Noelvi Marte Avoids Concussion, Considered Day-To-Day
1 year agoCincinnati Reds infielder Noelvi Marte (face) has avoided a concussion and is considered day-to-day. He was hit in the face with a ball during pregame and ended up being a late scratch for Saturday's contest against the St. Louis Cardinals. That was scary," said Reds manager David Bell, who said Marte did not need stitches and was "going to be fine." "He got tested as a precaution. There's a chance he's back pretty soon," Bell added. The 21-year-old is considered day-to-day, but it doesn't appear Marte will be out of the lineup long. Alejo Lopez replaced Marte in Sunday's lineup. Lopez went 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored during Saturday's 4-3 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. Marte's next chance to return to the lineup will be Sunday for the series finale against St. Louis.
