The Oakland Athletics placed right-hander Osvaldo Bido (wrist) on the 15-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 8) on Tuesday with right-wrist flexor tendinitis and recalled left-hander Brady Basso and first baseman/outfielder Ryan Noda from Triple-A Las Vegas in corresponding moves. Infielder Tristan Gray was also optioned to Vegas. With Bido going to the shelf, left-hander JP Sears took his turn in the starting rotation to face the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park on Tuesday. With just several weeks left in the season, it remains to be seen if the 28-year-old Bido will be able to make any more starts for the A's in 2024. He's been a nice find for fantasy managers in deeper leagues and has pitched well in his first year in Oakland, going 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in his 16 outings (nine starts) covering 63 1/3 innings.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Oakland Athletics right-hander Osvaldo Bido (wrist) had been pitching through a wrist issue for his last few outings, but manager Mark Kotsay said it reached the point that Bido had trouble gripping the baseball following his most recent outing on Sept. 7. The A's are hopeful that Bido could return before the end of the regular season since his injured-list placement was retroactive to Sept. 8. However, as of Monday, Bido still had not begun playing catch. The 28-year-old is dealing with right-wrist flexor tendinitis, and at this point, it's unlikely that he'll be able to return to Oakland's starting rotation in what has been a solid year for him. The Dominican hurler has gone 5-3 with a 3.41 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 63 strikeouts and 26 walks in 63 1/3 frames over 16 outings (nine starts) in his first year in Oakland and just his second in the big leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido will rejoin the starting rotation on Tuesday against the Houston Astros. Bido was skipped on Saturday, potentially to reduce his workload as he is nearing his total from last year. This is an important move for fantasy, as Bido becomes a two-start pitcher this week (as long as the A's don't skip his next start as well) with the second matchup being against the lowly White Sox. He is a solid option in standard-size leagues, especially points leagues. Also noteworthy is that JP Sears is no longer a two-start pitcher and will lose the juicy White Sox matchup.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

Oakland Athletics right-hander Osvaldo Bido will have his turn in the starting rotation skipped this weekend against the Detroit Tigers, with rookie left-hander Brady Basso taking the ball on Saturday instead, according to manager Mark Kotsay. The A's are opting to give the ball to Basso instead after Bido allowed four runs in 5 1/3 innings in his last start on Monday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners, but the 28-year-old could also be dealing with an undisclosed injury. The 26-year-old Basso was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday and will be making his first major-league start on Sunday against Detroit. In three relief appearances for the A's this year, the southpaw has allowed two earned runs on three hits while walking none and striking out three in 3 1/3 innings of work. We wouldn't recommend using Basso as a streamer in fantasy, even against Detroit.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Oakland Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido logged another strong start on Saturday afternoon as he tossed six shutout frames against the San Francisco Giants. Bido struck out six and served up just one hit and two free passes. The lone hit came from outfielder Grant McCray in the sixth frame. In his previous start, Bido logged six shutout frames of two-hit ball while striking out five. Overall, through his second season in the big leagues, the 28-year-old has posted a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 21:45 BB:K ratio across 45 frames of work. Bido has done very well in limiting hard contact with a near-perfect 2.0% barrel rate and a 25.7% hard-hit rate which places him in the top percentile among all qualified pitchers. The right-hander will look to keep the momentum rolling as he is scheduled to face the Tampa Bay Rays next week, who have not fared well against right-handed pitchers this season.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
