New York Islanders right wing Oliver Wahlstrom had a very unfortunate outing against Pittsburgh on Tuesday, exiting the game after getting hurt on his first shift. He logged just 0:24 of ice time and was injured by a hit from Pittsburgh's Pierre-Olivier Joseph. The team didn't have immediate updates on Wahlstrom and his status for Thursday's clash with Columbus is currently unclear. Wahlstrom has been an effective two-way player on the Islanders' top line, posting 16 points while delivering 50 hits in 35 games. Hudson Fasching took over from him when Wahlstrom left and set up Mathew Barzal for the eventual game-winning goal in a 5-1 victory. He should get a further opportunity to impress in a bigger role if Wahlstrom isn't able to play Thursday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders winger Oliver Wahlstrom has signed a new one-year contract with the team, agreeing to his qualifying offer which was worth $874,125. The 23-year-old was a restricted free agent after coming off his entry-level contract. The former first-round pick has tallied 31 goals and 61 points in 161 NHL regular-season appearances. He amassed seven goals and 16 points in 35 games last season before being forced to miss the second half of the campaign with a lower-body injury. Wahlstrom has steadily developed through the years and will hope to nail down a regular top-six spot in 2023-24.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders right wing Oliver Wahlstrom tallied two assists in Friday's 5-4 loss to Arizona, adding three hits with a plus-two rating in 12:04 of ice time. The 22-year-old doesn't play a lot on a nightly basis, averaging only 12:24 of ice time for the season, but Wahlstrom has made an impact at both ends of the ice, recording 16 points with 36 hits in 30 outings. However, the limited playing time means that Wahlstrom's fantasy value is limited and managers should have better options available.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New York Islanders winger Oliver Wahlstrom netted his second and third goals this year in a 5-2 thrashing of the San Jose Sharks. Wahlstrom now has four points in two New York contests. The fourth-year forward is off to a great start after tallying 13 goals and adding 11 helpers in 73 games just one season ago. He's currently skating on the team's third line, but this could change if he regularly jumps on the score sheet.--Andrew Lennox - RotoBaller

New York Islanders right wing Oliver Wahlstrom picked up two assists in Thursday's 4-3 loss to Nashville, helping Austin Czarnik and Anders Lee on the scoreboard. The 21-year-old now finds himself on quite a run with three multi-point efforts in four games. Wahlstrom entered the stretch with just five points for the season. He's only a third-liner for the team, but Wahlstrom also logs minutes on the first power-play unit and Lee's goal came with the man advantage on Thursday. Fantasy managers in deep leagues should definitely keep an eye on him.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
