Oliver Bjorkstrand Re-Signs With Blue Jackets
6 years agoTwenty-three-year-old Danish forward Oliver Bjorkstrand has signed a three-year extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets worth $7.5 million. Coming off of his entry-level deal, this three-year bridge deal will pay him $2.5 million per season. Bjorkstrand will still be a restricted free agent at the completion of this contract. Bjorkstrand set career highs in goals (11), assists (29) and points (40) last season, which is somewhat unsurprising as it was his first full NHL campaign. As a junior player, Bjorkstrand was twice a 50-goal scorer, reaching 63 goals in his final season with the Portland Winterhawks. Bjorkstrand should find time in Columbus’ top-six, and should get plenty of opportunity to build on last year’s successes. 20 goals and 50 points is not out of reach for this young forward.
