Nothing Structurally Wrong For A.J. Puk
5 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher A.J. Puk (shoulder) has nothing structurally wrong with his shoulder, according to manager Bob Melvin. Melvin said Puk would likely take a few more days for strengthening before playing catch again, and he has no timetable for him to begin throwing. The good news here is it sounds like the top prospect avoided serious injury, but the A's will likely be highly protective of Puk. Melvin previously said Puk and fellow rookie Jesus Luzardo would not have a set innings limit, but that could change based on this news. Assuming he's healthy early in the season, Puk's average draft position outside the top-200 overall would still be a good time to gamble on his upside.
