Columbus Blue Jackets forward Oliver Bjorkstrand inked a five-year, $27 million contract (average annual value $5.4 million) to remain in the Buckeye State on Wednesday. The 25-year-old, who was due to become a restricted free-agent at the conclusion of the season, is coming off an impressive campaign in which he posted 36 points (21 goals, 15 assists) in 49 regular season games in 2019-2020. Despite missing time due to injury, Bjorkstrand still managed to lead the Blue Jackets in goals and finished third on the team in shots on goal (162) as well. Ranked at #153 in Yahoo's preseason draft rankings, the fourth-year winger presents serious value as a sleeper in fantasy drafts. He'll look to prove his value when the Jackets open up the season versus Nashville on January 14th.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body) has been ruled out for the team's first-round playoff series against the Florida Panthers. Bjorkstrand sustained a lower-body injury on April 11 and is considered week-to-week. While splitting the season between Tampa Bay and the Seattle Kraken, Bjorkstrand posted 46 points (21 goals, 25 assists) in 79 appearances. Conor Geekie has enjoyed a productive spell as Bjorkstrand's replacement in the lineup, scoring twice in three games. He looks set to remain on the third line for Tuesday's postseason opener against the Panthers.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand (lower body) has been labeled as week-to-week by head coach Jon Cooper. The veteran forward suffered a lower-body injury on Friday against the Detroit Red Wings and is set to miss the team's final three regular-season games as well as the start of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Bjorkstrand, a trade deadline acquisition from the Seattle Kraken, has notched nine points (five goals, four assists) in 18 games with the Lightning. Conor Geekie has been recalled from the minors and will replace Bjorkstrand in the lineup on Sunday against the Buffalo Sabres. The 20-year-old has posted 12 points (six goals, six assists) through his first 49 NHL career games in 2024-25.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

The Tampa Bay Lightning have acquired right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand from the Seattle Kraken. Bjorkstrand will head to Tampa alongside fellow forward Yanni Gourde, while the Lightning sent out two first-round draft picks (2026 and 2027), a 2025 second-round pick, and forward Michael Eyssimont. Tampa Bay also received a 2026 fifth-round pick in the deal. Bjorkstrand moved to Seattle in 2022-23 after being traded by the Columbus Blue Jackets. He recorded 141 points (56 goals, 85 assists) in 224 games with the Kraken, ranking him fifth on the franchise's all-time scoring list. This season, Bjorkstrand has scored 16 goals and 37 points in 61 games. It's possible that the Danish forward may receive less ice time with the Lightning, which could hurt his fantasy value.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Seattle Kraken right wing Oliver Bjorkstrand had a monster outing against the Rangers on Sunday, racking up two goals and two assists in a 7-5 victory. He became the first player in franchise history to post multiple four-point efforts with the team. Three of his points, including both goals, came in the second frame, matching Seattle's all-time record for most points scored in a single period. Following a slow start to the season, things have clicked for Bjorkstrand lately, as he's tallied five goals and 12 points in his last nine outings. The prolific run has boosted Bjorkstrand's points tally for the season to 20 (nine goals, 11 assists) through 28 appearances.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
