Oliver Wahlstrom's Future In Doubt Despite New Deal
3 months agoNew York Islanders right wing Oliver Wahlstrom isn't expected to remain with the team for the upcoming NHL campaign. The Islanders signed Wahlstrom to a one-year, $1 million deal ahead of a scheduled salary arbitration hearing earlier in the week, but according to Ethan Sears of The New York Post, it would be a "surprise" if Wahlstrom was on the opening night roster. Coming off an ACL injury, Wahlstrom made only 32 appearances last season, posting six points (two goals, four assists). He was mostly a healthy scratch under new head coach Patrick Roy, who arrived in January. The 24-year-old, who was a first-round pick in 2018, has totaled 67 points (34 goals, 33 assists) in 193 career games. A fresh start somewhere else could give Wahlstrom a boost, but he boasts very little fantasy value.
