Nomar Mazara Hits 17th Home Run
7 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara hit his 17th home run of the season in Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Mazara has struggled since returning from the disabled list after a thumb injury in the middle of August. Prior to the game Friday, Mazara was hitting just .200 with one home run. Hopefully this home run on the final day of August can be a trigger for Mazara having a great September. At this stage he balances right on the edge of having fantasy relevance. In shallow leagues there is now no reason for fantasy owners to hold onto Mazara entering September.

Nomar Mazara Adds Three Hits Tuesday
3 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Nomar Mazara added three hits in four at-bats Tuesday with a double and a run scored. Mazara was called up to the majors on June 2 and has become a regular contributor, slashing .301/.356/.434 while starting nearly every game in right field. His two homers, 10 runs scored, 13 RBI, and zero steals aren't much to speak of, but fantasy managers could do worse than to roster the fifth hitter in what should be a consistently excellent Padres lineup, especially for free off the waiver wire.

Nomar Mazara To Be Called Up By Padres
3 years agoThe San Diego Padres will be calling up outfielder Nomar Mazara from Triple-A, according to Robert Murray of MLB Insider. The 27-year-old has been swinging a hot bat at Triple-A this year. Over 35 games, he's slashed .367/.454/.641 with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 32 runs. Mazara was a highly-touted prospect coming up through the Texas Rangers' organization several years back. He struggled to find consistency during his time in the majors with the Rangers and has been bouncing around the league since parting ways with the organization in 2019. He figures to be a reserve outfielder for the Padres once he joins the team.

Nomar Mazara Reassigned To Minors
3 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Nomar Mazara has been reassigned to Triple-A El Paso. The former top prospect had a chance at making the Opening Day roster. However, a poor performance in spring training has resulted in a trip to the minors. The sixth-year veteran once put together three straight seasons of 20 home runs with the Texas Rangers. Sadly, he has played less than 100 games total over the last two seasons. His departure to the minors increases the likelihood that CJ Abrams makes the Opening Day roster. Hopefully, Mazara should rejoin the big league team at some point, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect much out of him.

Nomar Mazara Lands With Padres
3 years agoThe San Diego Padres signed outfielder Nomar Mazara to a minor league deal that includes an invite to big-league spring training. Mazara was eligible to sign a minor league during MLB's lockout because he didn't finish the 2021 season on any team's 40-man roster after he was released by the Detroit Tigers in June. Mazara made his big-league debut at 20 years old in 2016, batting .266/.320/.419 with 20 home runs in 568 plate appearances in his rookie season. But the left-handed slugger never was able to break out and he posted below-average offensive numbers for the Texas Rangers before he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. He struggled with Chicago in 2020 before slashing just .212/.276/.321 in 181 plate appearances for Detroit last year. The 26-year-old represents a low-cost depth option for a Padres team with plenty of questions at the corner outfield spots.
