Noah Syndergaard To Miss Rehab Start Sunday
3 years agoNew York Mets pitcher Noah Syndergaard (elbow) will not make his second rehab start on Sunday for Single-A Brooklyn due to a non-baseball-related injury, according to Mets manager Luis Rojas. Mets beat reporter Deesha Thosar indicates that Syndergaard has tested positive for COVID-19. Syndergaard last pitched one inning in a rehab assignment for Single-A Brooklyn on Thursday and, following the game, Syndergaard revealed that he had been instructed by doctors to not throw any sliders for the rest of 2021. Should Syndergaard be forced to miss considerable time due to the COVID-19 diagnosis, Syndergaard's recovery timeline will get pushed back and seriously call into question his ability to rejoin the Mets in September as a member of the bullpen. Even if he does make it back to the team, his fantasy value will be extremely limited making him a non-factor in all formats for 2021.
