New York Mets right-handed pitching prospect Nolan McLean was sharp in his season debut with Double-A Binghamton on Sunday. McLean logged four innings and struck out eight batters. He allowed three hits with no runs and no free passes. This was a promising season debut for McLean, as he struggled at the Double-A level last summer. Last season, the Oklahoma State logged 81 2/3 innings and posted a 4.19 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP. He tallied 80 punchouts and allowed 32 walks. Earlier in the 2024 campaign, the former third-round selection posted a strong 2.57 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP across 28 innings at High-A. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his development as he could push for a Triple-A debut later in the summer.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The New York Mets are promoting right-handed pitching prospect Nolan McLean to Triple-A Syracuse. McLean has enjoyed a fantastic start to the 2025 campaign and is being rewarded with an early promotion. Through his first 26 1/3 innings at Double-A this season, the right-hander has posted an impressive 1.37 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. Across this stint, he has struck out 30 batters and served up 12 free passes. During this stint, he did not allow a home run. This is an excellent sign as McLean held a modest 4.19 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP across 81 2/3 innings of work at Double-A during the 2024 campaign. Last season, McLean struck out just 80 batters over this stint. Given his impressive start, fantasy managers should keep a close eye on the Oklahoma State product as he could push for a second-half MLB debut.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

New York Mets pitching prospect Nolan McLean continued to perform well during his second start of the campaign. On Sunday afternoon, McLean tossed five innings of one-run ball against Double-A Hartford. In this outing, McLean struck out six batters and allowed three walks and four hits. In his first start of the regular season on April 6, McLean tossed four shutout frames and struck out an impressive eight batters. The 23-year-old right-hander is considered the No. 5-ranked prospect in the Mets system on MLB Pipeline. Last summer, the Oklahoma State product spent most of his time with Double-A but held a modest 4.19 ERA. However, it appears McLean is beginning to turn the corner. If he continues to perform well, he should be in the mix for a mid-season Triple-A debut.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The New York Mets have promoted two-way prospect Nolan McLean to Double-A Binghamton. The 2023 third-round draft pick had a 2.57 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 23.2% K-BB% for Single-A Brooklyn over seven starts. As a designated hitter, the 22-year-old was batting .224 and leading the Cyclones with five home runs over 67 at-bats. It's hard to say if he'll make it as a hitter, posting a whopping 51.4% strikeout rate this season at Single-A, but as a pitcher he is already scheduled to make a start this Wednesday against Philadelphia's Double-A affiliate, Reading.--Jarod Rupp - RotoBaller

New York Mets third base prospect Nolan McLean went 3-for-5 at the plate on Wednesday and hit his fourth home run of the season. McLean has posted a strong .280/.321/.660 slash line through his first 18 games at High-A. The 22-year-old only appeared in five games at Single-A last year, but the Mets decided that he should begin this season immediately in High-A. However, even though McLean has found success at the plate, he is striking out at a very high rate with a 26:3 K:BB. McLean will have to lower this immensely before he has the opportunity to reach Double-A this summer. The former Oklahoma State Cowboy is projected to reach the major leagues in 2026 and could become a name to monitor in dynasty leagues down the road.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
