Oneil Cruz Could See Playing Time in the Outfield
4 years agoPittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz could start to see more playing time in the outfield writes The Athletic's Rob Biertempful. On Wednesday Cruz started at shortstop but played the final two innings in center field, and then on Thursday he got the start out in center field. The Pirates have not officially indicated their plans long-term for Cruz, and while Cruz prefers to remain at shortstop Biertempful reports that Cruz will take the opportunity to play in the outfield if he's given the chance. Chances are still that Cruz will start the year in the minors, but positional flexibility could give him a quicker path to the majors and to fantasy relevancy.
