Pablo Lopez Shines Against Diamondbacks
4 years agoMiami Marlins starter Pablo Lopez looked brilliant against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday in Miami. One of many budding aces on the Marlins staff, Lopez allowed one unearned run on three hits and two walks across five innings. Lopez is now the owner of a 2.04 ERA and 1.08 WHIP to go along with 40 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings. A rare starting pitcher who keeps the ball in the yard, Lopez has allowed only seven home runs over his past 18 starts, a span that goes back through the 2020 season. Often overlooked in fantasy circles and seen as a generic player with generic results, Lopez is quickly proving this is a reputation not earned. Expect Lopez to continue this top-tier opening to his season as his next start will be against the Diamondbacks once again.
