Packers Host Tyrus Wheat On Top-30 Visit
2 years agoThe Green Bay Packers brought in Mississippi State outside linebacker Tyrus Wheat, one of the 30 prospects they could be targeting in the NFL draft. Wheat, who transferred to the Bulldogs from a community college in 2020, recorded 17.0 sacks in three seasons as a starter. His 6.0 sacks in 2022 ranked eighth in the SEC. He made 129 tackles, 25.5 of which went for losses, three interceptions, five pass defenses, five fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles in his career. Wheat is PFF's No. 300 overall prospect and projects to be a Day 3 pick. Packers' strong-side linebacker Rashan Gary tore his ACL in Week 9 and missed the second half of last season. He is in the final year of his contract.
