Baltimore Orioles right-hander
Kyle Gibson (back) will make his 2025 season debut and start on Tuesday at Camden Yards against the division-rival New York Yankees, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Gibson will be cleared to make his season debut against a tough opponent despite dealing with some minor back tightness in his final start in the minor leagues with High-A Aberdeen. After signing with Baltimore late in spring training, the 37-year-old veteran stayed in the minors to build up his arm at the start of the 2025 season. In his three starts with Aberdeen and Triple-A Norfolk, he allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits while walking two and striking out 13 in 12 innings. Gibson's first start against the Yankees this week won't be the time to jump right in and stream him in fantasy, but he can be an innings-eater and streamer in AL-only leagues now that he has rejoined the O's rotation.

Kyle Gibson (back) said he dealt with some back tightness in his last minor-league rehab start with High-A Aberdeen on Sunday, but it's nothing serious and he's still ready to join the big-league rotation in Baltimore. Gibson allowed two runs (one earned) on one hit while walking two and striking out five in five innings of work for Aberdeen on Easter Sunday. In his three rehab outings to this point (two with Triple-A Norfolk), the 37-year-old veteran has given up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out 13 in 12 innings pitched. Although Gibson feels ready to make his 2025 debut in the majors, it's unclear if the Orioles want to see him make one more rehab start in the minors first. Gibson has been durable the last three years, but he won't offer much fantasy upside outside of AL-only formats when he's back with Baltimore.

Kyle Gibson went five innings and allowed two runs (one earned) while allowing a solo home run, walking two and striking out five to pick up a win for High-A Aberdeen. Gibson isn't injured, but he opened the 2025 season in the minors to build up his arm after not appearing in any spring training games after signing with Baltimore late. The 37-year-old veteran has now allowed six runs (five earned) on 10 hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out 13 in 12 innings over his three starts (two with Triple-A Norfolk). He was able to throw 51 of his 78 pitches on Easter Sunday for strikes, and he could only need one more minor-league tune-up before the Orioles are ready to have him join the big-league roster. When he joins Baltimore's rotation, he'll be an innings-eater for those in AL-only fantasy leagues at the very least.

Kyle Gibson logged 47 innings during his first start of the season with Triple-A Norfolk. Gibson pitched three 1/3 innings and allowed one run with three hits. He struck out four. Gibson signed a contract with the Orioles late in the spring and still needs time to increase his workload. However, with
Zach Eflin (lat) hitting the injured list, the Orioles may promote Gibson to the majors sooner than previously expected. Last season, the 37-year-old logged 169 2/3 innings with the Cardinals and posted a 4.24 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect the veteran to have a spot in the rotation once he is cleared to report to Baltimore. When he does return to the big leagues, he will have value in 15+ team formats as a high-floor option.
