Padres to Call Up Tyson Ross for Start on Tuesday
7 years agoMLB.com beat writer AJ Cassavell reports that the San Diego Padres will be calling up starting pitcher Tyson Ross to take over as the fifth starter in the rotation and he will take the mound on Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies. It will be the first time Ross takes the mound at Petco Park since 2016 before he was shut down for the year with a shoulder injury. Making his return from thoracic outlet surgery last season, Ross posted a 7.71 ERA and 6.6 K/9 over 49 innings with the Rangers. While Ross did look better pitching this spring — posting a 3.00 ERA and 1.07 WHIP over 15 innings —going up against the Rockies on Tuesday he will be a high-risk, low-reward option in fantasy. If he can string together several good starts, he may end up as a streaming option, but for now he should be avoided until he can prove himself.
