Omar Narvaez To Begin His Rehab Assignment Thursday
1 year agoNew York Mets backstop Omar Narvaez (calf) is ready to start his rehab assignment and will join High-A Brooklyn on Thursday, according to MLB.com. The one-time All-Star has been out of action since April 5 after suffering a calf strain. Before the injury, Narvaez was hitting .286 with no home runs over just five games. The 31-year-old should return to the Mets in early June if all goes well. When he is back, expect him to take Gary Sanchez's spot on the roster and back up fellow catcher Francisco Alvarez. Without everyday playing time, Narvaev is irrelevant in just about every league.
