Packers Hiring Matt LaFleur As New Head Coach
6 years agoThe Green Bay Packers hired Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur as their new head coach on Monday, according to people with knowledge of the situation. LaFleur, 39, spent one year with the Titans after serving as the offensive coordinator for the Rams in 2017. Tennessee's offense wasn't special with quarterback Marcus Mariota hurt for much of the year, but LaFleur coordinated a potent LA offense in 2017. He's also worked under Kyle Shanahan in Atlanta and helped Matt Ryan win the MVP in 2016. LaFleur gets to work with an elite quarterback in Aaron Rodgers, a strong No. 1 wideout in Davante Adams and a solid up-and-coming young running back in Aaron Jones, so Green Bay's offense should be able to improve in 2019. LaFleur also has three promising receivers that will be in their second seasons in Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Equanimeous St. Brown and J'mon Moore.
