season, according to Statcast, which is a big decline from his 46.6% hard-hit rate last year. It's still early, for sure, but Vientos needs to rediscover his power swing to deliver on his huge fantasy potential.Source: ESPN.com
2 days agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Andres Munoz picked up his fourth save of the season on Monday night, moving within one save of the Major League lead. Munoz has shut the door on each of the Mariners' four wins this season and held the Astros without a runner in a clean inning that included a strikeout of Yainer Diaz. He has not allowed a run in five innings over five games while issuing four walks and allowing two hits but also recording eight strikeouts. He's one of the top closers in the American League and should continue to anchor the back end of the Mariners' bullpen. Seattle should continue to be in enough close games that he stays among the league leaders in saves most of this season.Source: ESPN.com
2 days agoPhiladelphia Phillies pitching prospect Griff McGarry tossed four shutout innings in his season debut on Sunday. McGarry did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out eight batters. This was an impressive debut for McGarry, who battled numerous injuries last summer. In 2024, McGarry was only able to log 31 2/3 innings of work. He spent most of his time with Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he held a 4.70 ERA with a 1.92 WHIP across 30 2/3 innings. However, the Phillies opted for McGarry to begin the 2025 campaign with Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress with Reading as he should contend for an early promotion to Triple-A. The former fifth-round pick is considered the No. 30 prospect in the system on MLB.com. If he can carry this success into Triple-A, he could push for a second-half MLB debut.Source: MiLB.com
