Pablo Lopez Gets Tossed After One Pitch Friday
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Pablo Lopez was ejected after just one pitch Friday night in a 1-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves. Lopez beaned Ronald Acuna Jr. in the back of the left arm with a "poorly executed sinker" to start – and end – his evening. To make matters worse, Acuna also came around to score the game's only run, making Lopez the hard-luck losing pitcher of record. The ejection was disappointing, as Lopez was looking to build off of a strong June in which he earned three wins, three quality starts, a 3.21 ERA and 35 strikeouts over 28 innings. The 25-year-old has been solid on the season, posting a 4-4 record over 91 innings with a 2.87 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, a career-best 141 ERA+ and 94 strikeouts. For those in weekly leagues, keep an eye out to see if a potential suspension is on the horizon before locking him in for Week 15.
