3 months agoThe Baltimore Orioles placed first baseman Ryan Mountcastle (wrist) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 23) on Monday with a sprained left wrist. The earliest Mountcastle can return to the O's is on Sept. 2. In a corresponding move, Baltimore recalled infielder Livan Soto from Triple-A Norfolk. Mountcastle injured his left wrist sliding into second base last Thursday and will now be forced to miss some time as a result. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if the 27-year-old first baseman isn't ready to come off the IL when he's eligible on Sept. 2. With Mountcastle out for the time being, Ryan O'Hearn should see most of the starts at first base for the Orioles, with outfielder Eloy Jimenez also getting more run as the team's designated hitter. Mountcastle's power has been in decline now for four straight seasons after hitting a career-high 33 long balls in 2021.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
