Owen Caissie Returns To Action
4 months agoChicago Cubs outfield prospect Owen Caissie went 1-for-4 with a run scored on Sunday for Triple-A Iowa. It was his second game with the club after missing two weeks with back tightness. Per MLB Pipeline, the outfielder is the Cubs No. 3 prospect. The Canadian, who was acquired from the San Diego Padres as part of the Yu Darvish deal prior to the 2021 season has consistently risen in the Cubs system since debuting in 2021. This season for Iowa, Caissie has hit .274 with eight home runs, 46 RBI and eight stolen bases in 78 games. The outfielder has the potential to have plenty of power and broke out for 22 homers in 2023 for Double-A Tennessee. With the trade deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see what the Cubs do, as outfielder Cody Bellinger could potentially be on the move with the Cubs stumbling overall this season. If the Cubs decide to go into sell mode, there is a chance that Caissie could see some time in Chicago. Regardless, he is on track to earn a roster spot as soon next season and should be on the radar of dynasty managers, while being an intriguing option this season in redraft leagues, if his name is called upon.
